no.
Mine cost about $80 a week. For that i don't ever have to mow a lawn, paint a fence, weed a garden, clean a gutter, clean birdshit off my roof, put my bins out, fix any roller door problems, sort my recycling, organise bulk waste pickups etc etc etc. Theres about a thousand different things that i used to do in my spare time when i owned a house and land that i don't need to think about again. For that $80 i have my own personal servant that does all that shit.

the other sunday morning im walking out to the beach with Plague Jnr and old mate building manager is hosing vomit off the front door after some weirdo went too hard the night before.

Now for some people that shit is what they live for (****ing gardeners man, what the ****?).

but me, nah, my time is much more valuable to spend with family, avoiding Jets matches or even (gasp) working extra, which then makes me more than enough money to pay the $80.

now i aint preaching, not at all. apartment living isn't for everyone, but its for me. and i got an apartment because it was in a banging location, and the potential capital growth is still huge. we live in a heritage building that has very unique apartments in it. not standard set up therefore in demand. i love what walking out the front door of my place delivers me. that was a priority. other people prioritise elsewhere, and i don't begrudge them that.

yeah you still pay rates but they are generally less as its just 'your' percentage of the land value that the building is on.
all utilities are still up to you but again, service and network portions of the bills are less. You pay for usage which on especially on water is pretty minimal (man, everyone should check their water bill to see what you actually pay for 'water' greedy ****ers).

one thing you def need to nerd up on are strata laws. they have just changed where things like to demolishing an apartment block you no longer need every tenant to agree, now its just half. if you move into an old building with only a few apartments in it you could get blind sided. again, its not as 'simple' as that but def check it out.

WRGMG - is losers with no ****ing money or very little of it answering ads about products they cannot afford. Even for cheap shit under $20k these knunts ring up and then say they are really interested then you work out these khunts are broke and - they need to get a loan approved first ? What the Fook ?
Then you get the losers enquiring about things like 1962 Corvette convertibles circa $120k and again talking in depth about how much they want the car and then saying they need to get a loan approved to buy it [Which is never going to happen] ? What ? Seriously, it's a car for fun not a necessity - you pay cash for them or you get a reality check and shop in a price range that suits your lack of ability.

You would hope these pricks don't have families to look after.

9pm NYE fireworks mania for "family friendly purposes".

The new year comes in at midnight, I've seen four year kids wait in zero temperatures and pouring rain for six hours to see the London fireworks. But our spoilt brethren can't stay up on a lovely summer's evening.

So now, with alcohol bans as well, we have to rush to see the fireworks just as it is getting dark and then head home because there is nothing else to look forward to.

All the news clips over the weekend will show displays in NY, London, Dubai, Beijing, Rio etc etc.....at midnight!

The retailers will tell you that the 12 days of Christmas led up to the 25th and ended at 8.00am Boxing Day when they expected everyone to either be back at work or go shopping to fill their pockets.
Yesterday was the real 12th day of Christmas and last day of the festive football feast from the EPL.
Today I took down the decorations like you are supposed to and tonighf I'll finish off the Xmas cake....after all the buildup I can't see why we should be told when to end our festivities.

the bloke clearly has mental health issues - obviously he's committed crimes but nothing worthy of being shot and, given he's on a rooftop, killed or severly injured

if you want to change police guidelines to shoot people who behave eratically and are in a situation that they only present a danger to themselves then you're a fool

would you want someone on a roof next to your house to be shot dead?

if you think that there's elite police snipers able to 'take the perp down' then you're an idiot who knows nothing about firearms other than what you've seen in movies

it's ignorant arseclowns like yourself firing up and being generally ignorant that are bringing this country down, not policing methods

Companies re-releasing former top quality products with shit quality products using inferior materials. Why ?
Example - On my Mountain Bike I have Pro Tharsis bars, Stem, and seat post. These parts are all made from T-800 Carbon fibre [like an F1 monocoque uses] and are also titanium reinforced. They are ridiculously light but incredibly strong as well.

The replacement product sharing the same name is made from aluminium [which makes it a ticking time bomb ready to break] and is double the weight.

Price wise the new versions are probably a quarter the price - but why not give them another name ffs.

And don't get me started about those BMW piles of shit wearing the Mini Cooper S badge. Holy crap - it's got more in common with a Suzuki Swift than it has a Austin / Morris Cooper S.

You take these types away from the game and you will end up with a product nobody cares to watch.

What really grinds my gears about tennis these days is how the courts are too slow and bounce too much - making the game as boring as bat shit to watch compared to how it was 12 years ago or more.
And don't get me started on that synthetic grass shit you see everywhere - they should all be torn up and replaced with either clay or plexipave to give our kids a fighting chance if they want to be professionals one day.

The match below is why we need to go back to fast courts - it was magnificent to watch.

Any three of these groups could be successful depending upon many factors such as size of the organisation, access to capital, markets they are in..... and the list goes on.

The blue zone will pretty much always be taken over or bought out by the red zone types - and turned to shit quicker than we can blink.

I went through this about 15 years ago when I worked for Freedom, and they went on this big tear through the department & store managers to improve performance.
Thing was I was directed to reduce my footprints in the red and green sectors and increase the blue, yet no such pressure was put on any of the managers above us to improve the way they interact with other managers and employees.
Improved my interactions with others once I worked out how I dealt with people using these indicators, however as an overall measure it was largely useless when it wasn't applied to everyone.

I do consulting and apart from using DISC (because it is simple 360 with four quadrants), I throw the rest away.

Things like that graph above are designed to make money for big consulting firms, that is all - they love blinding the workplace with science, pictures and figures. And as Furns says most of it looks good at a workshop but then never gets used consistently.

It isn't rocket science to have an engaged workforce and quality management. Treat people well (and run any process through the whole business) and they will respond. And no point making someone a "manager" because of seniority or because they were great at their old job. Most current "managers" suck - See the "Peter Principle".

Then you have the Koreans . They will sit an under performing manager in a chair while the top brass essentially fling insults at him , maybe even slap him around a little - then demand he goes to his knees and begs for forgiveness and admits he's a worthless sack of shit bringing shame to the business, his country, and his family.
However, if you asked these top brass about their management style they's be adamant they were in the blue group.

If the machine is in good physical shape with no corrosion I'd probably consider keeping it. How much was your quote to get it repaired ? Because there would be at least $300 just for labour labour if it's done a shaft / motor.
If it's something like a drain pump the part will cost you about $30 and you need a Philips head screw driver to change it.

It's not in great condition... when my ex and I moved to SA, it got left behind and sat in storage for 3 years. Not in greatest shape after that. Took a fair bit to get rid of the stench when I moved back up here last year and fair bit of corrosion on the front of the machine.

Am 99% sure it's the drain pump. Can start a wash cycle, it fills and then errors to 0E which means it isn't draining. No hose kink and on spin only cycle, there is no pump doing something noise. For $30, can't be a bad idea to see if it's salvageable.

Euromaid is complete shit Grim. it's an OEM product made in China. If you buy them by the container they cost around $100 per unit.

If you want a new washing machine and want it to last then Speed Queen or Maytag are the best by a mile.

However, make sure you buy the made in USA versions not the Chinese ones - as they are shit.

Possibly not the drain pump. Unhooked it, drained it, took load of washing out. Ran a rinse + spin cycle and worked fine...

Stick with front loader to save energy costs.
Shop around online, research the model you intend on buying before pulling the trigger.

Side note - LG fridge of about the same age is also keeping stuff cold as per the norm. Also came out West with me

Both are really good. Only issues were on early production units icing up, but that's easily fixed with a simple door/gasket change. Later production units never had the issue.

Samsung Fridges should be avoided at all costs - some massive design issues with respect to wiring / water / heat which cannot be repaired.

Problems with Fridges are usually in the first six months - once beyond that it's smooth sailing.

My issues with Samsung are that when something does go wrong it's a lot harder to fix them than it is brands like LG or Westinghouse.

WGMG is people selling piss weak / junk music memorabilia on Ebay and Gumtree. This shit is so bad and yet highly priced it's difficult to imagine anyone could be so stupid.

Here is an example: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bolwarra/collectables/ac-dc-genuine-guitar/1147029756

Seller thinks it's a genuine article when in fact it's little more than a cheap shit guitar that may or may not have been signed by the remaining members of AC/DC.

To make things worse it's a copy of a Fender Strat [not a real one] - which has absolutely nothing to do with the band. Angus plays a Gibson SG and Malcolm always played the 1963 Gretsch Jet his brother gave him as teenager.

In football terms it's like having a Liverpool United Shirt signed by Hutcho and asking $10k for it.

The premise being to have a memento of that time you enjoyed yourself, or more cynically as something to flaunt your enjoyment to others.

Could use a similar argument for the autographs or again, cynically as an easy way to increase value of objects. Market dictates objects' worth.

All very very valid points.
I agree that 90% of holiday snaps are taken to rub it in others faces, and if that's the reason then that's dope but just admit it.

It would be amazing to know if there is any correlation between the rise of social media and An increase in travel industry spend by the same demographic.

Same with 'meeting' famous people. If they just walked past you and you managed to stop them for a photo it means nothing. The famous person doesn't know you, doesn't like you and doesn't want anything to do with you. They are not your friend, you have no relationship with them, your photo is worthless.

Regardless, people take these photos for 2 reasons.
1. To somehow impress your friends that you met (famous person X). If your friends are impressed by this then you need new friends.

2. To prove to your friends that you 'met' (famous person X). If your word is not good enough and your friends call you a liar unless you have photo evidence then once again you need to find better friends.

I would be amazed if there wasn't. Being bombarded with everyone else's highlight reels, whether travel, health, purchases, will have had a profound impact on our society. Then there's the social media activist trend as well as echo chamber communities. It will be very interesting looking back in 20, 50, 100 years just what changes to our society and culture have occurred in the last decade or so.

when i lived overseas every now and then you'd end up traveling to some of those touristy places with friends that came over.
one particularly smart mate never bothered with a camera but used to just buy postcards from all the major places we went.
his reasoning was that postcards always had super professional photos on them and were going to be way better than anything he could come up with.

I've got a few pieces of signed memorabilia, but mostly they've been ones I've got myself - like one signed by the Jets GF team. I've been lucky enough to meet some former Liverpool players as well - one's I've looked up to and who brought me great moments of joy in my life.

Meeting them, yes I got a photo signed - but that was only ever for me and is often made out to me. Never will I sell it. But I didn't get a selfie (had a proper photo taken) but I actually spent the bit of time asking them about things I wanted to know about moments in games, what experiences were like.

For me, they represent memories two-fold. One of moments of football I've seen/watched but also a time I got to meet that person. It's not about celebrity, but meeting a very good footballer. Maybe it's because of doing the podcast and all the players I've interviewed, but I just treat them as people because ultimately that's what they are.

I understand many people look to get these to sell, but that's not for me. Also

Once went backstage many years ago in England with a few people to a gig by a very well known rock band. All I wanted to do was shake a few hands and say "thanks for the good times". This was very pre smartphone.

One of the guys went up to the lead singer and shoved a demo tape in his hand and asking for feedback.

That's a bit rude. Yeah stop right now, listen to it and tell me what you think..

He should have shown total commitment to the cause and just blown the singer back stage.

demo tapes have rarely if ever worked for anyone that didn't already have some kind of a profile with record companies and other bands anyway.
It's about your image not the music and as such a Demo doesn't really sell anyone.

+ 1 Billion. He's a complete fcuk wit of the highest order. His band "The Cockroaches" were complete shit as well - nobody liked them. To think that people would allow their children to watch this khunt and his skivvy wearing colleagues on television is a disgrace.

Watch the TV show Ready Steady Wiggle and you'll get it...trust me. The bloke doesn't even sing and that's the start of it. Then there's the 5 toe sock/shoes, but researching the reason he wears I can kinda understand.

Commonwealth Bank are what grind my gears. A month or so ago I was complaining about the my Gov / ATO pre-fill not working. Well turns out Comm Bank have misreported my interest earnings as $0.00. So I decided to check this years online and last financial years as well. Well, long story short - what they are reporting now and what they reported the previous financial year do not match.
Now I have to waste time trying to convince the ATO that I cannot report my interest earnings to them on this account because Comm Bank are incorrectly reporting the interest earned as zero.
As such, Commonwealth Bank won't send me a statement to report that I have zero interest earned - and I cannot complete my tax return because I don't have the information I require and nobody at Comm Bank knows how to wipe their own arse.

Put zero in your ITR - if it is zero interest you don't pay tax on it, win (not knowing your full circs of course). Should they audit you down the track it is an honest error (you put down what you were given). Believe me having worked in ATO compliance it won't be firing red flags. As it is a self assessment system there is so much you can get away with.

Now to the blue Wiggle (Anthony Field). It was him, his brother Paul and Jeff who started the Wiggles from the remains of the Cockroaches. Give them credit it worked and I challenge anyone who has kids in the 15-25 age bracket now to not sing along with "Fruit Salad" or "Big Red Car". Anthony is not as cool as Murray (ex red Wiggle) who is a decent guitarist and I saw looking extremely snappy dressed in black (with black hair) at Springo earlier this year.

The original band reformed last Christmas for the mums and 20 something kids...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-28CMmmepeA

You can tell Anthony was the only one of the originals not to retire. He is in his sparkly modern outfit whilst the other guys are in their old kit!

And yes, Anthony is a bit of a plonker but he made yummy mummy panties wet 20 years ago and is still making millions.

Got absolutely no issue with his success. Good on him, actually. Australian success story.

Just watching Ready Steady Wiggle with my son last night...urgh I found him unbearable.

WGMG. Tempering valves on hot water systems / heaters. Fcuk this nanny state shit. Got a new HWS installed yesterday. And they had to put a fcking tempering valve on it to meet some bullshit standard / laws. So showers are absolutely ****ing useless now unless you like them cold or just dribbling.

I thought that was just for old folks homes and hospitals etc?

EDIT: you're right, as of June last year a tempering valve is required when replacing HWU's http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/biz_res/ftweb/pdfs/Tradespeople/New_installation_requirements_of_temperature_contr ol_devices.pdf

Can you adjust the valve at all to provide a better mix?

There was a flow restriction in the line - plumber replaced the old restrictor with a new one and now you probably need a full harness to stay in the shower.

Don't you be talking bad about any of the Wiggles, old or new, m8

But agreed, Anthony wearing toe shoes or no shoes irks me and I couldn't care why he does it.

A couple of months back I took the young one to one of their concerts in town and Anthony wasn't there, had surgery or something. So Captain Feathersword chucked on the blue skivvy and some young bloke took Captain's job. And they just spent most of the show taking the piss out of "Patty", in the blue skivvy. They actually have a bit of fun and drop some good adult puns in the live shows. I'd go again. Wait, I think I AM going again soon :rof::oops:
