Are you me? Had to get a new hot water system a week ago and was wondering wtf was up.

Pull the cap off the tempering valve. Thenget a 3mm allen key and turn the screw anti-clockwise to open it up heat wise.
If the water pressure shits itself when the hot comes on then you might have flow restrictors in the line - so best to change them out for something less restrictive.

To add to this..

When babyv4-1 was on its way we had a baby shower but invited the male members of the family too. Apparently, because men were present, I wasn't allowed to call it a baby shower or a baby shower (inc men) - I had to call it a BabyQ. Apparently BabyQ is the only socially acceptable way to have a baby shower that isn't women only. Note: we didn't have a BBQ at said BabyQ.

Baby showers were never about the baby - it's all about attention on mum to be and for other mum's present to pass on their knowledge of caesarians, torn perineums, stitches, gas, epidurals, breaches etc to scare the hostess shitless.

I learnt about a new one today. So if a person is having a kid but doesn't want a baby shower before it arrives, but instead wants one after it has arrived so "you know what to buy for it".. that party is titled "Wetting the Babies Head". I assume because the baby is actually there, so the "shower" would make the baby wet? So when I learnt about this shindig I asked if it was "a baby shower but after the birth" and was lectured very strongly about the fact that "it is not a baby shower.. it is wetting the babies head" to which i replied "i thought wetting the babies head was when the man left the hospital after a few hours to go to the pub and get a few free drinks whilst leaving his newborn + mother of child to deal with cleaning up placenta and figuring out breastfeeding on their own" to which I got stunned looks and a simple yet strong "that is disgusting".

No. You dont follow any cvnt. You make the rules well known to worldwide folk otherwise they'll keep believing in fairy stories.

Wetting the babies head is going out for well earned beers after being whined at for 9 months. Something that is earned. A baby shower is for (usually ladies but sometimes thumb tied gents) while you also go out with mates to have a break from the household work and employment. You have the next 18 years to hold hands and be domestic.

Dont fall for the feminazis rants ffs

Don't blame me for the consequences of your decisions

You signed the contract with your wife, you contributed to the child situation etc

No one forced you to forgo your freedom as a man by doing these things

I sure there are many perks that make it Wonderful etc

Have a bit of a think about how those words you typed could make a family man/woman etc. feel

Nobody (in my opinion) was blaming you for their life choices. They were merely shedding some light on their circumstance so that you and I may better understand their point of view.

I read the Members post as a light hearted dig more so than anything offensive.

People these days have become somewhat sensitive on issues which in the past phased few persons if any. On the contrary much of what is deemed acceptable by many now is severely offensive to older generations.

As an example my grandmother would have not given any woman the time of day that chose to work with a young family.

I can remember her seeing me making a sandwich once and then ripping my mother a new one for having me / a male in the kitchen preparing something to eat.

These days people would be offended by such remarks.

Never good to see anyone offended but I am not sure complete sensorship of alternative views is the answer either

Misogynist statement FMD

Can see why there are so many misguided men out there who have been brainwashed into believing complete shit

Any man worth his worth actually is in control of his women. Make no mistake about it

You could believing this new age Bullshit but here is some cold hard reality

Women want a man to take the lead. They biologically wired that way

When a man is too limp dicked to actually take the lead the woman will step up and take control. They were waiting for you to do it and you failed to do so

Now when that happens you blokes enjoy your weekends strolling Bunnings aisles looking for shit so you waste the rest of your weekend doing meaningless DIY shit at your house that she going to take in 20 years time any way as she already knows your a weak-willed soft touch and will **** you off and take the family home with her

Me on the other hand I will stay in CONTROL of my women and not let them try leading me around putting me under their thumb and letting them have CONTROL

You can call me mysogonist all you like I quite frankly prefer to be that way

I still have my balls and my weekends ain't wasted on shit that doesn't interest me

It a much better alternative

Seeing women to be controlled is the definition of mysogonist ??

You keep missing the point.

You don't need to chain a women to a kitchen sick to be in control of her

You are in control of her when you actually assertive enough to maintain your balls in the relationship and tell her how it is when it needs to be Said

That is being in control of her by actually maintaining your man hood and acting like a man

You want to be weak willed all just to keep her happy so you may get a bit of loving then go right ahead and see where that ends up

As for my life at the moment. Never been happier. Life good. I fitter I healthier I happier in spirit and mind than I have been in years and years

And to top it off my football team is actually winning games for a ****ing change

So don't know what tangent your going with there.

For some, building things with your own hands, tools & know-how is about the most manly thing they can think of. You're attempting to preach to the wrong bloke here, MFKFC. I genuinely get fulfilment and satisfaction from mowing my lawn. I don't have this bible-based man is the head of the house type complex going on. I have a supreme lack of care for most things and am happy to go with the flow for the most part.

When I want something or want to do something I'll pull my balls from the shelf or however you describe it, sure, and I ask permission AND beg forgiveness at times, sure, but my personal long term happiness comes from my efforts and experiences with my family & house and so making both of those the best they can be from my own efforts is just about the manliest and satisfying thing I can think of for me tbh.

And on Dunst's comment - I personally don't take offence to that ranting from others and all that. I'll do what I want and how I want, and anyone else can do what they want. What I do find hilarious is da Membah and the oldies whom take huge offence to all this "modern day" shit, they fxxxing implode as they basically see it as a direct attack on how they did things. So I see it as almost the inverse to what you were originally getting at - the severe butthurt comes from the people whom see some changes happening, and can't deal with those changes.

Honestly when I see da Membah ranting about how much better his alternative is and how things that other people do doesn't interest him so decide to lecture them on how much better his alternative is, I just read all of that as insecurities coming from him rather than take offence myself. If you can't live your own life without the need to attempt to belittle everyone else for how much theirs varies, that speaks more about you than them imo.

I also wish da Membah the best in finding the right submissive for him. Personally I prefer a chick whom actually makes a decision on where to eat ffs. But judging from da Membah's #weightgate comments from whatever thread however long ago, we all know he prefers women who don't eat at all.

Yeah but why exactly have you got to ask approval and beg to do something??

If you actually stood your ground initially in your relationship with your women you ain't begging for anything

You tell her what your doing and it up to her to accept this and deal with it

Anything else is you being weak and giving her a position of dominance for no reason whatsoever

Your probably ****ed with changing the status quo now as the damage is done and you have conceeded too much already

Not really worried if you think I ranting and think it means I insecure

Far from it. I less worried about what others think about me than ever before.

I pretty clued into what I wanting and how to go about achieving it and I ain't settling for less than ideal nor should anyone accept second rate.

I have learned that people are pretty insecure people want an example go look at Wolfman taking offence about people wasting their weekends at Bunnings and following kids around

Obviously hit a nerve that it may make people who have chosen this course of lifestyle feel bad.

Well quite frankly if you happy doing this it wouldn't bother you having me bringing it up.

You should be comfortable enough in your life choices but for some reason it touched a nerve with him

As for women being skinny and my preference on that
No apologies whatsoever from me

Some men like women with big tits
Others like women with arses
Others like long legs

My preference is that their energy output and inputs are balanced in such a way that they look like they healthy and don't look like a beached whale

Not for everyone this but that where I at. I will just pass on the fat ones as I not interested in lowering my expectations as I said that would be me settling for less than ideal etc

FFS, pull your head in ya pelican.

Not that it’s any of your business, but I am not a parent, and I don’t spend weekends in Bunnings.

My life is probably a lot closer to yours than you’d care to admit, but just because I take offence at something doesn’t mean I am the victim of your pre-historic views.

Do I have to be African American to be appalled by a racist remark? Or a member of the LGBTIQ community to take offence to anything demeaning them as people?

I’m done with this, you can carry on all you like. I don’t agree with your stance on women, but I respect your right to hold that belief. Please kindly afford the same to me and everyone else who might not agree with you.

I would bet that leftrightout would ask his Mrs if it's ok if she has the kids while LRO heads out for beers etc. And he'd probably ask permission to spend parts/all of him & hers shared bank account that they have worked to save together for whatever purpose - particularly when spending it on things that relate to LRO only, and not to their house/family/etc.

You've really spiralled out of control there, LRO. Fix your shit, because it obviously impacts me enough to strike so many nerves to go on an epic rant about it.

This thread recently, more than any other, has shown some people's true colours, and added weight to the value of their relevance/perspective to other debates.... or for some, removed any value altogether.

Winding each other up, or genuinely expressing your views.... either way, there's been some pretty outdated values towards the role and value of women in relationships expressed here.

While I'm all for open discussion about different relationship structures, inferring anyone is less of a man based on the structure of their relationship is beyond acceptable and is without question playing the man not the ball (no puns intended).

If discussion can't remain open without such inferences bans will happen.

Why?

Because if you infer that a man in a relationship who is not in control of his wife or discusses actions impacting on both before acting is less of a man, you assume then the wife is not fulfilling her role in the relationship and infers then that she is less of a woman - and if you want to make that leap, you're offending my wife and plenty of others, and as such, I'll "man up" and do all in my abilities to defended the honour of the woman I love.

If that's too PC lefty or clumsily stated, I'll just use the ban hammer.

look stuff like this is a giggle but its (thankfully) come to light in the last decade that serious male health issues can be linked back to unhappy relationships. this stuff is real, and divorce, suicides etc are on both sides of the fence.

I just want to re-stress incase my OG posts were skimread or poorly worded that I personally haven't taken offence specifically about my Mrs/I from da Membah's posts. Although I have taken offence to the topic in general that he's portraying, and will continue to fight the good fight with that. As plaguesey has pointed out, Membah has made an indirect point that he agrees with.. but he's also made some fairly direct and other indirect points that are subhuman and as you say outrageous and beyond belief.

I mentioned it once earlier in this thread but I genuinely believe this stems from the whole bible-based man is the head of the house, dominance over women, a woman can't teach a man, etc Christian teachings that da Membah is seemingly well-read on. I blame the Christians for what we just went thru in this thread. So it doesn't surprise me in the least that a positive society shift is happening right in front of their eyes and they have this monster meltdown about it. The butthurt is genuinely hilarious, and the best part is you don't even need to stretch to get results.

Yeah, was gonna say. I'm no theologian by any means but its hardly a Christian problem.
You've got the western media crucifying (pun intended) Islam culture and nations for their issues with treatment of females, while the more advanced Islam nations say it has nothing to do with the religion and just to do with the culture.
I don't know enough about other major religions to comment on Hindu, Buddhist etc views on females.

I think religion is too often used as scapegoat or something to pin blame on, when really religion doesn't cause a lot of the issues it is purported to.. just enables bad people to do bad things. But thats is probably a discussion for the other thread.

Personally I think the male dominance etc is just a throwback to earlier civilisation when there were legitimate reasons for it. When your culture is based around physical traits being valuable such as strength, endurance such as in hunter-gatherer and other early primitive stages of human existence then you can easily see why women were second class citizens. Probably even up to a century ago or less, with many jobs being manual labour. With how our civilization has evolved and physical traits are no longer the be all and end all, you have women being much more able to meaningfully contribute to society. But the surrounding culture just hasn't caught up yet.

Religion??

You think that is what the basis for my views is??

How wrong you are

This is just the self analysis on myself after my last relationship failing

It has led me to study the inner workings of the dynamic between men and women in detail

I learned that the failing of that relationship was me
It was all my fault because of the weakness I displayed initially with her. I can even pinpoint the exact occassion where I basically doomed it because I was too weak willed to say no to her

Reason I too weak willed to say no I found to be nothing more than the bullshit way men in this country are brainwashed to act towards women

So I set myself a goal for the last year to increase my interactions with women. Learn exactly how to say no to them.

Interesting concept

The results I found were surprising.

Early on in every relationship there was always a key point where the women tried pushing you to see what she could get away with

Amazingly when you actually stand up for yourself and say no for some reason your actually in control of them and the course of your relationship. Matter of fact they actually respect you more.

It actually is quite surprising how quickly they will revert and take the submissive role.

So that my focus at the moment.

Unlike some of the other brain dead comments from people here this isn't about some type of ultra dominance from me and exploitation. Far from it.

It is about retaining control of a relationship and not surrendering it needlessly like so many men actually do

Its when things go from this open exchange to saying those holding certain views are "less" than others, then I feel the need to speak out.
Interesting that standing up for the good name of the women in my life is too selective.
Tone is philosophically discussive

With the exception of member, accusing others of making women feel less than a man was incorrect and insulting which is what you were originally fighting against. In this case your fight for equality has generalised and incorrectly criticised others which further highlights my 'inconsistency of discrimination' debate. I stand by my previous words 100%. Sure, members words were outrageous so delete, warn, ban, move on.

As for protecting family...I guarantee that his generalist/mythical words were not aimed at yours or my family. We are all in the same boat with our better halves and protect them in immediate danger. But in this case I couldnt take the members words personally and believe that your being over sensitive.

I sometimes wonder how you get caught up in football supporter groups when they are often based on rouge elements which can test social boundaries at all levels albeit not accepting the breaking of laws.

the main point is valid, exactly why do we need a 40k stadium in a city that never draws a crowd of 40k?

and does anyone know if the govt covers this cost via the rent to these private tenants (footy teams etc).

we arent far off following the american model where for some reason cities bankrupt themselves building new stadiums then handing them over to private teams for them to profit off.

There is a pay gap, and it is that males get paid more than females on average. But it's because the genders are on average doing different jobs/industries and it all comes down to individual, and gender, choices rather than an ingrained system that pays females less for the same work. Show me a male mechanic working in WA mines that gets paid more than a female mechanic doing the same - you can't. But show me that same male mechanic getting paid more than a female hairdresser in Newcastle working 3 days a week because she's just come off maternity leave and that's what they're claiming is an evident paygap - which is a sack of bullshit. Pay gaps in the sense that females argue exist, just don't. It's all about choices. What would be the percentage of Fly In Fly Out workers that are male as opposed to female? A really casual assumption is 80% would be male. But nah the chick behind the bar at Club Macquarie in Cockle Creek should get paid as much hey #imwithher #isthattherighthashtag

I think there is probably a slight pay gap. But nothing anywhere near like what is reported. Statistics on this are so grossly misused its embarrassing. Add to this your points and also the fact that in many professions now there is positive discrimination towards female candidates and it starts grinding my gears too. And don't get me started on the fuss over equal prize money for eg tennis grand slams. I got no issue with them wanting to improve their compensation but playing the discrimination card and equality etc draws a long bow imo. Less tennis, less quality, less viewers, same prize money

Wow, didn’t realise that super netball was actually so well paid..compared to other sports worldwide. Good on them.

I think this “pay difference” is largely due to the fact that 10-15 years ago, women wouldn’t be even playing sport professionally, if at all. The popularity of women’s sport has taken off over the last 5 years as it transitioned from semi professional to professional. The wages and pay will continue to rise.

I think the only realistic way to look at it is if you have 2 identical people, with same/similar education, experience and ability.

Sport wise, I don’t think anybody could really argue that women are as good as the males skill wise.

The quota ideas - which could result in women getting jobs even if there are 20 blokes far better qualified are bizarre.

Pics or it didn't happen....

Another thing I can't stand at the moment is taking retrospective judgement on past behaviour. Don Burke is the latest example - some of that behaviour is a bit ordinary but much of it was typical of men in power 30 years ago. It was what it was - if it was actually illegal under laws at the time (such as sexual assault) then that is a different matter. Why does this come out after all this time and get judged against current standards. I know there are things I have done long ago that would be frowned upon now. Things like grabbing an arse or commenting on cleavage in the workplace or putting up a norks calendar.

Same with TV - "Love Thy Neighbour", "Till Death Us Do Part", "Black and White Minstrel Show" and even "Roots" cannot be repeated on modern TV because of their "racist" overtones. But historically that is what it was like then! Ray Martin tried to stop the last run of "Love Thy Neighbour" on Seven because it was "disrespectful to the Aboriginal community" - ffs.

Yet extreme violence, sex and swearing are all fine on TV now.

The issue is with shift workers more so than actual occupations. Biomedical studies on time restricted eating for many years have shown that for nurses or indeed anyone working similar hours obesity and other health issues is the result. Type 2 diabetes is apparently a major issue for many shift workers as well. Precarious work hours and casulisation is found to have similar effects. But the good news is that it keeps the junk take-away and highly refined junk food manufacturers who hand bags of money to politicians cashed up. So it won't be going away anytime soon.

With respect to the article in the link it's pretty poor on economic / financial matters. The NHS doesn't have any issues with respect to funding because England's government is a monopolist supplier of its own currency - they can buy any good or service they want as long as it's available in their currency. Any budget constraints they have are self imposed / political - not economic or financial.

If a child goes through life thinking they are an inept retard because someone said or done something to them that they didn't like doesn't it actually say more about their already lacking valuing of their self worth and their own pre existing insecurities??

To my way of thinking the campaign for that girl in NT does more harm than good

It actually just reinforces that it ok to take the weak option and kill yourself. We as a society are going about this the wrong way.

its the repetitive nature that destroys the soul first then, as you allude to, not knowing enough about how turn it around.

This "call lifeline if you are having problems" shit is nowhere near good enough. Need clear procedures and education that kids can follow and can self implement.

For the most part yeah you’re correct.
For a 14 yr old girl, nah. There’s way more too it.

The interesting thing about all this is her parents have been pretty anonymous. I’d love to know their role in pushing this kid out there into the social media space.

Also it cracks me up the lack of parenting with this stuff. The amount of Plague Jnrs friends that have Facebook Instagram etc, let alone phones is pretty amazing (he’s 8).

When it was all going on he asked if he could be part of it but we said no, sat him down and explained why not*. He accepted it and hadn’t brought it up since.

Kids are smart, and reasonable for the most part. It’s mostly parents who are the real weak ones. Young kids don’t ‘need’ all that shit. But plenty of parents just cave because it saves a fight or makes them look like legends in the school playground.

*was also easy due to me not being on any social media platform. Saves me looking like a hypocrite. seriously Facebook users are the ****ing worst.

Seriously, if you get personally offended by the behaviour of someone you don’t know, have never, or will never meet, nor the behaviour affecting you in any way shape or form it says more about you than the player.

There is so much jealousy surrounding those 2 blokes. You want to write Bernie’s wrongs? Pick up a racquet and start hitting. You’ll get there in no time, then you can be nice as pie to all those around you that are begging you to fail.

Bernie is doing exactly what we all wanted that 14yr old to do. Ignore he haters.

Why can’t we celebrate the bloke for standing up for himself?

Agree some parents want shooting - also social media should have some controls. Kids can't get PS4 accounts under 18 - social media should not kick in till 16 at least.

Oh and another thing, when you kiddies go to bed at night turn all your phones off ffs - the next person who complains of getting texts at all hours cops a gobful.

I have a Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin but only because business dictates I do. Information feeds from groups you like are fine but the personal "look at me" shit on there just kills it.

I did an experiment last year and turned off birthday notification - I did not get a single birthday wish or call that day, even from long time friends and family who should know. My sister said "not my fault, it didn't show on Facebook".......ffs.

PREACH!

I still don't comprehend a text/message/email being lampooned for the time of sending. It's not a phone call, not something that needs switching off, it's non-conflicting. We all live in a world where we're routinely checking these things anyway, I don't understand the people with the seemingly non-ability to prioritise these non-conflicting messages and answer/absorb/etc at a time suitable for them.

If I send an email at 3am it doesn't make it any less relevant or whatever than one at say 10am, but the response and replies I get are disturbingly contrasting - sometimes it's as if any email sent/received before 9am is ignored. If I send a clearly non-urgent message on say facebook, I can't comprehend the "why would you send this at this hour? It's too late/early, I won't be able to check/reply until later". If it's labelled as urgent, sure, address it that way (but at least from me, most know I wouldn't send an actually conflicting message that required urgency thru that method anyway, nor should anyone really). But for things clearly not in dire need of immediate response I can't respect how the time of sending is addressed tbh.

Turning off notifications, silent mode, etc is far too easy to implement nowadays, so I find the time of sending those kinds of messages completely irrelevant and it moreso reflects the receivers inability to cope and prioritise socially as the issue imo.

Maybe I'm being ignorant with these views, and maybe I'm less against timings etc of things because being a parent and needing to have your wits about you pretty quickly immediately after waking, or working locally and there's no morning grace period of "not before this time" so it's clock on and anything is immediately fair game, makes me less against this? I dunno.

How are they jerks ? Both of them basically sacrificed ever having a normal childhood / life to be professional tennis players. It's not easy. Anyone who thinks these two are lazy khunts blessed with only natural talent to get as far as they have is a complete fool.

While you would have been out having fun with your friends - these kids are training - there is no life away from it. You train, you diet, you recuperate, you play - that's there lives.

The mental pressure / grind is nothing you have ever experienced in your life either. Try watching a little yellow ball moving at 200kmh for 6 hours a day - it does your head in - and is very tiring on both mind and body.

That being the case how frustrating for them would it be for people to be constantly making judgement calls on their personalities with absolutely no idea of what they go through.

I used to run 25km a day when I played just to relax - that might give you an idea how much of a grind the actual training and playing was. By the way - I stopped playing at 14 years old because I'd had enough.

These kids would be doing a lot more than I ever did - they are amazing athletes who deserve respect.

anyway Feds angry ant yoof emo period has been well documented.

As a talented young player, Federer’s on-court tantrums and hair-trigger temper once threatened to stunt his progress.

“I had a tough time getting my act together out on court, trying to behave properly. For me that was a big deal,” he admitted.

"I was throwing my racket like you can't imagine … I mean, I was getting kicked out of practice sessions when I was 16. I used to talk much more, too, and scream on court."

At 17, my family decided that I had to go to a psychologist, because I was so angry on the court.

now, a couple of things here, yes Roger was having his temper issues at a younger age than Nick and Bernie, but i tlooks like his family got around him and pulled his head in. Nick and Berns relos seem to be around when its time to cash those cheques but nowt much else.

it is amazing though what some winning will do for your rep.

remember as well, the lil aussie battler Lleyton was out there calling linesmen retards and implying the darkies were all sticking together to gang up on him.

if/when Aussie nick brings home his first major things will be sweet sweet.

also, have you ever seen Roger Federer and the Apex gang in the same room at the same time?

makes you think.......

The Dunster
17-01-2018, 11:40 AM
Federer's problem was more to do with his style of play not so much things happening around him. He used to have a serve and volley type game but the courts he was playing on were not suitable. So he was constantly changing his game and strategies - sometimes it worked and others it didn't - that's where the frustration came from. Once he decided to adopt an all court game he took a lot of the pressure off himself and things started to fall into place for him.

It's a Woman's Day / New Idea Fantasy story that he mellowed because of support from family and so on. He changed his game to become less spectacular but more manageable for himself - that's it.

If Federer were to have been coming up in today's social media climate and faced the same level of shit Kyrios or Tomic have received he would have been destroyed by the media - without a doubt.

Tomic should be praised for getting as far as he has - others who faced similar issues with win at all costs type parents didn't make it this far - like Andrea Jaeger. She tanked a Wimbledon final against Navratilova to stick it to her overbearing khunt of a father.
The media were pretty much oblivious to it for years - though they tell the story now like they knew what really happened. In fact she was clearly the best female player in the world, but she constantly tanked matches to avoid becoming the best player in the world. She was forced into playing the game - and wanted out - ultimately her body was pushed too far and her retirement came at 19 years of age.

Could you imagine what she would have faced in today's social media climate ? The fact her father was destroying her would not have been an issue as long as she was winning, but when the winning stopped the trolls would have come out.

Kyrios, I don't know - his talent is so freakish that I don't think he should be compared with anyone - he's a once in a lifetime talent and I hope people give him space so we can see it fully develop - like they did with Federer.

Not envious at all..

I've headed up the valley twice this week and the traffic yesterday was the worst I've seen in the last few trips I've made. I went along the Expressway today and it was backed up from Cameron Park round about to the M1 offramp lights. Watch that become a new set of lights.

On said trip yesterday, was at a 4 way stop sign, stopped and thought I'd wait and see how the vehicle coming down the hill was going to stop. Fortunately I did, because they ran the stop sign. Green P plater had his head firmly planted in his phone. Heaps of teh same this morning heading up the valley. That's WGMG.

Also FYI everyone, from March 11th, the 70km/h zone from Thomas St, along to Griffiths Road and into Hamilton will become 60km/h the whole way along.

Simple issue - Maitland and surrounds has grown immensely in the last 10 years, but the infrastructure hasn't.

The council has offered up huge areas of land for McMansions, pocketed the rates and done bugger all to sort the roads out. Highway through the lights at East Maitland is getting to Sydney suburban levels at rush hour. Not to mention the flood of traffic coming through an old two lane road at Buchanan from the Expressway, including trucks. And how about the great idea to build a one way flyover - all that traffic has to come back through a massive bottleneck in the afternoon.

And as Dunster says alot of people did actually catch the train into the CBD as it took less than 30 mins to get to work - may as well take the car now rather than all that changing and shit.

It used to take 45 mins by public transport to get from Belmont South to the University of Newcastle Callaghan Campus. And that included two buses. These day's I'd doubt it could be done in 90 mins.

But the govt want it to fail so they can scrap a non profitable component of their budget. Furthermore, more cars means more state revenues.

We are doomed.

WGMG is that transport ingrastructure spending in NSW is about adding transport links for new development area, not necessarily about reducing congestion

not to mention the obvious that building roads doesn't ease congestion - it induces demand that clogs up roads and you're in a worse situation - building roads is short term thinking but it's a lot easier than changing development patterns and spending on public transit infrastructure

when you've got a transport minister as apalling as our current one, you end up with this nonsense - not to mention the $2B that could be spent on new rail infrastructure being spent on appeasing Alan Jones and the other members of the SCG Trust

there's a fine line between transport policy and satire in this state it reminds me of this - https://www.theonion.com/report-98-percent-of-u-s-commuters-favor-public-trans-1819565837

they should defo spruce up the SFS up a bit though, the place is an absolute dump ffs

not necessarily saying knock it down and rebuild it - it isn't going to get any cheaper moving forward.

if the trust could meet them halfway you'd think it would be worth it, considering they're spending all that cash on the light rail to take people to there (outside of it's original function to alleviate anzac pde traffic)

wish fitzsimons would get on his high horse about the 300 million spent on the opera house and 244 million on an art gallery that you can't kick a footy in. disgraceful, and they wonder why the kids of NSW are fat

Heaven forbid the make one crowd specific 20k stadium in the cbd and one ‘bigger’ one out west to save cash and spend money on transport to get Mofos out there but no let’s build 3 white elephants coz more is always better.

it does seem a bit strange.

why wouldn't you just make the SFS good (i.e. 25k max, whack some conference rooms in there + build a hotel where all the admin buildings are at the site now i.e. what Inglis & Sofitel did at Warwick Farm - there's your constant revenue stream) and get the SCG trust to kick the tin, they can run the joint, get some cash out of it and maintain it moving ahead, which the govt should build into the contract for it.

the plans (i.e. knock down rebuild) as they are now are pretty bad - but there is a case for fixing the joint up. (the SFS, not ANZ)

people ask where the crowds are...they're not going because it's a deadset dump that's a pain in the arse to get to. the light rail will defo improve attendance, imo. then people will complain about the quality of the stadium and it's amenities, and here we go again...

the argument that all the codes should foot the bill doesn't really wash with me. 1 - how are you going to get them to all get along, and 2 - it's not their land in the first place. it belongs to the state, with the trust administering it, right?

wouldn't a big whopping privately funded stadium kind of go in the face of all that? jeez it would be funny though.

how embarrassing for the state of NSW ffs

Basra having been bombed back to the stone age umpteen times in the past fifty years and they still have a better ground than the SFS lol, for a quarter of the cost

The NRL agreed to guarantee the grand final will be played in Sydney for the next 25 years on the proviso a world class rectangular stadium was built at Olympic Park.

see this here is a little bit cheeky (and no surprise that Ch9 has put out a pro NRL article).
but im of the understanding that at present, the NSW Govt PAYS the NRL around $5m per year just to put the Grand Final in Sydney. So obviously a 25 year 'guarantee' would also be a guaranteed price for the next 25 years.

Ch9 making out NRL doing the Sydney fans a favour by having it here.
Most people consuming the game watch it on TV, who cares if its at a different stadium.

Call their bluff. It would be epic.

Yeh that's the spirit. 2 and 3 lane road slow it down 10km/h that will ease congestion. ffs people do 60 along there and up towards Wallsend is the worst.

In addition to this how everyone feels entitled to know what happened between two grown males behind closed doors that they would have otherwise had no idea about what unfolded if it wasn't for footage from a security camera.

I dunno, I think there are some. Like if his wife was dead.

But I don't think they were crossed here.

Also agree with Wilso, and people ignoring the fact that similar situations would have played out many times in the past. Its only a problem when certain people deem it to be one, and then everyone else agrees it is also a problem.
