I don't like the stupid Knights colours but I don't see us changing all kits in one fell swoop without Mr Lee being given a big history lesson and some heavy stomping of feet from the fans, which we probably don't have the numbers/desire/passion for right now....


But seriously one of each kit in the mock-ups, which are brilliant by the way, would be an awesome compromise. Blue/Red for the home kit and the 2nd Emerald/Cinnamon for the away. Much classier looking kits all round IMO, the simple family folk can still understand which team are Newcastle in the home strip and we get a beautiful away strip to tide us over until we can be rid of the Tinkler era colours for good in a few years. Best case scenario, that's the training/FFA Cup kit they mentioned we would get first. Similar to the Navy kit from last year's pre season.

When The Herald (http://bit.ly/4kb77v) reported we'd signed with Viva the club said our training kits would be announced first, which we would use for our FFA Cup and Chile game ( :oops: ). And specifically said our playing kits would be announced later. So crisis averted, they won't be our playing kits.

BUT it doesn't take away from the fact that they look average IMO. Has someone got close to them? From the fuzzy image I have, they look like they're a cotton blend shirt?? Imagine training and playing in THAT in the Strayan summer!! Reminder - this is the league where Roar players revolted against wearing their away kit because even the black shade of their shirts were too hot.

Ernie & the Powerchair shirts will actually look a lot better when filled out with sponsors. Still shit, but better. Which then begs the question to Lawrie & co - are you guys behind on finding your sponsors? Just looks a bit unprofessional, innit.

I know it's just the training kit, but already I'm not impressed. I really wanted us to aim high with the new supplier. If you're in sharp looking gear, then it helps you feel good on game day. Why did Shankly change Liverpool's kit to be all red? So it made his team look like monsters and they played like that.

As Pico mentioned, I noticed the font and brand naming as being very similar to BLK. Are they a BLK phoenix company?

The design looks like something you'd make while picking the shirt design for your online fantasy team.

I really think we missed the boat here. I'll wait and see what the kit looks like when completed but I'm not holding my breath.

Club colours are almost always the predominant colours of a home kit. So if people want a home kit of vastly different colour to the logo, that calls into play a change in official club colours.

The 76% is the only objective statistic we have available for basically any fan input into anything. Regardless of context, how often can you get a fanbase (ours in particular) to have more than three quarters agree on something? And yet the club will ignore it.. again..

This is the training kit slash FFA Cup Kit (according to Lawrie) that Ernie Merrick was wearing at the Viva launch. Our main team training kit was also unveiled that day, given to the Jerks Powerchair team (WHY ARE THEY NOT CALLED THE POWERJERKS FFS).

The club has confirmed we won't see our playing kits until September.

The Member's Advisory Group had another meeting with the club last night, and GazFish and I brought up the ongoing discussion around the kit colours and the opportunity to vote.

In the past, the discussion has focussed around "the kits are locked in for this year, and there has been a vote in the past".

This time, I took the approach in the post I made a few weeks ago - primarily:

The discussion is not around what the colours in badge are - they haven't changed, and I haven't read any massive ground support to change these.
The point is around the PRIMARY kit colour which was changed from Gold to Red and Blue
Most importantly, the colours were changed by the owner without consultation from the fans.
The FFA, through Kyle Patterson, said "everything was on the table" regarding colours. Since then, CEO's have changed (Murphy - Eland - McKinna), owners were coming (Thompson) and came (Ledman). Irrespective, the fans have remained.
This discussion will continue to occur until it is addressed. We all suggested the club need to make take a direction on this - either stick with what we have and accept it or open it up to a member vote again.


Unfortunately, Lawrie is in China so the points were taken on board but the discussion held over to the next meeting. I'll make sure I am there again to take it up again.

take it from me, when sampling garments you get multiple versions of prototypes. Each one usually has some sort of fault in the design. First, second even third samples are NEVER badged and tagged properly. its the last thing that goes on.

again, it may look nothing like it, but as is his style recently, the gypo has just taken to giving cryptic half answers instead of being straight.

and again, he doesnt owe any of us any answers whatsoever. the shirt is the shirt and will be released when its released. but id rather him say nothing than that half baked middle management garbage you get from these types of people.

Best way to get the message across is to not buy. The last strip I bought was the emerald one and I only own one "Knights" coloured strip.

Usually the polos and training gear are more appealing for me.

But guaranteed there will be fully kitted families sitting in the gold section first game, all with "Nabbout" on the back - kit design is getting sillier anyway as there is only so much you can do every year.

I was at a gala day for Junior a couple of weeks back & everything football had a stall there. They were selling off all the BLK gear for massive unders.

The lady told me that the pic was what the new kit would look like, however these were the the a-league supporter versions (think Best & Less version for an AFL/NRL equivelant). For what it's worth they were made by Classic Sportswear.

If this is correct, expect a VIVA version of this.

The mock up ODF did would be good. You can have red side panels without them needing to be part of the armpit and sleeve but if the supporter version is actually a replica of what we are getting then who is making the decisions on this kind of stuff?

-the pink gypo copy cat goalkeeper kit - why move away from green, there is literally no clashes with the green gk kit and it at least had some reference to the Hunter,
- the socks and shorts combo with the gold kit, just .... No ... Viva clearly haven't heard of using some contrast FFS,
- the pathetic photoshop effort, do our players hate each other so much they can't stand around for a photo shoot together, not to mention we have some beautiful landscapes in Newy use one as a back drop and do a press event and show it off a few days before the game plug the game as well, drag it out and generate some free news copy for the local media at the same time, what genius decided it was best to reveal it a few hours before a trial game via social media... pathetic,

Home with darker blue not that bad live. Away white acceptable but gold 1/3,is a shocker. To start with gold should be mixed with red not blue a bit like 49ners.....or go back to original gold from early HAL years.

Keeper kit is the best of them.

The consistency in design is awful.

Some have brighter shades for stripes, some have darker. White says screw that idea and has a different colour altogether.
Then the trim... neck matches the arm pits except for white, some match the stripe on the socks and some match the stripe down the middle. The token bit of gold on the sleeves of the home and white kit looks completely out of place as does the random red bit on the gold.

Sigh.
