Get Champness and Donachie back and throw a heap at Amini
I swear some people just don't learn their lessons. Amini is tainted, doesn't matter how good he is. That little line on his CV that's says he was once a filthy Gypo means he will never succeed with us.
Tell you what tho, if he rocks up with a "Hutcho is a twat" shirt on and signs for us I'll be more than happy.

Breaking the squad down, we ideally have coverage at goal keeper between James and Duncan, though I have a sneaky feeling Italiano is signed next season though I can't find where.
Left back is also covered well.
I would execute O'Doherty's option for another season. I would also sign NTS for another season and possibly O'Donovan but both as a bench role. We need to even out the age profile of the squad but you still need some experienced heads and leadership around.
We can't rely on Johnny K's fitness, but next to Donachie he would likely start. If we play 3 at the back we need another CB.
We can't rely on Kanta either. He's essentially taking a squad spot we simply can't afford to keep holding.
If I were signing players, I would look at a 10 or a wide playmaker first, then a 9 and then a 6. Build the rest from there.
Formation depends on the coach but I think Hoffman plays a role at RB and Champness fits on the left, however I'm not convinced Champness will be back.

So... I'm genuinely excited for next season and I think you're all going to love why.
If Lawrie is finally gone, as people have mentioned but not shown me anything official yet, and we only resign a few certain players from this year...we may have finally purged the club of ex-gypos for the first time in recent memory.
This is the best news we've had for so long I swear I could cry.

Roy, whom I love because he told the silly marching band fans to shove it, has shown that he's lost a lot of what we signed him for nowadays. Although he might be a good option off the bench, personally I think we should let him go and focus on signing a decent 9 with the majority of the budget we have left.
O'Doherty should definitely be resigned/activated.
Hoffman can do a few jobs and plays for the badge, resign.
Resign Johnny K, please.
NTS can still play in a 3 or as a backup.
Boogs should be moved to the backroom and let him begin his obvious coaching career.
I'd be happy for another year of Stametelopoulos, I think in a more functional attack he is more than good enough for the bench and he can't be on big money.
I'd like us to make a move for Ramy, because they won't need him for a few years anyway, but I think he may have better options elsewhere.
Prso might be worth another deal if he's cheap and wants to stay in Aus for another year. But not the biggest loss.
Cut the rest, especially Millar. I hope someone makes sure to let him know that it's not us, it's him. I don't want any lingering thoughts of him ever coming back to us.
That leaves us needing a good striker badly, another wide player, an experienced quality 6 and a proper RB. That should be achievable with the budget we have left.

Agree with Frodo on most points, but I'd not be upset to lose Prso as I dont think he'll be cheap.
All gypos out.
Hoff captain.
Boom, give us the dunny seat now.
2 biggest investments. Go to Spain and pick up an experienced #6 there will be plenty playing 2nd/3rd tier with a bunch of La Liga experience.
Better backroom fitness crew. We pick up shit injuries and have an awful time getting our lads back on the park.

Ingham is an interesting one. Right back is a spot we need to cover and appears acceptance Millar is off.

Ingham is an interesting one. He played left back on the weekend against us - a position we have decent coverage.
Is he a LB or was he simply filling in?
He is right footed, mainly played Rb and on the wings at Brisbane. Perth have high hopes for Rawlins at Rb so I suppose Ingham looking elsewhere. He was filling in for ota at left back against us.

That's two very good signings if true. Devlin means Thurgate gets to stay in the 10 role and means we likely have enough control in the middle to compete with anyone with the ball. Dane Ingham is also an upgrade on Millar or Hoffman from what I've seen. Can actually pass a ball to a team mate, so already light years ahead of Matt.
Ingham is a plodder at best, The reason he has never nailed down a regular starting spot anywhere. I am better than Millar so that is saying nothing and even at Min wage that would be too much for Ingham.
As for Devlin he is the mongrel get under the skin type our middle of the park needs.

Had a quick look at the wellington forum and they seem unhappy about losing Devlin which is for sure a positive. If other people are disappointed to lose you then that can only be considered a good thing for us and if we keep on O'Doherty thats our midfield pairing for the season and we didn't have to splash out a lot of money for it.
Overall seems to be the exact right signing for our club, more guys like him and a couple of quality internationals and we could be looking the goods for sure.
Not overall thrilled with Ingham, been in the league a while and never seems to have made much of a splash, maybe coming here and being given a spot could be what he needs but i don't find it likely
Also learnt in my brief little look through their forum that Krishna is a free agent atm and although it's doubtful we'd sign him he's definitely a player i'd love to see here

Let's sign a coach before we sign any players. That way the coach gets a big say on recruitment. In saying that I like the post on getting a number 6 from Spain.
How come the Jets have never had a Spanish player?, where most teams have had multiple Spanish players.

I would look to trade Connor O'Toole.
Millar Out.
Kanta needs to be paid out / retired.
Prso won't be cheap enough. Out
Buy Archie a house and a Porsche before Sydney FC does.
We need centre backs to replace Boogs and Topasaurus. But I don't think lettingbeither if them go is an option.
Sure they aren't what they were and cost overs - but there appears no other option at the moment.
Big mistake that we let Jackson leave.
Donachie needs to be brought back.
Odoherty is not Kanta or Uga. We need to scout for somneone to replace both Uga and Kanta.
... and so on.
It won't be easy.

Oh. And we must sign Roy. He just needs better service. His value to Archies development is also a massive plus.
Oh. And we must sign Roy. He just needs better service. His value to Archies development is also a massive plus.
This. Until we get ourselves a established playmaker like a Davilla or Ninko type it doesn't matter who fills the #9 shirt we will struggle.
Roy still has upward of a dozen goals a season in him with proper service to suit his game, He never had that this season.

Duncan
Ingham - Donachie - NTS - Mauragis
Devlin - O'Doherty
Goodwin Thurgate Stametelopoulos
Roy
Italiano, Hoffman, Yuel, Johnny K, Simmons and Kosta on the bench.
That's honestly not an atrocious team.
Personally, a better RB than Ingham and a quality striker/forward would be ideal, but a better coach than Dean's could have that team close to the top 6.
I have some hope for next season. Surely this hope means that Lawrie really has left the club.
Also, Victory got the Spoon, LMFAO.

Bring Champness back from loan
I had forgotten about him. A new coach could potentially convince him to come back, but I'm not going get my hopes up for him. He is the perfect profile for what we need tho. A wide forward who can actually dribble and come inside to help out, similar to what Goodwin looks like he will become.

This. Any old halfwit with even little knowledge of the game would have seen Roy had no service this season.
I can only take from the decision to cut Roy that perhaps a coach has been found but not announced and talks are at a advanced stage with a striker they feel will bring more to the club with identical opportunities on the park.
There is currently nobody at the club capable of filling the role of first pick #9

Big mistake letting Roy go unless they can replace him with someone better - which I think is highly unlikely.
I can see these idiots not replacing Roy and ruining Archie like they did Kanta by playing him too often before he matured enough physically.
I think Abbas is worth keeping as well. His technical skill and awareness are still very good. I thought he was solid in our last few games - and he's also a good bloje to have around the younger players as well forvhis knowledge and experience.

Abbas only really had one good game, every other performance was just ok or poor, Sadly not enough to justify keeping

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think we can find better than Roy. For all the talk of the team needing to feed him, which is sort of true, he still missed plenty of chances and he seems unable to create anything for himself.
He looked a yard off the pace all season when trying to get on the end low crosses and when he received anything inside the box I was never confident of him finishing off a half chance. I think age is just catching up with him, as it does to everyone.
A good player who did pretty well while he was here, but I think it's time to move on and find a younger striker. D'agostino is available, had a decent season even tho Perth sucked and had 45 different strikers to choose from. We probably couldn't get him, but a forward like him who can work across the front 3 would be a good move IMO.

Of course we can find better, I can give you a list of 400 better strikers. The reality is we struggle to attract decent options. Why not keep Roy and get a foreigner that can play anywhere across the front line? That way there is some real competition for Roy, Yuel and Co to perform.
I agree age is catching up with him, He looked a bit slower this year. But as the second best striker stats wise in Jets history, I think we owe him the opportunity for another season. He qualifies as an Australian now, so he doesn't take a Visa spot.

Honestly from what I’ve seen this season. If we bring in a main striker or Forward, I’d want Archie to be getting the supplementary game time over Roy. Roy is hardly elusive, hardly clinical and not able to conjure something. He scores poacher goals.
I’m grateful for his contribution and his passion for this club, and I know he didn’t get much service this season, but I can’t condemn the club for wanting to be better.
If there’s 2 players, the quality / $$$ trade off is similar, then I’d be happy to keep Roy, stay loyal to existing players or a local Option. But if there’s a better option, we need to take it to be better.
Sentiment gets you nowhere in this game.
If Roy was on average squad player wages, I’d have him. If he’s commanding starter wages, no thanks.

can we do a reality check here that this is the Jets we are talking about, we more likely than not don't have the money to replace Roy so we'll wait till just before season start when there are no first string strikers around then sign a VPL striker and then we'll all be wondering why we have no senior striker in the team to mentor the young guys, we might even do the same with NTS's spot, classic Jets behaviour, rinse repeat...
If the club doesn't secure a seasoned striker to replace Roy and a genuine #10 this will be the last season for the club.
Anything less and we don't go anywhere near being a good flip for the blokes currently funding us.
My concern with the recruitment process is does this mean any player the club deems marquee money spot or the other two allocations and must be signed off by the other club owners thus giving them first refusal after our blokes do the leg work.
Would love to hear from Mattiske when it comes to filling these significant wage spots and how this works as far as confidentiality goes ?.

Roy has been released officially, there's really not much to discuss about.
Roy O’Donovan also departs the club after notching up 66 appearances for the Jets across two successful stints, which included the famous Grand Final run of 17/18.
He leaves Newcastle as the second leading goal scorer of all time with 32 goals.

THE Newcastle Jets are expected to confirm the appointment of Arthur Papas as coach this week, and Ange Postecoglou's former right-hand man at J-League champions Yokohama F Marinos Marinos could bring in up to 10 new faces.
After upsetting Melbourne City 2-1 to avoid the wooden spoon, the Jets will undergo a major rebuild.
ADVERTISING
Of the 32 players at the club last season, 16 have departed, headed by retired captain Nigel Boogaard and golden-boot winner Roy O'Donovan.
The future at the club of player-of-the-year Nikolai Topor-Stanley and striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos will be determined by the new coach.
Assistant coach Karl Dodd appears unlikely to stay. It is unclear if support staff Chris Bowling and Bryce Johnson will continue.
The Jets are certain to take up an option on mid-season arrival Jordan O'Doherty, which would give them 16 contracted players, including scholarship holders Archie Goodwin and Blake Archbold.
James Donachie and Joey Champness are on the books but have been on loan to Brisbane and Goa. Champness has expressed a desire to stay in his home town, while Donachie has received interest from three clubs.
The Newcastle Herald also understands that the Jets have signed at least two players yet to be announced.
Jets football operations manager Joel Griffiths was cautious when asked about the impending arrival of Papas but confirmed that a potential new coach had been consulted regarding the building of the roster.
"He has to be," he said.
The Jets' recruitment will focus on both ends of the pitch.
They scored just 24 goals, five coming in the final three games, to have the lamest attack in the league. Western United, with 30, were second worst.
O'Donovan, with seven, contributed almost a third of the Jets' haul and Griffiths said it was a "tough one" to move on the 35-year-old, who in January was granted Australian citizenship.
"It was a tough one because he has been so good for the club," Griffiths said. "He is a good person to have at the club both on and off the park. I have a lot of respect for Roy. Things like this happen in football clubs.
"We need to change and he is not in the plans of the potential new coach.
"We are going hard for players. We want to recruit good players, whether they are young or old.
"We need players who will bring something to the team. There are good players in Europe, Asia and South America. We just have to do our due diligence and make sure they are the right fit for the club."
Boogaard's retirement, the exit by Lachlan Jackson to Korean club Suwon and uncertainty over Nikolai Topor-Stanley has left the Jets slim in defence, an area where they have boasted depth in the past.
"The potential coach is keeping his options open," Griffiths said. "He wants to see what else is out there and will make a decision in the not too distant future. We have a lot of work to fix the roster."
The last major overhaul of the Jets' roster was in 2017-18 when Ernie Merrick was appointed coach and took the club to the grand final in his first season.

This quote comes of little surprise to me and I hope we play hard ball on both players.
If he wants to stay with the Roar, and they want him - fine. Lets talk about who you're giving us as a replacement.
If Donachie is going, lets get a transfer fee for him.
Centre back has gone from the position of greatest depth to most glaring weakness. Should Donachie go, I think NTS will get another year.

So childish.
If this is how you want to attract player to the club, I'm very happy the club don't ask fans to be kept in the loop about decisions.
What we should be saying is... Let's try and convince Champness to play for us by offering a better platform than Roar and if not, and the Roar seem keen on him, let's get the best deal possible out of a losing situation and learn a lesson so we don't do it again. (Something that we seem to be working towards since Nabbout basically told the club they weren't a viable option for players right now, to their face.)
If a player doesn't want to play for you, there is every chance that the club is the problem. So, become a club that everyone wants to come play for and then have your choice of potential players in a few years time.

Best Jets can hope for in return for Champness is to poach an up and coming talent who's looking to crack a starting spot on a team looking to avoid yet another spoon.
Sure sure we have all the aces up our sleeve.
Id love Champness to want to come back here too but he wants out and this is how it works.

Players have the power. Contracts mean nothing for clubs.
I think most of us have realised that we can’t afford to keep a player sitting in the stands, not playing. Also the message it sends to prospective buys is that we will be difficult. You don’t wanna go work for a company or organisation that has a history of making life difficult for employees that wish to leave. So I don’t think we really have much we can do.
I think most of us just want to see that the club don’t just bow down to other clubs. “Oh yeh Joey, he’s real good, do you want him? No worries, we’ll even cover 40% of the wages”. I’d like to see us pretend we aren’t gonna let it happen easy, ask for something in return, or at least put a line through the drama and move on and fill his spot.
The fact we ever thought he’d be back to us probably still makes our old Gypo ceo laugh.

I wanted to write to thank you for your support this season. It was a season where we had to overcome significant challenges including disruption from COVID-19 related schedule changes and a rebuild of the club following the withdrawal of support from the previous owner.
Ultimately, the 2020/21 season was a year where we managed those challenges and brought stability to the Club.
It was a year where we looked to our loyal members for support and are thankful that you stood with us to support the A-League and Westfield W-League teams through trying seasons.
We have now set ourselves a foundation to build from for this next season and beyond.
Next week, we will announce our new A-League Head Coach.
This is a key change for the Club and we are working very hard at retaining key players and recruiting new talent to support our focus on success in this coming season and beyond.
With change, we have also seen a significant shift in our existing roster – and we have farewelled some great players for the Club.
Roy O’Donovan and Ali Abbas are examples of this and we regretfully and respectfully farewell them and wish them well.
Our captain, Nigel Boogaard, has also announced his retirement and to recognise his immense contribution to the Club, we announced last week that we will name the Club’s Player of the Year Award in his honour.
The 2021/22 season will be a new start for the Club and we look forward to telling you about a number of notable changes which support our growth moving forward.
We also look forward to telling you of the new signings for the Club – and to showcasing the talent that we have right here in the Newcastle and Northern NSW region.
Our last few games showed how exciting our youth can be and we can’t wait to see players like Archie Goodwin, Angus Thurgate and Lucas Mauragis continue their run of form into the coming season.
We’ll also be focused on strengthening our Westfield W-League team and look forward to maintaining the strength of support that we see at No. 2 Sportsground on a regular basis.
Off the pitch, you’ll see the Club do more to connect and engage with our football community and families within the region.
We’ll also be refreshing our Membership program. We are excited to re-launch Membership next month. Member cards and packs are back in 2021/22, as many of you requested!
Plus, we will have more Member events and opportunities for you to interact with our teams than ever before.
Stay tuned for more information about all this and more.
Thank you again for your support. I look forward to seeing you next season and to having the opportunity to speak with you at a game and around the community.

The game has moved past Kilkenny. Our team is slow enough.
If the owners want to make us an extremely attractive proposition to buyers they need to be chasing Daggers & Geria extremely hard, make it a sign of intent that the Jets are not just here to be stable and make up the numbers.
Also, in terms of imports i think the league has also moved past the likes of journeymen League 1 & 2 players here for a holiday. We should be tapping into the Asian market heavily. There are some absolute gems to be unearthed there at a very good price too. Not only are they technically very good, they usually have a fanbase that follows #metrics

Unless they have caps for their nation, I can’t see them making too much difference imo.
Any J, K leagues, Chinese middle eastern players with pedigree will be earning better $$ In a better comp.
Unless we have some quality scouting, to “unearth” some talent, or find something throat would suit our play, I’d rather be giving the game time to young Australian talent.
There hasn’t been too many, some, but not a lot of Asian players that have lit up this league.

How many aleague clubs have the financial means to support no salary cap. They won't be able to compete with the big clubs and won't have a minimum cap so may spend even less. Raise the cap but don't destroy it.

Shit rolls downhill Stanny.
If City and Sydney start spending big on players, it means we will have more talented players available to sign. Only the top 1% of this league can make it over in Europe/Asia, so they have to settle for a deal here. If City go and sign some expensive winger, Nabbout falls down the pecking order, Sydney go and sign an expensive CM, Brattain drops down, etc..
And, so long as we allow transfer fees, the smaller clubs will make profits selling their Ugarkovic and DWH players who want to move on.
The same teams will win, but they already do, so at least this way the league improves. At least then we can slowly improve the product itself and attract better owners.

Shameful.
Yep get rid of the cap, As long squad numbers remain as they are there will be some filtering down of better players as others have mentioned.
Also as has been demonstrated in the past when a player from an opposing club with a significant reputation comes to town it also adds a few bums to seats adding to the income of lesser club owners from game day ticket sales.
The league has stalled and trying different things to invigorate it is a must. This should be one of the first measures the PLA should be looking at.

VETERAN striker Roy O'Donovan plans to continue scoring A-League goals for at least another season and is shattered he won't be able to do so for the Newcastle Jets.
O'Donovan learned two weeks ago that the Jets would not be retaining him, leaving the 35-year-old Irishman searching for the 15th club of his professional career.
The news came as a shock, because O'Donovan was of the understanding he featured in the club's plans for next season. That apparently changed when Craig Deans announced he was standing down as Newcastle's head coach.
Arthur Pappas is expected to be unveiled as Deans's replacement next week, and he is understood to favour a younger, more mobile squad, after the Jets finished second last on the ladder in 2020-21.
O'Donovan said the "script has been torn up" but he had no intention of hanging up the boots.
"I'm not thinking I'll still be knocking around at 40, but I believe I've still got some good football in me and that I can still score goals," O'Donovan told the Newcastle Herald.
"My body is in good shape and I was still one of the quickest in the club. I didn't miss a training session all season and I was available for every game.
"I think I've still got something to offer. Unfortunately that won't be for Newcastle so I'll have to look for new pastures."
O'Donovan felt his experience and leadership could have been an asset, even if Newcastle go with a youth policy.
"When a club goes through a difficult patch, it's not really fair if the presure falls on young players," he said.
"That's not going to help their progression or help them grow as players.
"That's where senior players, who've been through tough situations and know how to get back on the right path, are so important to a club."
O'Donovan said he would have been willing to accept a pay cut to stay in Newcastle, as well as fitting into the new coach's plans, rather than expecting to start up front in every game.
"Of course," he said. "That's the reality of it. I'm coming up for 36, and at that age you're not going to expect the same sort of marquee rate. I understand that, but that wasn't a conversation that was ever had."
The former Sunderland Premier League star described football as a "ruthless profession" but said he had overcome many setbacks since leaving Cork City as a 16-year-old to ply his trade in England.
"I think the club have made the wrong decision, and I told them that," he said.
"It's disappointing, but as I've done throughout my career, in difficult times I've shown my character. I wouldn't say I have a point to prove, because I know that I'm a good player and a goalscorer. Hopefully some other team will recognise that."
His preference is to stay in the A-League for at least another season, and he and his family, who are now Australian citizens, hope to eventually settle in their adopted country.
"I'm not afraid of retirement," he said.
"But after the season we had, that's not the way I want to finish. There are still things I want to achieve."
O'Donovan scored 31 goals in 71 games for Newcastle, including a team-high seven in 25 games this season, and thanked fans for their support over the past four seasons.
"The relationship I've had with the supporters here, from the outset, is something I'll hold very close to my heart," he said.
He has also scored a further 25 goals for Central Coast and Brisbane Roar. Only 10 players in A-League history have found the net more often.
Newcastle's football-operations manager, Joel Griffiths, said last week that releasing O'Donovan was "a tough one" because he was held in high regard.
"Things like this happen in football clubs," Griffiths said. "We need to change and he is not in the plans of the potential new coach."

Im not too fussed to be honest. I think the game has definitely moved past him. He obviously doesnt fit into Papas's plans or how he wants to play so good luck to him
I do have one major gripe though

I agree, if was a star why wasn't he there a whole lot longer ?
The issue the club will have is the scrutiny over the squad from supporters in the lead up to next season.
It is reasonable for people to expect those let go are going to be replaced with " better " options. Roy, Champers and hearing today Donachie back to Victory.
On paper the new signings need to appear a step up or supporters will could rightfully think we are in for another season with a poverty pack squad, That will not be a easy sell to potential sponsors and retaining existing members and then on top of that winning back some of those 5k gone walkabout from the season before last. These two key areas are critical even before a ball is kicked in anger so it all will come down to how the squad is shaping up.
I would be interested in knowing if the club put out the feelers for Calvar in light of uncertainty over Donachie and Boogs retirement ?.

It is spot on for rusted ons like you and i for sure, We will show regardless of how the squad is shaping. The bigger picture is a requirement for increased corporate interest and greater sponsorship prospects notwithstanding a sharp upturn in membership before the season kicks off.
This club is in the process of trying to be flipped so optics play a major part of the selling process and anything less than whats perceived to be a more competitive squad than the season just gone from the outset we will not see those critical areas dealt with.

We've been talking about this for years, we need a fresh coach and a clean slate. Looks like we get to finally see what can happen, albeit with absolutely no extra funds available, when an up and coming manager gets to build his team. Considering how well new franchises have done in their first season with a freshly built side, hopefully we can do the same thing.
There's also lots of players available right now, even some ex-socceroos who can't demand huge wages, so there's actually a chance we don't suck next year.

Once again you have missed my point. Its not what you or i think, WE ARE RUSTED ON. No one gives a shit at the club what you or i think about the squad because we are going to pony up with our dosh for a membership no matter how crap our team might look on paper.
Now go and ask somebody who use to be member, one of those missing 5000 and see what they want and i will bet my last dollar and my lower left one it is a better squad than this seasons on paper if you want them to come back and renew. It is only with an increased interest from the public will the corporates/sponsors then return.
The club or more to the point the other clubs owners paying our bills not just want growth but need it and in that case they need to be selling better shit than last season.
Poor membership, Poverty pack squad and poor revenues from sponsorship and corporates don't look to good when running through the features and benefits of the football club to a prospective buyer.

Nah, I get your point. You want hype up front to get em interested and that's cool.
But I look at it this way. No one cared when we signed Nabbout, but they ALL cared after that RAAF round game vs Sydney.
I dont care what names they put down on paper, give the public an experience like that every week and they will buy in. If I remember it was close to 20k that day, way more than rusted on types like you and I.
Don't believe me, then go back and look at our crowds for the 1st few matches that year to what we ended up with. And why did that happen? The names were the same but the results changed.
Sport essentially is trafficking in hope. Yes you can provide that up front by signing some dudes, but nothing beats the end result.
Our best (non Griff) players over the last few years have had no hype. Song, Byun, Nabbout, Ugaboogaman, Champness, McGree. All of them gave us more on the pitch than the likes of Heskey, Wessi and whoever those 2 Malaysian dudes were supposed to be last year.

I'd still be looking to offload Connor O'Toole if we can for someone that can defend and cross a ball into the box.
He's not hopeless but he's lazy at times tracking back and when he was unavailable we definitely looked a better team.
I'd let Yuel go - he's been worked out by defenders now and his lack of composure in front of goal isn't something we can afford.
Petratos I don't know ? He's never really been given much of a chance - but he's always made a solid effort whenever he's made an appearance.
Devlin is a great signing. Probably spells the end of Kanta though if he doesn't get fit very soon.

Connor O Toole has no ability, if he was right footed he would be lucky to be in the first 11 of a pub team in Central Australia. He only gets a start because lefties are few and far between.
Too much was made of his being part of the young Oz squad, If memory serves me correctly he was the only one who got zero minutes in Vietnam. Terribly overrated footballer.
Don't get me started on Yuel. The workers at the hockey joint and go kart joint are dead set sick of having to collect the balls from his attempted shots. Ya know its true Stanny.

My guess is that Donachie will go to Victory and we will bring in a CB on less-coin - maybe NTS, maybe someone else. Is Jordan Lennon a CB??
Also, I know Johnny is a right-sided CB. What side does Donanchie, Elsey and Jurman prefer?

Sounds like the club have read something about squad depth.
Handy acquisitions so far. In respect to champness, I think we look like a much better proposition than what we did last year, so maybe if we did make things a little tricky, he might consider coming back. (I don’t think we will actually play hard ball more than saying “hey you’re in our plans, would love to have you there”). Donachie just seems like he’d prefer bigger and better things.
I’d say our back and defensive midfield spots are pretty well covered. Just need to work on wide and attacking options now.

I just saw someone mention Jets shaped hats and now that I've come back from the bathroom, what's going on? I assumed that we would have to wait for our new owners to come in and make them happen.
I've always had it in my mind that whoever brings in Jets Shaped hats will be our owner's forever and will have a statue made at the stadium (even though we don't own it).
I am expecting us to be purchased on a Monday, KB kits on a Tuesday, Jets shaped hats by Wednesday, James Holland signed on a Thursday and on Friday and Saturday and Sunday we will be trying to replenish our bodies with electrolytes. Also has there been any update on Tomer Hemed? Cause if he is without a club we should for sure be putting in an offer for that dude
Pretty sure Hemed's next club has been decided according to a tweet from his other half a couple of weeks ago but no announcement as to who the club was.
Tweet just said something about the club being in Aust, So another A League club.

Nix fans were saying that since the club has already announced its departures, and Hemed wasn't one of them, the club might just be waiting to announce his resigning.
But, there's also logic to say that he's signed elsewhere as well.

Wonder if Ingham and Champness will be talking about what Joey will do next season. I'm totally ok if he wants to stay at Brisbane, it's not his fault we don't allow transfer fees between clubs and I understand why he didn't want to jump back into a sinking ship last season. But we are a much better prospect next year.
I'm sure whoever is picking the Kiwi national side wouldn't mind seeing Ingham and Champness playing on the same wing each week and forming a partnership.

Crazy eh, I just last week asked my young bloke where he was and and at what level and he said 3rd tier Italy but the club had been promoted.
Dead set would be a great signing, score goals in this overhyped league and bums on seats not just at home but would also add to crowd numbers away.

He would obviously kill it over here and would be entertaining to watch.
But, and I looked but couldn't find it, I swear I remember reading about him either investing heavily into a team or a company and the reason he dropped down to Serie B was to be able to play and still focus on that other thing. So, he went down to play for Monza and only played half a season because of "mystery injuries" and when they didn't get promoted they said they needed someone they could rely on.
I could be wrong with a heap of that, but I remember him definitely having some reason to want to stay in Italy.

Yeah, but all of that "outside the cap" shit is if we have money to spend outside the cap. That's like saying "we aren't spending any of Kanta's $300k in the cap because of how long he has been here" but spending $300k under the cap because we can't afford to spend it all.
Best of my knowledge only 50% of his wages go toward the cap. A 10yr thing i believe.

Seems more unlikely that we will sign Elsey, to me. We now have a lot of centre backs! Also seems unlikely that we will re-sign NTS too.
The one I haven't seen mentioned on here is Stametelopoulos. I wonder if we are at the point where we will offer him a season or not.
Interesting tweet I also read is that Devlin, Ingham, Jurman, Warland, Al-Taay and Arthur Papas all belong to the agency Footballhousplus (Tony Rallis). Stamatelopoulos is also a player to that agency.

I think we are set at the back now, Pappas seemingly confirming in the story he will play with a back 4. Plenty of cover here now - Ingham, Jurman, Donachie, O'Toole as starters. Hoffman, Al-Taay, Johnny, Warland as backups. Probably signals the end of NTS.
Need some another body or 2 to play centrally - Starters being Devlin, O'Doherty and Gus, Kanta who knows, Johnny in a pinch, would feel better if we signed another CM though.
Up front needs to be the focus, right now we would probably be starting Archie, Lucas and Joey if he stays. Yuel, Kosta and Archbold backing them right now. Need a big time Marquee Striker.

I don't know what to read into this about how we will set up too.
I think our keepers are sorted. Letting one go was always going to be needed, as 3 keepers on the book in a squad-limited league is a waste.
Right fullback we have Ingham and Hoffman. Koutroumbis has also filled in there in the past - so could do so if needed.
Centrally, we have Donachie, Jurman, Koutroumbis, Warland, Al-Taay.
Left fullback we have O'Toole and Mauragis.
Centre mid we have O'Doherty, Thurgate, Devlin, Archbold, Kantarovski. Many on here think Koutroumbis is better in a holding midfield role. Personally, i'm yet to be convinced.
Wingers we have Champness and Petratos.
Strikers we have Goodwin and Yuel.
I think our remaining 3 spots need to be broken up to a midfielder, striker and winger.
Thoughts?

Id think Kanta will be considered more of a replacement centre back and hes def not getting a run in the mids in front of Johnny K.
Johnny K has been great in the limited time hes spent there recently and its his favoured position. Id love to see him get an extended run there especially with mobile people around him like Odoh, Devlin and Thurgate.
It also seems like anyone involved in that ridiculous kick off move we did last year has been jettisoned from the club. Good news, it was an embarrassment to the game. Hilariously enough I watched an U/13's team do it on the weekend. The had to do it several times because the other team kept going up the other end and scoring. It didn't work for them either.

That kick off move is stuff alot of top teams in Europe do. We just don't have the quality to pull it off
And yet here we are.....still ****ing doing it anyway.
I saw Dale Buggins jumping 20 buses one day you still don't see me breaking out the Peewee 50 and heading down to the depot for a crack do you?
