Back in that young world cup (or whatever it was) that Hoole, DDS, etc played in (the one that Hoole did that great assist), I thought Maclaren was the standout striker. We also used Taggz and Gameiro in that tournament, so I remember thinking it was a big deal that I rated Maclaren so much higher.
Maclaren I think needs a move so he can take that next step. He can come to us and be one of the main men, sort of like the opportunity Taggart took.
After sitting through hours of WHS bullsh!t yesterday (and currently am now), I would say it goes more under a "grievance" than bullying.. Apparently there is a difference, but I've been drifting in and out of the real world while this monotonous bollocks goes on..
fark they all stinked.
but perth were shit last year i guess.
Yes Perth were pretty terrible but I recall McLaren being especially bad.
From what I've seen this year he's only really scored from set-pieces or simple goals late on against a tiring defence.
Agree with this.
Plus to be fair Perth are playing pretty stinky football this year.
Fair bit of hoofing, set pieces and Rubes smokers getting them results they prob don't deserve.
Don't like watching them much at all and the good teams seem to have worked them out.

I feel like we have enough young strikers as is that I'd say unless he is unbelievably talented, we just leave it
Interesting.
His finishing I'll say is somewhat hit and miss. He's had some great chances that he's fluffed or hit the post a few times.
His decision making though, I can't fault tbh. To me, he's a terrific target man. He bounces off his marker, holds the ball up really well, and when he actually has friends offering him support usually finds a way to find them. Not many players are that strong on the ball in the league IMO, I can think of few ever in the league to be able to hold it up as well as he can.
Look at Alivodic's goal on the weekend - Edson drops between defenders and mids to create space, turns with two men on him, Alivodic is actually making a run to support Edson and Edson manages to get the turn on and thread the pass to him. I feel like these kinds of things would have happened so many more times over the season if we had players actually interested in offering him support. Edson and Mitch Cooper, when played close enough, seem to be forming a great partnership playing each other in.
Montano couldn't hit the floor with his hat, it would fly off and land in a tree. First plane outa town.
When? His one in six goal return is about the same as Montano and Montano has the extra difficulty of not speaking English and being in a team lead by negative nubbins.
Montano also had nothing to do with forcing out players he didn't like.
What exactly did self serving Mr Right Connexions ever actually do apart from looking after his own skin?
His goal return was better than Montano is and Montano is out here with far younger legs then what Bridges had.
Comparing the 2 is chalk and cheese.
Montano has been ordinary at best and has done nothing for the club to make the loan a permanent deal. Visa spot and a goal every 8 games, money and spuad space better spent elsewhere.
Sign him up Tinks
12 goals, 66 matches in a far better side and under better coaching while speaking the same language.
3 goals, 22 matches under Stubbins, completely and utterly isolated up top, not a single squad member speaking the same language.
At his current rate, Montano would have 9 in 66... hardly a difference that make Bridges "much better". More like chalk and chalk of a different colour.
If he wasn't robbed of that goal on the weekend, he would have the exact same goals per game. And if Edson scores two more goals before the end of the season, he has a better goal per game return than Bridges.
Also, Montaño hasn't opened any small bars or revitalised an iconic Novocastrian nightspot
I mean, what's he playing at?
The "very good squad" that didn't win their opening ten games under the same shit coach playing the same negative tactics?
Yeah, okay.
The Bridges hate is more feral (and bordering on mania) than the BK version sometimes - was he superstar for us? Of course not. His return from retirement was probably not the best move but remember he was asked by the management to reconsider.
His first run was more than useful, have a look at some of the goals he setup or scored in that period.
On top of that, he was a major stabiliser when Con turned to shit and again when Tinks first spat the dummy. He provided leadership, pure and simple, at difficult times - could easily have pulled stumps and gone elsewhere.
I feel that most of the "haters" have it against him purely because he is perceived as the one and only reason Ljubo left. Forget that Kasey also had a serious falling out with him (if you can see a couple of his anti Ljubo interviews anywhere they are quite insulting), or that Ljubo did verbally abuse Bridges wife before Bridgey went for the jugular.
Much other perception of Bridges around the squad is just that - perception.
Bridges has left the building - I don't know why he is constantly brought up for no apparent reason by the "manics".
I hate all of our players.
haha remember when ljubes went to smash sash's car window with his boots
I know I pretty much brought him up and I'm sorry to my fellow haters for doing so. I'm more than happy not to mention or hear about him again.
OK, I'll add a bit of data here. I'll even throw Heskey in there for shits and giggles. I'd love to compare a similar player with the language barrier such as Song (but he isn't a striker), Zura and Jardel but they never scored. Jeffers isn't worth the bother nor is Misura. This is about Visa players so not bringing in Griff, Ryu and Taggz. I could throw Brockie in there but he doesn't have the language barrier.
I think it's fair to compare 1st seasons. Bridges got 6 in 15 games, Montano 3 from 22. Heskey 9 in 23 (overall Heskey got 10 in 42 with us).
If you're going to compare it's probably fair to compare on goals per minute played over their Jets career
BRIDGES - one goal every 245 minutes played
MONTANO - 517 minutes per goal.
HSEKEY - 312 minutes per goal.
Then think about assists - last weekend was the first Montano has provided. Bridges provided 5, Heskey 4.
Bridges surrounded by a better team? Without a doubt. But look at who Montano was surrounded with pre-sacking (round 15) when he was surrounded by your Carneys, Kews, Celeskis and Griffs not to mention Hoole, Flores and Neumann...his goals per minute then?
MONTANO - A goal every 337 minutes.
Montano was also more clinical pre-sacking. He had, in 15 games, 18 shots on goal, 8 of which were on target and 3 of those he scored from. Since then he's had more shots per game (21 in 7) and is yet to score*
Montano when he first arrived and started scoring he was scoring on about par with Bridges. Since the change in tactics, and his isolation, it's my summation the service has dried up, any sniff of goal he's having a hit but also we've removed other options for scoring so he's feeling a level of responsibility to carry the team because let's face it, Scott Neville and Lee Ki-Je are the only two close to him in the scoring charts. Plus I've noticed a change in his demeanor recently. I think there's something else going on...
