    no need for VAR.

also the Colombian goal looked like it was given straight away as well. does goal line tech tell the ref instantly or is there a lag. because hes got it right again.

    This is right.

I don't know if it still does, but it used to take a few (maybe 5) seconds for that system to work it out and then ping the ref's watch. I would say either they have improved the technology's computing speed or the call was made by the official on the line. A third option might be that for cases where its well over the line, the goal line tech can more easily/quickly confirm that this is the case.

Trippier plays for Spurs and has been pretty good over the last season or two, I think he came to the fore more this season with Walker leaving them for City.

I think the commentators said Maguire (Harry) plays for Leicester. Don't know much about him.

Engerlund looked pretty good in the first half, some better finishing and they could give a lot of teams some trouble.

Trippier signed a few years ago from Burnley and was highly rated.

Maguire was signed by Leicester last season from Hull, I think.

Group H looks as wide open as any. I didn’t watch either game though. All set to watch the 3 games today on demand... but stupid me put ESPN on for the baseball while watching Russia v Egypt on my phone, and I saw the other 2 scores flash up at the bottom.

At this stage, who is everyone’s pick to win it? Hardly any of the favourites have looked impressive so far.

Maybe Germany to shrug off first match blues, or Croatia or Russia as a smoky?

Spain and Portugal looked impressive but came up against each other.

Spain need goals from midfield, Costa just doesn't suit them.

Portugal need Guedes and Andre Silva to step up and feed off Ronaldo more. They can't rely on him every game.

Croatia didn't actually look amazing in their game. They would be a long shot for the final, sorry PV4.

Brazil will play Firmino up top next game and will have shaken off a few cobwebs. They are still my favourite.

Yeah agree Brazil should start Bobby up top, but I'm not even joking in that Neymar is their biggest problem ATM.

He is such a great player but Brazil without him look so much more lethal.

What a conundrum to have tho.

Panama to shake off the first round clash against Belgium to cause England some trouble.

    England were such trash.

Belgium had Hazard running the show, now they have to contend with Raheem Sterling.

Costa may not suit them but he will piss off defenders to no end and win the games on his own. Provided of course he doesnt blow a gasket and attack someone

Pissing off defenders doesn't win you cups.

Blocking channels that Isco, Silva and Iniesta want to exploit doesn't help your team score either, as he has a tendency to do. Good player, but he should have stuck with Brazil.

I agree he shouldve stuck with Brazil but look at Spain's first goal. Spain have players to hit that pass every time and Costa in that situation is scoring 9/10.

Yeah this is a great example.

There were FIVE defenders around Costa and he had no support.
Any other front man turns and recycles possession. No doubt.

Costas like, 'nah lemme just burrow in here and get shot and off'.

Not sure he scores 9/10 ,times but I'm damn sure hes shooting 10/10 times.

When's he on he is. If you can piss him off hell get sent off but not if you get sent off first

It one of his main problems.

Some times he just gets lost in the head and forgets playing the game to score goals/ win etc and is more focused in drawing fouls from the opposition

Watching the last 15 mins of the game that was what he was most interested in doing
Exactly if he would have played properly then I reckon we lose. But the stop start set piece play etc suits us.

    One game means **** all

    Nothing has changed really

The winner will start to show about 2nd rd / quarter stage

By then we will have enough of an idea
France Argy etc aint going to have teams parking the bus when they get to the stage of the tournament they playing the bigger sides so their form is irrelevant

    Sorry.

    I was mistaken.

It was 6 if you include the Goalie.
