    Spectacular Goals

Umm Listening to some idiots last night on Fox Sports carrying on about the goal Engelaar scored for Heart from half way.

Were arguing that this was a best goal seen in the HAL this season and even better than Rooneys effort V West Ham over the weekend

Maybe I am crazy but hoofing the ball 50 metres with it under control and on the deck isn't to me that hard of a task for a professional footballer let alone most amatuers. Chances are you should be able to hit it close/in the goal a fair few times out of 100.

Sure it looks spectacular but when the keeper is off the line as long as you strike it reasonably right it ain't that difficult a thing to do.

Rooneys to me is a much greater strike by a long way as it required striking the bouncing ball which he didn't fully have under control anyway. That thing could end up anywhere and to actually lob the keeper from that range in that situation is a lot harder to my way of thinking than striking a ball rolling on the carpet that you have under control as Engelaar did

Matter of fact Engelaars goal wasn't even the best goal scored in the HAL this weekend.

Griffos volley in the last minute of the Nix game across the body and into the top corner beats everything else hands down

Yeah, I've always thought that about Miranda Kerr. She's kind of got a doughy face and I heard her toes are quite odd shaped.

Yari litmanen scored the best goal I've ever seen.

Marked by two defenders on the top of the box, he stuck his leg between the two to blind volley the ball in the top corner.

Champions league knockout stages etc etc

    This.

also the moment has a lot to do with it.

    Zidane Champions League Final.

Can't believe I going public in admitting this one, Maradona the Fat C#@t against England.

Wayne Rooney on debut against Arsenal I think it was 16yr old backing himself against a top notch defence hits the underside of the bar from outside the box was a cracker.

Kewell in his Leeds days takes a long ball on the Chest from 30yrd+ 1 bounce volley.

Ian Rush mid 90's V United volley on the turn with his back to Goals, it was the beginning of a love affair with Liverpool from that moment on for this foz user.

Me and believe me I'm no Beckham, it's a opportunistic goal not a Great Goal.

    this.
all it takes is awareness of the keeper and kicking a ball straight.
id expect most half decent professional players to be able to hit the target from half way.
the rest comes down being able to know where the keeper is and have the balls to hit it.
Engalaar couldnt have had this situation set up any easier.

volley's from "behind you" strikes from distance when under pressure, and well positioned keeper and defenders are way more spectatcular.

Both of griff's goals this weekend were better.
not blowing smoke up his arse (excpet for maybe crediting him with the final goals but those both those volleys were more difficult.

FFS even Weak ankles culer was better
