Good pick up, but isn't goody only available every 2nd week or so due to work.
There will be a bit of in house turmoil if bolchy starts picking him in front of 100% available players.
It might have worked a bit for azzurri because he was there for so long and they adapted to it from the start.

We do know that goody does love a suspension or two during the season...
When I grow up, I want to be Yohan Cabaye.

If he didn't want to comment on the departure then it's possible there could have been a falling out, good pick up for olympic though

Ego is hard to manage. When you've been the go to man for a long time then you're used as a sub in games because the team has a new focus it is hard to swallow.Nothing more than that.

A consistent goal scorer on the bench makes perfect sense

Have heard that he is not the only unhappy player up their and the ego problem may be the coaches and not the players. Just what I have heard Tonester

It's not as black & white as it seems.A new broom was needed to sweep away some issues which I alluded to last season.I'm sure Shane Pryce, after a year at the helm, knows what he's looking for & has the courage of his conviction to do what he seems necessary. He was the same as a player.

Going on previous seasons I'd back them to challenge for the semis.Let's see how Goody goes at Olympic before we jump to any hasty conclusions.I Still reckon Azzuri will finish higher than Olympic.

I find it bizarre that with players of the calibre of Smith and Goodchild up front the club would wish to pursue a formation that doesn't play to that strength.

Not being close to Azzurri goings on it does seem looking in from the outside that there are issues of discontent there for Goodchild to walk out so close to the season start.

Whats that Magurie and now Goodchild bailing on the club??

You must be a giant if you're way taller than Shane Price

Let me fill you in on the situation.Maguire should not have been signed last year as,on performance,he was well past his prime & as his form was terrible he was told he was on the bench & he spat the dummy & walked out 10 minutes before kickoff.Hearfield left because he wanted more money. He has approached Azzuri since leaving Weston, don't know what will transpire on that front.Harper had no intention of playing this year due to travelling up & down each week.He signed for Valentine due to the cash they offered him. With Kane his preseason form didn't warrant a start in FFA Cup hence the walkout.Unless you see Kane every week you are not privy to his week in week out performances,he started to believe all the feel good stories about himself & it has affected the way he plays. He has many more mediocre games than good ones believe me.Wish him well at Olympic though,he's a good guy.

Been watching/listening on the sidelines and thought I would chime in, take from it what you like. For the last 4-5 seasons the club has mainly been run by the 'undropable' stalwarts of the playing group, basically with a coach to show face. With the introduction of SP to the mix he has his own ideas and certain players I feel dont like this (we are all resistant to change). Managing ego's and changing systems that some could argue have worked over the last few seasons is a hard task. I feel any coach and especially SP has and still has some tough decisions to make. From what i gather Maguire, Hearfield, Goodchild, Tull are all big ego's and personalities to manage. Another thing I gather is a lot of players not just exclusive at CCB want all the money/accolades in the world but wont do the simple things to earn it, i.e turn up to training/club functions and put in a good shift. I think there is a debilitating culture at CCB and SP is trying to shake that up. Will it work? only time and results will tell. They have some decent younger talent comming through the ranks who I feel will still be a few more years off but could make an impact. I also feel there is some untapped depth in the 20 man squad that might get a look in and suprise a few people now a few of these older ego's are moving onto newer pastures. Just my 2cents, still a massive coop for Hamiltion as Goodchild is a quality player/person.

    Good post

Still find the bizarre nature of shaking culture up all the time. Their always seems a lot of collateral damage see Muppet.

There seems to be a lot of people in the world who seem to be unable to adapt survive and thrive and far too many who get boned needlessly due to someone's desire for this culture shit

Rather bizarre the timing 2 weeks before season as it has limited Goodchilds options of where he can go with the PPS and also cost Azzurri decent time to scout a replacement

Totally agree with last two posts.I've played & coached State League level in both Melbourne & Sydney & there's nothing different here in Newcastle.Football tends to lend itself to selfish players making unrealistic demands to the detriment of the whole. As for the timing of Goodys departure it was his decision & poor old Azzuri weren't in the loop.Bad look from Kane unfortunately.
