Maclaren is not off contract. He signed a 3 year deal when he joined Glory in 13/14.
He is trying to get out of his contract, hence the speculation, but SST are saying Perth won't release him
Perth don't have a leg to stand on. They breached his contract and he is entitled to walk away if he wants. The entire Perth squad can if they so desire.

The gentlemens agreement was by the owners. Reportedly 8 out of 10 of the owners agreed not to sign any Perth player who were asking Perth for a release, and asked to join their club. They didn't name the 2 clubs that did not agree to the agreement (but I am fairly sure judging by the rumours that WSW are one of them, and possibly MV are the other), but Tinkler was first and foremost rallying for it.
