Also, do we have one of our younger players off under Junior Marquee wages?
I'd imagine junior marquee needs to have a certain level of recent national team representation and other criteria. I doubt any of our guys qualify.
Also iirc it's not their entire wage that is outside the cap, or there's something weird about the setup.
OK
150k outside the cap from last time I recall this discussion. And Thwaite is a marquee for Perth, there can surely be no limit on who or what qualifies as a marquee these days.
*edit*
Though that may have been replaced with the 150k for up to 3 U23 NYL players or whatever the other rule is. Who knows with the FFA/PFA shenanigans.

Mitch Cooper has represented the Aus U20 team, I have no issues with him being Junior Marquee.
Also, my point is that he isn't what the entire marquee concept was all about... he's not a big name that will get people through the gates. Just **** it off and replace it with a brand new "One Visa and one Australian player outside the cap" clause instead of trying to pretend they are marquee players.
The Australian marquee is intended to entice Socceroos to return to Australia, as well as keep them here amongst all the Asian Oil Leagues throwing dollars at them.
Something that very possibly could have happened to Thwaite.
The way Robbie Middleby used to talk, the junior marquee has to be a local.
OK
Today is Thursday, nearly another week gone and still no new signings.
All the positivity and progress off the field of the past months really amounts to nothing when we still only have 14 players on our books!
Want it done right away.
But then I want to whinge when this players they signed without taking time to evaluate options don't work out.
Go jetties
I'm only asking for one or two new signings to be announced, that's not a too unreasonable expectation at this stage.
In fairness though, if Miller is in fact having the final say on new signings I can understand that he has only been back a few days and will have only assessed the curent squad and areas where we need to strengthen.
I want better players at training so our current guys are given incentive to try harder.
Also just more numbers at training in general, make it more competitive and fun to be apart of.
OK
sign richo porta
If playing for Newcastle is not enough incentive then these khunts should be shown the door.
Some people train well others don't - and it's very difficult to rate some one on their training performance alone. Look at Hoffman, as far as GVE was concerned he must have been equivalent to Lionel Messi at Training.
Others are probably a completely different story.

accepted, that time is needed in assessing the squad. However if we don't see any signings by end of next week then i think many questions need to be raised in what is FFA doing in managing the club??. I have a slight feeling that we may want to sign players but it is being rejected by the FFA as they are looking to sell the ownership before they pour anymore money into the club.?
Let's just hope the coaching staff can implement a structure that can keep us competitive. This year that is best outcome for us, we were never going to be able to challenge or be finals contenders in these first 2 years. if we do (awesome news) it will be an outstanding feat by the coaching staff.
my only concern really is i think something is going on behind the scenes restricting us from signing any players as of yet!
