In fact there is a lot to suggest that pressure for positions can actually have the opposite effect whereby individuals start putting themselves before the best interests of the team.

Duncan fumbled a wet ball in slippery conditions - that is what happened. Keepers in the top leagues around the world have done just as bad and in a lot of cases worse than Duncan did last night. Did they stuff up because of no pressure for their position ? Of course not - and neither did Duncan.
    hahahaha

it wasn't a fumble. It was a monumental **** up. Worst punch since Vukovic slapped the ref.

So? Still very much cause for concern.

No more concern than any other players ****ing up, which they all tend to do, and a lot more often. Every keeper is going to do it, it's better that it happens when we still end up with 3 points and I'd like to think JD will be a little more wary of it now.

Whilst you were going through the 12 stages of grief the other night where were you at when Duncan took that regulation cross then quickly sent the ball out to LeiLei who put Nobby through on goal.

cause I've seen a lot of keepers go to ground there and chew the clock.

Not our boy Dunc though. Wanted to win.

He is a young guy playing in the A-League... Do you really expect no mistakes or errors?
Gees just search youtube for premier league keeper howlers, theres plenty of better, more experienced keepers making much worse mistakes! Its sport, there human error, thats the beauty of it!

They're also reporting Lee will release $250,000 to help recruit some player(s) for the rest of the season.

Also Ugarkovic is close to agreeing a new deal with the club

    No. No. No.

Keepers and strikers cannot make monumental **** ups regularly. If they do then they're not first team quality.

Some positions you can get away with the odd **** up, goalkeeper is not one of those.

He's made some fantastic saves this season, but his blooper reel is growing.

I expect my keeper, regardless of the level, to not punch the ball into his own net. I expect a HAL keeper to not have a blunder every 3-4 weeks.

We won the game with the keeper making a blunder. No harm done. What would you rather...the keeper makes a blunder and we lose 1-0.

    agree!!!

enough of the Duncan chat...GET OVER IT, he made a mistake, his not the first and he knows it. We move on

on more important news within the squad thread - beside the media reports of cooper possibly departing, Bridge interest. Does anyone actually have any inside goss/rumours?

    3-4 weeks is conservative.

He has a ****-up that could cost a goal nearly every game.

He has also made some great saves. He lacks consistency. His decision making is poor. Thankfully his shot stopping is excellent at times. This is why he's never been a first team player though (except for us).

So no player can be criticised if we won?

    What are you? 12?

Been told Rhys Williams was being eyed up as a potential recruit for next season, however with reports of him likely being released from glory early into his contract, it will be interesting to see if they pursue him now

What changed from Ugarkovic being tapped up by Poppa to now the Herald reported he is close to signing a new deal? Not tryign to be smart by the way. Just curious.
