Poljak won't start for any other HAL team. If he wants to remain as a professional player in Australia he will take a pay cut and be happy with a squad role.
I don't buy the theory that Brown can't play as an 8. Yes we lost when he played there but we also had no movement further up the park and plenty of injuries if I remember. With a decent striker infront Brown has the talent and engines that Poljak doesn't. Petratos is coming to play #10 so Brown needs to move further back and certainly not wide.
The home grown bonus and loyalty bonuses are irrelevant when we aren't using the designated (marquee) player positions.
The Jets work on a budget and regardless of which supplement we use we stay within it.
What I mean is there should be no consideration for Kanta being on the loyalty bonus if we aren't using the designated players. Both are outside the cap.

I'd sign Kanta for $65k a season - but no more. And given what's on offer in Thailand and so on there's no way he would stay for that sort of money.
If the club were to offer him even $100k a season it would be a massive mistake.

I think Poljak would start for the Mariners and Nix.
I think Brown can play as an 8 as well (definitely not wide - I agree). Where I was trying to go was saying that both Ugarkovic and Brown (both who I see as an 8) would leave us a bit more exposed because they want to move forward naturally as a part of their game.

Brown could also play behind the striker aswell but I'm sick of hearing people worry about too much competition for places. We need competition for places.
Let's say hoole re-signs and is playing dross again at the start of next season but we have better back up options like replacing him with petratos and moving brown up to attacking mid and bringing ugarkovic in at 8.
Was more saying that just because Kanta has been here for years it shouldn't influence our decision to sign him as long as we don't use marquees. We are going to spend X amount on players whichever outside cap allowance we use.
If we had used all our cap and signing Kanta allowed us to move 150k outside the cap, we could alternatively make Boogaard a marquee and move his 300k outside the cap.
Using the loyalty allowance isn't such a draw card as it would be for SFC who use all of them and can access an extra 150k they wouldn't be able to otherwise.
NPL player has the added benefit of a 24th squad member, as opposed to the others that come within the 23

Jets need to start using all the outside the cap allowances at our disposal, teams like Sydney and Victory do it every season and it's part of the key to how they're so successful
Also saw in the article about Kokko not getting much game time they mentioned signing some more young players, all for signing youth but hopefully jones doesn't go to all in on young unproven kids
I hope that's a youth contract and not an A-League one ? Otherwise we are just rolling the dice /developing talent for Sydney FC and so on. Because if any of these kids show they are ready the bigger clubs will snap them up very fast. And if they don't make the grade , which is the usual case - the jets waste time and money on a lottery when they could have simply paid for a proven player instead - for less money in the long run.

Moric is 17 so you would hope it's NYL. Shabow is on a senior deal at WSW so it would be a senior deal for us as well
On this topic, why are transfer fees not allowed in the league? I don't see what the point is. Transfers still happen, but the original club just gets screwed and the existing contracts are "mutually terminated". Can anyone shed some light?
The question that needs to be asked is why don't WSW wish to retain Shabow ? Considering their lack of goal scorers that should be a signal for the jets to run a mile. Add to that only on 1 year deal at WSW and only had one appearance - and that was against the Gypos.
Lets hope he came very cheap.
