Clubs do it all the time (maybe not our club, as they are inept).
However, Jones looks like he knew the writing was on the wall weeks ago. Swift sacking post season. If (and it's a big if) the club was planning properly they would have a manager in mind and would be informally discussing recruitment.

In any case, most coaches would like a regular, hard working goal scoring in this league as a signing.

It would appear that negotiations (which have been going some time) were too far progressed to put a stall on it - I'm comfortable with the decision.

Good to see it's under the cap. Throw some big money at a quality 10

Sounds like we've offered him a nice retirement package.

If he has signed prior to Jones getting the arse then fair enough we have to honour the deal

But if he is actually putting pen to paper since lunch time Sunday then we are well within our rights to hold off on committing

If it meant we missed out on Our Caravan then so be it

Negotiation 101 until both sides have signed all promises are worth shit from both parties

If we had a competent CEO we would do things like this but we are a basket case of a club who employ Lord Mayor's for the gig instead

For a proven goal scoring record.. I am comfortable with that (8.6% Salary cap or 7.9% of what we are entitled to spend under the 'cap')

That would represent good value tbh.

The fact 5/10 A-League clubs were openly chasing him, safe to say he is a player we should sign regardless.

All other negotiations are now being stalled secondary to no coach being in play as yet.

I think people forget that players are unlikely to sign 1 year deals. And while we shouldn't be held to ransom by players, we'd be doing bloody well to sign a decent squad to 1 year contracts. Not to mention if they perform well, re-signing most of them after 1 year would be nigh on impossible while a salary cap exists.

Not sure where you got the 5/10 from.

    Us
    Brisbane
    WSW

Brisbane have a far superior striker.
    WSW could use him.

I'm happy with 250k. Seems a reasonable amount for a decent player. Considering we're paying Boogs 320k!!

Has nothing to do with who is chasing him

Our new manager who ever that may be needs 100% control of incoming / out going players for next season

Why you advocating we sign a player that may not even for the game plan of new manager??

We seen what happened when Jones didn't utilise Kokko as he didn't rate him

The other thing to note is Foreigners can give us a point of difference under the new bloke

Why mow his ****ing grass and take up spot no 3 behind Kokko and Brown whom he may not even want either

Then the new manager can sell him if he doesn't want him. I'm sure there will be clubs lining up for a 20/42 ratio striker

Brisbane are also losing the far superior striker so were actively chasing a replacement.

Same reservations here. We will have him totally isolated and the goals will simply dry up.

We have to score goals first before they can dry up.
