I would. It's good to have a player who has shown some ambition and tested himself, who wants to aim higher and achieve more. He will be better for the experience and add to teh fact he's a local that has been consistently scoring we could do worse than giving him a go. Had Miller stayed I think he'd have got more of a shot last year than he actually did.

We are only missing 4 spots on our roster and all teams are on holidays. Even playing field so far.

In seasons past, we would still have 4 spots to fill the week before the first game

Jesus Christ, we're suddenly worried about how well the Mariners are recruiting?? Baro, Golec, some Dutch guy that hasn't even arrived yet, and Hoole who couldn't do enough to lift us off the bottom of the table. Watch out everyone, they're going to win the league

Yet we sign Georgevski, who was in the same defensive line as Baro, but some think he's not good enough and we should be aiming higher? Make up your ****ing minds.

Look at the 4 positions we have left though. One will be a #10 and will add quality to the side. Not sure you could say that about the other 3.

Another will be a Chinese player, and I expect an unknown quantity. What we know is wages are high in China so you would expect the quality of player we would attract to be not that great at best. I would expect at wide attacker to replace Hoole.

The other 2, well Merrick was quoted that there would be defensive signings. So am expecting them to be a DM and a CB. I also think judging by Merrick statements these will be older experienced players. If I ou look at the open market of Australian players, I think at best Nick Ansell for CB we could expect but still think that we will recruit more ex Nix Players. Still banking that one will be Vince Lia as he is definitely leaving for a NSW club.

I don't think this squad is good enough and will struggle, again

Disagree - triallists often head over to get better than they are, most with little if any senior experience.

Getting a trial doesn't mean you are good enough. Can't pin this on the club who, looking at some comments above, can't do anything right..

You can pin it on Jones. He clearly deserved more than 9 minutes in a season where we struggled for strikers.

Whereas at the same time we signed Champness longer term, who then earned a trial at Brighton. We dropped the ball with Bymora.

Slow down with your Jones bashing

I have watched more than enough of Bymora in the Yoof.

That he got a gig with the FT squad says more about Northerns failings and GVE Zane etc

The current batch of EJ is terrible

    The worst of the lot

No offence to Bymora but if he doing well enough at the Jets he gets an opportunity at the club

It ain't like we flush with talent

It also ain't like we don't rotate our squad either

Other than BK I think everyone got a game in the HAL last season

There is a massive failing at the Jets period
We have been shit for years but not one of the managers has had the balls to pluck a kid from the Yoof and plonk him in the first team

Lundy got **** all of a go here as he had 4 managers in 3 years

He was killing it in the Yoof but not even getting on the bench in the HAL

Lundy was a more realistic option to play first team football than Bymora

I'd say a reason for a poor batch of Youth players is that we don't have a steady coaching situation and there isn't a realistic pathway for them through to the first team. Cowbrn is the only one to progress through int he last few years.

I hear what you are saying but surely he deserved more than 9 minutes. If he is worthy of EPL trials then he was worth a look at least

Realistically we have 3 teams around us at the moment to compete against. Nix, Radelaide and the Gypos. We finished last, the Marinators finished 2nd last. If we want to improve on our position next season we need to make sure we are better than they are firstly and then move further up the list. Simple.

Thus, if the above statement is true and we have signed 2 players who are filling gaps in our playing roster and they have signed 3... (Plus they were actually signed by the coach who will be making the decisions this year)... we are currently not moving ahead of them. If you somehow read these simple points as 'they're going to win the league' then maybe the is appropriate, just not in the way you first intended.

If you aren't worried about what the teams around us doing in the off season then why are you even reading this section of the foz? I can only assume that the politics thread would be blowing up right now.

You completely missed my point. People are suddenly concerned at who the Mariners have signed. I can guarantee if we'd signed the same 4 players, the foz would be writing the season off, expecting another spoon, and bashing Lee & Lawrie relentlessly for not showing enough ambition. It's still May and we've already signed two players who I think are improvements to the squad. Just show some patience.

Brisbane have lost Mclaren, Broich & Borrello. How are they going for replacements? Who have Wanderers signed? Do Nix or Adelaide even have a coach yet?

So Joel couldn't get Ryan in because Jonesy thought he was too old eh?

Life isn't the same without Con... but it can only improve without Tinks...

    Disagree

Message needs to be sent to any other clown that playing for the Gypos is not an option
