2021 FFA Cup (local NNSW thread)

I was going to say I’m surprised at the reluctance for councils to invest in our sport but then i remembered, this is Newcastle. We don’t like change, people will tie themselves to a big old ugly tree to avoid it.

There is a reluctance for councils to hand over money to clubs who want it done all their own way.Some club officials may be better off doing a short course in Negotiating 101 before entering the room.You are 100% correct about the tree people though.

How would someone do this?

You would have to get every club on board. Because even if just one pays overs for players they will win the comp and all the other clubs will follow suit.

A salary cap won't work. NNSW can't audit the player points system properly let a lone a salary cap. And Sydney FC's sombrero shows that salary caps don't really help (Roosters too). Plus, NNSW would have to increase man power to police it and clubs would find a work around.

Perhaps I am missing how this would works practically?

The clubs were handed the perfect opportunity over the last few years. No relegation and promotion was aimed at this imo.
Give clubs a chance to build a sustainable model and invest in facilities, with no risk of being relegated.

Pardon my ignorance but does anybody know what's going on with the FFA Cup resuming in Queensland. Is it going ahead without NSW, Vic. and Northern NSW clubs?

When I was watching last night they said they were doing the round of 32 (this round isn't it?) in a hub format so that the states that can play will have teams to go to the round of 16 and then everyone else will catch up when they can.

I was only half listening but I think that's what they said on commentary.

Going in with some form I suppose. In a game like this you need to draw on every positive you can, it would go down in Newcastle folklore if they could produce a result, same with Olympic on Saturday. I’ll be supporting both of them

Pretty harsh, he made a lot of good saves and the conditions weren’t great but if you’re a magic hater then I can understand where your view is coming from

Magic did pretty good considering,

Think Nate was injured according to the herald
