I think we have 4 of 5 of our preferred front 3 signed. Sotirio will be the 5th.

Midfield will be thurgate and O'Neill with a yet to be signed player as a 10.

Back 4 as is so far.

Sotirio will be spending most game days in the stand in his club after 5's or at home on away game weekends watching from his lounge.

At least we won’t have a “not my squad” to fall back on.

Aside from penha, seems like we are identifying targets and getting them. Much the same as we identified those to let go. I imagine all would have been happy to stay.

Yeah, Penha was our precision long pass specialist, don't know who's going to fill that gap

Yeah I get that. There's more of a connection with Yuel though. Who's Buhagiar? Ex coastie and Sydney FC? No thanks.

Give a local bloke a go. Bring back Virgilli. Play Hoff on the wing.

We're replacing a decent A-league player with a decent A-league player who stinks of sccum.

Would you rather win 1-0 with a team of coasties or lose 1-0 with a team of locals? Sure professional sport is all about winning. But what good is winning when you've got no connection to your local club?

Play the kids. Play the locals. Sure bring in quality, but Buhagiar ain't it imo

I get the vibe that our club has very little interest in our locals atm. If Archie wasn’t already signed to the club when Papas got here it wouldn’t surprise me if we still looked elsewhere.

None of our younger signings under Papas have been newcastle related and based on rumours it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change this off season either.

If you want to watch locals go watch Broadmeadow or wateva, this is a business about getting more bums on seats. I was a temp for many years but became a member when they signed 2 blokes from England

Yuel left. He went to pursue an overseas contract. Let's just get that straight.

I bet you're in a very small minority. Sure those big names get people in the gate but the club's done nothing to keep them coming back.

The fact it is a business and the team is a franchise is exactly the feeling you get from them club and it's exactly why the league as a whole is struggling.

Of course I'd want to support a successful side. But I think a side you have zero connection with is some pretty hollow success.

I used to be hugely emotionally invested in the club, but I can feel it slipping away.

Fair enough about Yuel, I didn't realise that. Good luck to him. Signing blokes like Buhagiar and especially Sotirio as replacements isn't very inspiring. Just the A-League merry go round

He is 100% correct though. Professional football, not just this league, is about results and money....whatever it takes. And that involves high player turnover and favourites who dont hang around. People want winners...how many people do you know who support an EPL club outside the Sky 6?

I'll take the entire Coastie team if it guarantees us trophies!

I agree with your sentiment but sadly those days are gone for now.

anyone aware if the rumour we are chasing Ninkovic has any substance behind it or is it just hot air? seems like a somewhat odd choice if there's any truth in it

To whom it may concern at the Jets.

Please do not use the word explosive to describe Sotirio as it makes you look really silly and never seen him play.

    Cheers

agreed in the disappointment about Sotirio, especially the two years stuck with him bit, can't help but think this one is a dud signing and probably using way too much of our salary cap than he is worth...
