Kotara 5 -2 over Cessnock tonight.
Fast game with loads of chances. Cessnock GK kept it respectable until a late blowout.

They haven't played in ZL1 before but they played twice last year.
One win for each (2-1 Stockton 1st time they played and 4-2 Croatia in the 2nd game)
And the year before as well. I am assuming Cog's stats are purely for ZL1

Real talk, is it time to abolish NewFM?

Promote Stags and someone else to NPL, put the rest back in the ZFL where they belong.

Well now with promotion and relegation right through the system over the next few years it should just naturally sort itself out.

Looks like those NewFM teams maybe rested some players, thinking it would be an easy game. Considering Lakes and Cessnock both played on the weekend with only 2-3 days rest and none of those ZPL teams did. Having said that, there is a lot of quality in the ZPL this year and it seems those NewFM teams will be in the lower half of the table in their own comp

I'd get rid of the name of it. Label it NPL 2 and then let the pyramid go to work over the next few years. Both npl division have 10 teams. There's probably only the resources and talent to facilitate 20 clubs in the region to have npl status.

Kids, parents and clubs still get npl 'status' for marketing, promoting, development and egos.

Anyway smarter people than us are at work on all this.

Not really if you consider no one from zl1 will be getting a jdl licence to fleece parents of thousands a year to fund mediocre first graders longer term and no zone league club will be eligible for npl you?re just making up numbers in npl2
I feel most would prefer to keep things smaller and play zone leagues for more enjoyment

Because they played mainly reserves (and in Dudley's case Conference League players) in the comp?

They won't call it NPL2 because then Northern have to pay extra for licensing.

Did not know they all had rested players. But still valid though as the gap in quality is as small as ever. Half of ZL1 could easily compete in NewFM.

The real test will come when a NewFM team with JDL & Youth teams (charging thousands as said above) is relegated to ZL1.

Entire JDL & Youth teams leave the club, first graders not getting paid as much or at all, can't charge gate and rego fees would be less too.

From next season any club can have JDL you do not have the ne a premier club to run a JDL program from 2026.

The teams that could compete in new fm have bigger budgets than some npl clubs

If you want to get technical , Cardiff also played half of a team who is starting ressies this coming weekend.

I just don?t think people care for the cup that much because for Cardiff, it was originally to be played between Croatia and suns, which those two are more important.

Could it be a pre season cup or is that too sensible

It’s refreshing to see the sheep on this forum finally reach the conclusion I drew a year ago that the New Fm league is a joke compared to Zone league 1 and Dudley ran to it to escape Croatia. Worst kept secret in zone league is suns deliberately throwing minor premiership but even better was Dudley celebrated like they won it legitimately. Well a mid-tier zone league 1 team just made a mockery out of Dudley

Made a mockery out of Dudleys third grade team you mean?

So Dudley had to rest players for a Wednesday game so that they would be fit for a game 4 days later. Haha are the players 60 years old… just stop you’re reaching at this point and only serving to embarrass yourself. Good players want to play every game that’s a fact!

Are you on the tins Mr B - last night was a Tuesday 😂. Agree though weak as piss from Dudley either way. Curiously though, what?s your connection with Croatia? I reckon you must be just the fat coach on the sideline that just waddles about a bit and pays a bit of coin 🤷*♂️

Weak as piss from both teams. Cardiff also made wholesale changes but left a few of their good ones in there. Both teams should have just tossed a coin before kick off and whoever won the toss could have had their wish of exiting the cup that they both had no interest in playing in.
