What a joke the Jets Youth are making of this comp. If they truly want to be a part of this comp then they should be playing their best squad week in week out. It is not fair on other nbn clubs to have the jets youth gifting them wins. Tell me this Forever Red, would you have won your game if the jets youth had played a full squad?

Yes we would off, it is wrong what they do, not many teams can rest 5 first team members , the players rested probably shouldn't play NBN , it should be used as development and play younger guys, there wasn't one player yesterday who will play A league in my opinion

I didn't think Kanta could play youth league due to being a contracted first XI player? Same with Hoole?

As for making a mockery of it, their goal is developing players for the Jets A-League squad. If it means resting their entire first XI, then so be it, that's their prerogative.

IMO he is a fair way off A League and would be better served just keeping his head down and working hard etc etc. To get to the next level the first thing he has to do though is stop focusing so much on his fringe.
Maybe the big issue with his fringe was he didn't have his usual headband on yesterday. Maybe that was why he was too busy with his fringe.

Agree thoroughly his body language/attitude appeared poor yesterday. For whatever reason he came on and didn't see the ball for 15 mins and grew more and more frustrated instead of busting his arse for the cause he dropped his head. Not the type of thing that is gonna impress the HAL coach when he is looking at calling players up to the HAL side this off season. Hopefully a one off and won't see a repeat of it soon.

Long ball where bures would just muscle someone of the ball and play it away.

They play so slow, any chance they had would be wrecked by trying to win the possession count as Southy would happily set themselves up as they dicked around with the ball. The number 11 for the youth (Mundy) I believe is a superstar. Fast, good feet and a great crosser of the ball.

Could only imagine what the member was feeling when he saw kale on the bench. I know my head was exploding. Almost felt like shooting deans when he tried to give him advice before coming on.
Absolutely nailed it Newy Rover with your summarisation of the woeful ball movement at tortoise speed. Wouldn't go as far as calling Munsy a superstar yet but he shows some promise

Can't say I was blowing up seeing Kale on the bench. After the NYL season and the lineup last weekend it was more of a surprise seeing him in the squad as I was expecting him to be absent again. So to have him on the bench was a bit of a bonus. Was more dissappointed with his effort yesterday. I expect more from him than that

Maybe the best players you refer to are actually unavailable. Hoole Oxborrow Cooper Pepper etc as part of the first team squad are most likely living it up on their holidays like the rest of our first team are. Remember they are on HAL contracts and the PFA will have stipulated x amount of weeks break from training/matches each year as a standard clause in the contract. As a result the Jets are bound to giving them time off for a holiday so why wouldn't now be the right time??

That also being said the players who played yesterday Cowburn Remington Finlayson Duncan Kale etc have more than enough NYL and NBN experience at this level to put Southy away. End of the day the team was poor and got beat. They didn't get beat cause they were missing Oxborrow Hoole Cooper etc. Sure those blokes would help but if the attitude and application is as was yesterday then they won't win games at this level even with Lionel Messi playing No 10.

Fix the attitude and application and results will take care of themselves

Haven't watched the first two rounds but I've watched a fair few youth league games the past year and the jets in last seasons nbn league and from what I've seen of finlayson(I'm sure he is probably a good kid and all but) my 9 month old son shows more promise than he does. I keep seeing his name bob up on the team sheet and I think maybe he plays alright when when I'm not there, all I've ever seen him do is play with his hair.
Anyone who has seen more of him and thinks he is good feel free to correct me but I've just never understood why he is kept on.

Member, your last 2 paragraphs are spot on. Not only from a youth playing roster point of view but from a Jets youth coaching point of view as well.

While I said Kale was a fair way off A League I believe that if he gets his application/head right, he will get a lot closer to the standard in a lot quicker time. As a local boy I wish him well.

Kale should be playing with a state league club so he can gain experience from the older players, maybe some time in the gym wouldn't hurt either, his a good player but I'm not sure playing with 18 year olds really helps his development , just a thought

I would have to disagree with this comment. Kale being the youth team is everyway better than being in the state league.

Being in pro environment training all the time benefit 1.

second training with highly motivated peers 2.

training with senior team invaluable 3

learning and watching the likes of hesky and bridgy pure gold for his development 4.

that's just to name some of the major ones.

If he was playing in the state league with a state league club he would never get out of there. The technique and attitude of most players is average at best. Training 2 to 3 nights week is not great for a players development.

Now that I have read your comment again I think it is outrageous.

I'm talking about winter comp, so forget about the jets seniors , like I said, if you read it twice, it's just a thought, you never know it could benefit him, personally I don't think he will ever play A league but I could be wrong, also how on earth would you know the "attitude " of state league players

I have to agree with your thoughts about Kale on making it to the A-league. I hope he does get an A-League gig for his sake, though i dont think it willl happen.

In regards, to your shot at me personally. Been involved in football for over 25 years in a variety of countries. I dare say i can have an opinion. From my experiences when your comparing the attitudes of athletes in a professional environment to ones in the state league you cant compare. Does that adequately answer your question of how i know? Nice assumption by the way

Unless you train with the athlete and your in the sheds before the game you would have no idea of their attitude, and I don't recall having a go at you, quite the opposite I thought

I think with careful perception an attitude can be told from veiwing during game conditions, preferably more than 1. There will be subtleties that may be missed. This also can change.

Bit of a harsh last comment, i think No.11 for the jets was a stand out. Think he'll see first team football somewhere in the future. I also think young nick cowburn is a decent footballer... does he have what it takes to make the first team, spose only time will tell.
