    Westlakes v uni
    Res 1-4
We had most of our spine in first grade out which ment most of our better ressies were stepping up. That's no excuse for the result cause we played shocking for most of the game. Second goal was questionable with what I Beleive should of been a foul for us but definitely didn't change the outcome.

    First grade
    3-1
Great win for us scoring 3 goals while missing big dunc up front.
First half westlakes were dominate. Went in 2-0 up with the second being an oggy after the a head bak to the keeper went wrong.
Second half was completely different. Cats lost composure with the game becoming real scrappy and uni getting on top.
Cats keeper made some great saves and we missed some tap ins up there end.
Ill give credit to the ref in first grade. Made some errors for both teams but nothing major. Probs the best we have seen at our ground in a long time.
We had inspectors out our way today who tried to recruit me after my sideline assistant performance. Apparently I can't play soccer but can do the lines lol.

Good job.At last a player who has a handle on offside. Was happy with referee. You are wasted as a player-you know some of the rules.Would you rather play reggies or referee first grade.Over 15 years since I refereed at the ground-back in Fishys days.

1st grade finished 3-1 to Charlie.
Dominant 2nd half, got what we deserved, but made tough work of it after some more charitable defending gave tenambit a surprise lead midway through the first half.
Reserves, from what i saw, was actually one sided to charlie, but we conceded 2 absolutely terrible goals.
Their keeper (i believe thats you sharky21) had a superb game, pulling off some brilliant saves. On another day, with another keeper, it couldve been about 8-3 to Charlie. But you cant shoot yourself in the foot twice and expect to get results.
When I grow up, I want to be Yohan Cabaye.

Cheers mate that was me. Finally had a game I can be majority pleased with.
I would have to agree u guys in res did dominate and myself and the back four were working over time. But I wouldn't say the two goals were terrible. Two long range efforts to be proud of from our boys and a determined defensive effort to grab the points ( in a snatch and run style u might say) might add did play large portion of second half in res with ten men.

And in first won't deny u guys the win and how u controlled the majority of the game again. But ( &not using it as an excuse) we had two last minute changes to our squad bloke go off injured early two guys on the bench first game back from injury and the other only got back in the country thru the week. So gutsy effort from our boys ( too bad that dnt get u 3 points all the time) but as I said tithe top u controlled the game and were worthy winners.

Did u hear anything bout the ref apparently writing a report about the Tenambit crowd?? some sort of whisper went around at the end of the game.

And was anyone from ur team aware we not only played less then 45mins a half in first but they were not two equal halfs as the ref mentioned he was cutting the second half shorter because he hadn't had dinner yet. ( his words) For a ref so worried about all the stupid rules in the game (I.e the colour of my gk shorts)
he then decides to not follow the one bout two equal halfs of playing time. But I must admit I had too laugh at some of the situations he created haha.

I believe ressies striker got a double for firsts... Ressies were very disappointing big game for them and didnt aim up. Good game in firsts uni were very strong and their position on the table doesn't reflect how they play as far as I'm concerned. Westlakes snuck home IMO the 3rd goal clinching the game for them late in the second

I was at first not wearing black or the same as my team. I was wearing light blue shorts that matched my light blue shirt. its a first I have ever been pulled up on it as I have worn my light blue keeper gear for the last year or so and never had an issue.

strange. The rules dictate you have to wear team socks but can wear any shorts (clashing with anyone) and a non-clashing shirt. sounds like this ref, whoever he is, needs to learn those rules us hopeless players have no idea about.

There are too many stupid rules ref's are told to enforce that are well stupid. like seriously how does wrong colour sock tape shorts for GK's effect the game. Just petty crap if u ask me.

Love how the referees are always tackling the big issues in football! Yesterday our keeper got penalised for bouncing the ball when summing up his options to kick to. I am happy to be corrected but last time I checked that wasn't a foul. Mussy vs Medowie:

    Res 4-4
    Firsts 2-2

In ressies we really looked like running away with. Scored 2 very early goals but some deplorable defending allowed Medowie back in to the game and then each time we got ahead we couldn't consolidate and they clawed a goal back. Scrappy game, scrappy field, Medowies effort probably deserved a point. Very disappointed in our lads but.

    Firsts:

We were awful. In my opinion Medowie aren't by any means the greatest team in the comp, however there are definitely teams who will travel there and drop points, for the pure fact they are gritty, have decent support behind them, have an awful field that is well suited to their play and a home grown ref that won't let the game flow

Now I want to make this very clear, Muswellbrook did not do enough to win the game. Medowie were very deserved of their point and we were lucky to snatch one after being 2-0 down at half time. With how bad we performed we can probably count it as a point gained rather than two lost.

However, I do field the need to ask some questions of the ref, not in regard to the result, just because I have never seen some the calls he threw out on my life. And this is both ways! At the end of the game he pulled up 56 fouls (he was so bad that yes someone was counting) by my probably awful Maths, that is a foul less than every 2 minutes, and most of these were for the softest of offenses that would only be picked up in junior game. I said to him after the game he has to let the game flow, as it he made it all about him, and he replied with "I did let it flow, what are you talking about" and if that is that case, I would hate to be playing in a game when he doesn't let it flow. Both teams were disadvantage by it, as it was looking a good solid battle with both teams putting in tough challenges but when he calls the first foul within 40 seconds of kick off you know it is going to ruin the game. We even had one player pulled up for using his body shielding the ball whilst he was 100% in possession, even Medowie players couldn't believe it.

Like I said Mussy didn't do enough to win the game and Medowie were disadvantaged by the ref being so trigger happy as well, not at all blaming him for the result. But he took the enjoyment out of playing football yesterday and shone the spot light himself, not the game of football. It's just a shame that so often we come off the pitch talking about the poor level of officials and not the football.

In any case, with how poorly we played yesterday is a day that Mussy will just want to grab the point, put that game behind us and look forward to next week! Hopefully we put Medowie to sword up home.

Apologies or any grammatical and spelling mistakes in there, soooo hungover!

Pretty sure it's technically a foul
In juniors we had a keeper that was penalised constantly for it.
You don't see it much in seniors.
More common sense needs to be taken with keepers
We have been penalised for for keepers saying mine with no opposition players close n back passes that were missed kicked clearances off the shin one of which lead to a goal.

Not a foul unless ref interpreted this act as the keeper 'releasing the ball into the field of play and then handling the ball before another player touches it'. And by the way you described this ref that's prob what he's done which is stupid IMO.

from memory i did a bit of research into fouls per game a couple of years ago, and on average i think it was 14-18 fouls per team per match (so 28-36 fouls per match on average)*. a rough count of 56 fouls is well over this average, particularly for a game that sounds like it wasn't very malicious.

you hit the nail on the head mate - when we actually do get refs in these leagues, more often than not the ref is the centre of attention in the game. refs can point the fingers for players not knowing the rules, shitty play, etc etc - but from where i'm sitting all i can see is a bunch of players asking questions of the refs (and usually getting ignored), asking clarification on rules (and some of the clarifications given are quite frankly ridiculous, and wrong upon inspection of a rulebook, plus no other refs seem to back up these ridiculous clarifications at times, see some of the clarifications old bobby has given me as a specific example), going to training to improve their shitty play, and in general doing as best they can when needed to fill in as a club ref. yet i don't see refs getting better - if anything i see them getting worse in newcastle. maybe some refs give up because of the criticism they cop, like we are giving them now, but i'm not going to pat someone on the back when they quite clearly do poorly and refuse to recognise it - because practice makes permanent (not perfect) and if they continually perform poorly they'll stay in that trend forever.

the best refs are the ones you don't notice. when refs have actually shown up this year, i've noticed them a heap.

    * iirc these were statistics from euro-leagues, but still a bit of a guide in general seeing as though it's "the world game"
