it's actually a really decent game in the hockey - well decent in the sense that it could go either way

me, I'm not into sporting drama, as with all sports, I'd rather the team I support go 1,000-0 up after a minute then spend the rest of the game preventing the other team from getting the ball

As usual I see hockey every 4 years like most others but when did the wearing of cricket gloves to defend penalty corners start?

Bit of afters in the Hockey. Pommies would love to see Aussies and Argies belting the tripe out of each other.

just a verbal tirade at the match referee.
    Controversial finish to the game

the game is so heavily weighted to the striker now it's ridiculous.

any bloke worth his salt can nail a drag flick at high speed these days. as a keeper it's just guess and hope.

I really have no idea what any of that means.

But outfield players went behind the goals and put on cricket gloves to defend the penalty corners. Never seen it before. Then after the corner took them off. A bit soft innit?
Baden Choppy would be rolling in his grave.

lol baeden choppy ffs, he was a striker!

what i mean is, the rules, and the equipment are so far in advantage of the striker, it's ridiculous. with composite sticks, if your technique is good enough you can flick a ball at head level harder than you can hit it. i would want more than a mask tbh.

nothing has changed for the defender in the same period, really. (skip might be able answer this? has it?)

having been on the end of a certain foz member's mentally deranged brother's strikes and flicks as a goalkeeper (and this was 3 years ago) you have to have some nads to get in front of the ball these days sans cricket glove/face mask

    OK im with you now.

and c'mon, i was under severe pressure. Old school mens Hockey players arent exactly rolling off ones tongue you know.
Baden Choppy deserves at least a 4/10.

    agreed

never really understood the "i don't want to see a team annihilate another, i like close games". only people on the receiving end of those annihilations say shit like that.
