Jim, you can't blame the players we have re-signed in the last week or so for the whole season, can you?

Would you say they are better than the options we were putting up before?

I think they saved us from a far worse result - as Gary has mentioned. Let's give them an off season and see what Stubbins delivers.

Defintiley not blaming for the whole season but referring to that there are no decent new editions as yet so the administration doesnt deserve a good wrap yet.

Not judging stubbies until we see some results.

Does that mean if we don't see results you won't judge him?

At this stage Griffiths and Carney have replaced Brown and Gibbs/Bridges. I reckon that's an upgrade on those players contributions last season. There is a chance, however, Griffiths may end up being the Heskey replacement which I accept.

Despite this, however, Carney was one of our top assist providers. And even though he only played 8 games, Griffiths was our second top scorer. We have re-signed some valuable contributions to the team and released those that didn't.

I can see your point and how it looks on the surface. Dig a little deeper, however, and it's not for lack of trying from these two players.

If we recruit players who can either take advantage of the opportunities Carney creates or give Griffiths a chance to score more then we've improved. I think, and it's only my opinion, we've retained the quality and removed the dross. If you were questioning the retention of Brown, Ward, Gibbs etc then yes I'd agree.

If we don't keep Taggart for next season I would say make Griff our Taggart replacement and sign someone else too be our Heskey replacement.

Only because I signed him in FIFA last night... but Marko Futacs is a perfect Heskey replacement.

Would be a good replacement for Heskey or Tagz at the right price. Surely Phoenix and Sydney would be favourites to sign him.

Player with a point to prove...lack of pace is the only problem I see. If we don't retain Taggart we will be quite a slow team. If we do retain Taggart, I see Smeltz really only sitting on the bench.

Either way, it's a visa spot...we've got a few so maybe we could use one on them. Jets always seem to have a visa spot for the bench

    Tyson released by WSW.
If birraz goes OS after the WC it looks like a HSG signing to me.

I reckon he was there to watch his beloved Hull in the F.A Cup final. Bit of a Holiday back home before he comes back to work.
