Oh mate, my sister is getting married the day before the GF, so if we make it, I think no matter what day it is on, I lose..

Be surprised if this goes ahead tonight at Nesbitt Park as all Newcastle Council Grounds are Closed

Suns came out strong and created loads of chances to no avail. Kotara opened the scoring in the 40th minute counter attack well against the run of play. 1-0 HT.
Second half a bit of a blur for me, but Suns scored their third goal with 10 to go and then scored a long ball counter attack goal with Kotara pushing high with 5 to go.
Suns finish up 4-1 charging into the semis!

    Feel sorry for Kotara
I think that's 2 years in a row we have knocked them out of finals on the last day
Our boys... Geez not sure where that performance came from haven't seen grit like that for a while from firsts even after going down 1-0 at the break after having most of the opportunities

Yeah dissapointing to finish that way - would have liked to get our best side out there obvliously but we wanted to get the game played so a few guys couldnt play on the night for work reasons or injuries but the suns deserved the win 100%, showed great desire and good luck to them.
a big well done to the commitee of kotara to get that ground somewhat playable - great job.

Overall we would have liked to get all grades into the semi but it wasnt meant to be.....

still have two great chances to get what we want out of this season

Excited for the final series now with the Suns the only club to have all three grades in the finals. However, I'm a little concerned with the weather predicted for the remainder of the week. Hoping that the comp doesn't get pushed back a week. We also have the issue now that Suns are hosting the 1 v 4 games this Saturday with Olympic also scheduled to host 1 v 4 in League 2.. Surely league 1 has preference.. :P

After rain all week I can only imagine what that cricket pitch will look like after 5 games. Olympic to darling street maybe? Hamilton make NPL semis?

A big tip of the cap to Kotara who actively got the game played last night. Couldn't help but feel sorry for them packing up the ground in the rain with that result.

    For finals fixtures, 2:15 needs to be allowed between matches. Meaning;
    ZL2 res- 9:45-12:00
    ZL1 3rd- 12:00-2:15
    ZL1 Res- 2:15-4:30
    ZL2 1st- 4:30-6:45
    ZL1 1st- 6:45-8:00

That's one long ass day for committee's and yes, the pitch will be an issue.

I think both Olympic and Suns might need to source the option of using Darling Street and Magic Park. I'm not sure about the availability of D St, but I know that Magic Park is hosting the NPL youth finals on the Sunday for 4 grades..

Surely that is just for finals where a result is needed, the 1st leg of a home and away semi should be fine

Yep - my bad. That completely went over my head - I was looking at GF timings. But still, I don't know whether it would work having that many games with the weather expected.

Yeah definitely agree on the weather part, thought I would just throw the idea out there.

so it appears Zone League 2 rates higher than Zone League 1, with the Suns v Bero game having to be moved to Bero's ground as opposed to Hamilton having to find somewhere else to play.

It's such a rubbish decision from the federation. Not much can be done about it now though.
