I just get a gut-feeling with Miller that he wouldn't have signed Leonardo if he was a dud and unfit etc. like a few on here are indicating.

You are probably referring to me as one of the few here and all I am saying is it is a concern and previous Jets experience backs that up.

HOWEVER, this gives me considerable hope:

Leonardo is not due to land in Australia until mid-September but Miller had no concerns over his fitness, having told him he must be ready to play upon arrival.

"He'll have to be. I'm demanding that from him," he said.

"I speak to him every week and he's actually been undertaking a program for three to four weeks now that we've put in place for him.

If this is indeed the case and he is up to speed on fitness then I will endeavour to restrain my excitement because getting your hopes up and being a Jets supporter rarely go well together.

If we were ambitious enough to use all salary cap/squad size loopholes I'd be confident we could consider Smith to be a Mature Age Rookie and have his salary outside of the cap, plus he not take up a squad spot on the 23man roster.

Why do the club hate the fans so much ? Alex Smith has been tested at this level and he failed. The club shouldn't even waste time returning his calls let alone actually offering him a trial.
