yeh I sent him my phone number about 10 this morning as he asked for it, oh sorry his wife asked for it and no one has rang as of yet.
what decisions, that he couldn't coach southy or the decisions made during the year...i'm a lifer up there and get told a lot of things, most true, some maybe not so true, by more than one person.
If I have upset him by saying he F*^ked us over, well its about the year, not if he coaches Olympic 22's, I don't really care where he coaches, as I said I don't rate him anyway, he has my number, call me.

yes I am currently coaching my daughters side and have for the last 5-6 years, GF tomorrow actually, doesn't matter who you coach, but how you coach.....
200 + games for southy, plus 14 years committee, + life member, then left and did it all again at the Tigers, life member there also.....next

My beer slurping mates who never got passed 2nd division, sorry reserve grade 2nd division think again most of my colleagues never played 2HD, mainly NBN.

as for Southy and there slide, yes haven't been travelling real well for a couple of years, and yes it wasn't totally the coaches fault why they dropped, players , committee all have to take some blame for the predicament they are in and yes they don't have the coin to splash like the rest, but money doesn't buy professionalism, same as it doesn't buy you class....Southy never has had the money, its always been about the club and playing for the club, probably doesn't work real well now days, with all the MONEY we haven't got...

Players play for southy, they play for the shirt, they give their all. Well, that's at least what i had drilled into me while i was there. They give people a chance, they give them an opportunity and all they ask is that you give your all, and play with your heart on your sleeve.
From my perspective, this was lacking by several players at some stage this season. I watched a game where it seemed J Johnson had some money on him being sent off. Late tackles, studs up, holding people, shoulder charging, tripping, he was hell bent on getting sent off. And other games he looked like he'd rather be elsewhere. He has been captain over previous years and should have stepped up more. D Johnson on the other hand gave his all in every game. he is well spent by the end of the game. he gives his all and lead by example. So, i don't doubt the majority of people were giving their all, but there were some that did not. Both on the field and off.

Edgeworth deserved the win today. Olympic had their moments but overall were outclassed by a better opponent.
Olympic never really got going and turned the ball over far too easily.
Edgeworth were very solid at the back today and their passing game was exceptional considering the conditions.

He did award some very soft free kicks but he didn't effect the result. Edgey were clearly the better team & deserved to win.

Watching it live, the pen was very soft but there was a bit of contact, he made the most of it and played for the pen, but to me, at the time, looked like the Olympic player did get drawn in to make the contact.
While I don't think the referee affected the result, it seemed a match littered with free kicks. It was such a disjointed and boring game because of this. Not just the referee, I mean he has to call the fouls, but both teams seemed to be doing their fair share of fouling. Ref did try and play advantages but all in all, it was a very scrappy affair, both teams struggled to get any real momentum. Imo edgy's speed up front is a huge weapon, the ability to play through the midfield or knock it long in behind is a huge benefit.

I enjoyed the game yesterday.

Thought Olympic had the better of the opening 20mins but thwn it was all Edgy.

Standout player for me was Luke Walker, followed by Evans, Wheeler & Tannock.

I thought Campbell and Hodges kept Olympic in the game for long stretches of the game.

Good on Brody Taylor for having a hand in both goals. What a super year for a great kid.

I caught the 2nd half of reserve grade and was pretty impressed with the speed & ability in it. Thought Edgys entire backline were fantastic, and overall was just impressed with both sides.

Congrats to Magic on being great hosts yet again, they never disappoint.

It was great too see the Hamilton supporters and Committee stick around for their Runners-up medal presentation, they all started walking out when edgeworth scored their second... Best team all season deserved win. Edgy were outstanding all yr and I thought were all over olympic on sunday. Thought it was a stop start game tho. Nashy shouldn't have had the middle. Hope warren mills enjoys it aswell, all the hard work that bloke does he deserves it as much as anybody. Thats why clubs like magic and olympic have been sucessful in there glory years. even when magic blitz the comp by 12 or so points a couple of years ago they still signed a couple more for the next season..

The hearld's article was confusing it said that Clarke played the game and it was proven so the All-age team was disqualified. It then goes on to say that he is under investigation. A player of his experience should've known better even though it happens all the time in the interdistrict comps.

They tried that a few years back, apparently it was too difficult to ensure all teams took their photo ID cards. Though it could be easily fixed, if you don't have a card for a player he can't play.

apparently there was a disagreement during the year where Bren was involved. Rumour has it he actually quit, but everything was amended behind closed doors. If you consider this as a second job for someone working 9-5 as a bit of extra money then the short and large of it is they can play for one club and get $$ x.

When rival club comes and matches $$ x and offers $200 extra per game then loyalty and their mates is the only thing keeping them at their original club.


When you throw into the equation player has a GF Wife kids, Looking to buy house etc then easiest decision for them is to move to rival club and take the coin.

Imo winning everything would make you more likely to leave if you've got an option. You've accomplished all you can there. You are in the spotlight, having been the benchmark in the competition. Rival clubs would rather play with you than against you, so are willing to stump up some extra cash. Some players like new challenges. Some may have a falling out. Just playing devils advocate here. There's other things in play, and I don't think solely winning everything is much of a reason.

I know they are on less. I still find it funny people think Magic pay so much for their players. Believe it or not, you only need to speak to players that have been there for years to know that it's much more than the money paid as to why they stay at or go to the club.

I'm fairly certain the f, is the same f shared by some people quite heavily involved with Magic so I don't doubt you know quite a lot. However, with such allegiances to particular clubs it is possible to filter the truth and paint your club in a different light. So distinguishing between bs and fact is quite difficult when people have allegiances.
I agree, I don't think magic are offering the coin that some other clubs offer their players or players they are luring. But I don't think the coin is as little as you make out. It's obviously a competitive payment otherwise you wouldn't be retaining players or lure them away from high paying clubs.
But, it's all heresay and peoples opinions.
