Apart from last year, they have spent the previous five years playing in a higher division. I don't know why you get so defensive on here when people talk about Cardiff signings, no one has criticised the club for doing it.

Draws are out, surprise, surprise Wallsend pulled out on CL1 could have bet your house on it a month ago.
Oh, whilst we are chatting about CL, make sure these AA sides that are making up the numbers, do the right thing in regard to alcohol.
We had a slight issue with Kahibah and bringing beers, in glasses and after being informed we have a Liquor License and needed to put the beers away, proceeded just to move to the other side of the field to continue drinking their beers.
One of the Kahibah parents asked them to do the right thing, and i have heard he was told to go away.
So be aware, ZL1 clubs have always had a certain amount of respect to the other clubs with alcohol and what you can do and what you can't, including the club that has just left us to join NPL2, so be aware AA teams on different levels.

Ok, first up, they weren't Kahibah players, they were a few mates of players. They sat at the Myall Road end of the ground.
I was the one that asked them to stop drinking because Cardiff had a liquor licence and they complied immediately. They had brought a 6 pack and that is what they drank.

So after a game do clubs have their own eskies in the change rooms with drinks?

Well mate, that's not how it happened, they stood behind the dugouts with grog and when I told them to down the last mouthful and put there beers away, all they did was move to the other side of the ground near the gate and keep drinking, if you're the fella who was in the dugout who I spoke to when i noticed they had not complied, well very selective memory.
So, complying immediately i don't think so and it was a 6 pack and 3 largies in glass bottles.
Being mates does that make it ok? as they weren't players or should clubs just look the other way?

There will always be that one who slys it in and officials don't see, similar to slipping a flask into a concert and drinking it inconspicuously, there are some things you just can't police.
Bringing eskies in, well not sure when you have seen this, maybe during an AA game(where no license is present) but all at Cardiff ZL know not to take grog to any game if they have a license, if they don't have one you can take drinks, but they must be cans only, not many clubs out there that do not have a license now days so that sort of fixes itself.
If any of my blokes have taken grog to a Mayfield game, I'm quite sure Richo would have hunted me down and pointed that out and if it was to happen say this year, please point it out to our duty officer.
And no, clubs don't take drinks into the sheds after games now days or we don't, haven't for years.

well hunter, as i said if they complied when they left the dugout area, after i spoke to them, they would not have needed to be spoken to again near the gate, so i call that that not complying with the original request to put there drinks away, which is an offence under the liquor act, so what would you call that?

Instead of arguing about the exact time line of events you should be thanking Hunter for trying to assist you & your club.
Nobody was obliged to do anything. But someone from outside your club saw that rules were being broken & did the right thing by intervening. Yet now all you can do is whinge about who said what & when.
Just be thankful people tried to do the right thing by your club. You said it yourself this will happen again, you might not get any outsiders attempting to intervene again if this is the type of gratitude they?re going to get.

If Hunter is the parent/person who went and asked them for the 2nd time within an hour to stop drinking great stuff on him, as the fella who was coaching or managing the side rang and asked someone on that side of the field to do it, as i was just about to walk around and he didn't want the boys to get removed from the ground.
The issue is not who did it, the issue is that someone had to do something that was done previously and then basically calling me a liar, on my version on how it happened to protect someone or their club.
As said comply the 1st time when asked, this convo doesn't happen.

Nobody is arguing that they were wrong to ignore the original request. But they did, so other people took it upon themselves to intervene even though they had no legal obligation to. Your whole rant is aimed more at the people that tried to help than those who actually broke the rules.
And yes I understand exactly how a liquor licence works. I was the licensee for a Rugby club. If there were random people helping enforce the rules when I was in the position I would have been thanking them, not rushing to a public forum to rant about them.
Also you can get a group of fellas together & do whatever you like wherever you like. You do whatever makes you happy. But If you do it at a Kahibah game I can guarantee I won?t be requesting you do anything as I won?t be there so I won?t fail a thing.

This could be a reflection of the increasing talent coming into the ZL2 competition. Speaking to a number of people in a few teams, there has been quite a number of 18 - 20 year olds from the NPL clubs filtering in for various reasons. That quality divide may become slammer between the competitions if this continues to happen.

It's gonna be a hot day. Hopefully not too hot to postpone the games.

Any club with half a brain would be trying to move times early or late in the day. If you have tried and been knocked back then the pricks are at fixtures central.

It was pretty close to full strength. We weren?t great today but that was a credit to how Barnsley played. Their keeper too not only had a good game but seems like a great character. Best of luck to them in the cup and the regular season.

You get some flexibility with trials, but in a competition match the rules of that competition have to be applied.

I'd like to see Zone League bring in a promotion/relegation playoff in same way NL1 and NPL have done it. Thoughts? I feel as though those games give players and clubs great moments to hold onto.
I think 2nd last from league above should be versing winner of Grand Final from league below (if not the minor premier), if the grand final winner is the minor premier (already promoted) it should be against the grand final loser.

As suggested it can't really happen and wrecks final series in zone league. The Northern League One final series created plenty of interest last year which is probably what you are referring too.
But what did it achieve, Adamstown stayed up and were made to feel like champions. When essentially they finished 11th in the NPL.

I?d be for a 2 up/2 down between the ZLs.
First & Second get promoted or First & GF Winner (runner-up if same team)
Either way, keeps the Finals Series intact in ZL.
It would certainly freshen the leagues up each year.

Well in to all involved tonight. Croatia the better team but goodness me they nearly threw it all away.
Croatia #6 was great 1st half, no idea why he went off early. #2 held it together for them late.
I'll be changing my schedule all year to catch as many games as I can of that Croatia goalie, what a huge bag of nonsense he served up all night. Fantastic viewing. Well in to him.
Also, I thought that ball was well over the line for the suns equaliser.
Croatia 2nd goal was a belter.
What a great night of football.
Now....the downside. Everyone involved in football in Newcastle should be ashamed that the venue we were at tonight belongs to a piss ant sport like rugby, and sits next door to the biggest white elephant in the city (#1).

Cardiff 1 - 4 Croatia (Croatia will be the team to beat this year, they were solid last week, can't see many teams beating them this year)
Olympic 2 - 1 Warners Bay (Surprised by Olympic's round 1 result, they will bounce back this week, WB had a poor pre season)
Swansea 5 - 0 Azzuri (Hearing Swansea signed well + long year for Azzuri)

Agree with all the previous comments, wait to the end of the season for that type of call. Only puts pressure on Croatia, No point even bringing Dudley into the discussion.
My information was that Dudley didn't even want to go to NL1, Tried hard to get out of going up. I'm happy to be corrected if this isn't true.
Croatia have played 1 game in the top Zone League. It was certainly an impressive performance against the Suns. But Croatia, Like Suns will be teams that others will want that feather in the cap of theirs.
Cardiff will certainly give Croatia a good run, whether that can result in taking some points only time will tell.
You would think mayfield will give Suns a good run for their money also this week.

What a terrible attitude to approach the competition with. By your logic Australia may as well not even bother trying to qualify for the World Cup because we have zero chance of actually winning the thing.
Try and go as far in the competition as you can and give your players the opportunity to test themselves against NPL opposition.

Looks like those NewFM teams maybe rested some players, thinking it would be an easy game. Considering Lakes and Cessnock both played on the weekend with only 2-3 days rest and none of those ZPL teams did. Having said that, there is a lot of quality in the ZPL this year and it seems those NewFM teams will be in the lower half of the table in their own comp

I'd get rid of the name of it. Label it NPL 2 and then let the pyramid go to work over the next few years. Both npl division have 10 teams. There's probably only the resources and talent to facilitate 20 clubs in the region to have npl status.
Kids, parents and clubs still get npl 'status' for marketing, promoting, development and egos.
Anyway smarter people than us are at work on all this.

Not really if you consider no one from zl1 will be getting a jdl licence to fleece parents of thousands a year to fund mediocre first graders longer term and no zone league club will be eligible for npl you?re just making up numbers in npl2

Did not know they all had rested players. But still valid though as the gap in quality is as small as ever. Half of ZL1 could easily compete in NewFM.
The real test will come when a NewFM team with JDL & Youth teams (charging thousands as said above) is relegated to ZL1.
Entire JDL & Youth teams leave the club, first graders not getting paid as much or at all, can't charge gate and rego fees would be less too.

Weak as piss from both teams. Cardiff also made wholesale changes but left a few of their good ones in there. Both teams should have just tossed a coin before kick off and whoever won the toss could have had their wish of exiting the cup that they both had no interest in playing in.
