It?s refreshing to see the sheep on this forum finally reach the conclusion I drew a year ago that the New Fm league is a joke compared to Zone league 1 and Dudley ran to it to escape Croatia. Worst kept secret in zone league is suns deliberately throwing minor premiership but even better was Dudley celebrated like they won it legitimately. Well a mid-tier zone league 1 team just made a mockery out of Dudley

Ha you flog. I?m sure Dudley really pissed their pants in fear of Croatia. The same Croatia that Dudley beat every preseason. Dudley embraced what they have no control of and that?s if you finish first you have to go up. Going by results the last 5-10 years for them if they didn?t go up this year it wouldn?t be far off as they always finish high. I think they just got the jump on the inevitable because eventually Croatia, Suns, Kotara, Uni and possibly others will get promoted and Dudley will be established in that comp and NL1 will be a blend of half the current teams and half the ZL1 teams.

No idea why some of you are so bent out of shape that some teams aren?t taking the FFA cup seriously. Do you really think any team from ZL1 or NL1 are going to beat the top NPL teams? Or go on to beat an A League team? Be realistic, it?s nice to progress a few rounds but if your team is so invested on playing their best teams each round till they get beat then good luck with that. I?m sure teams like Dudley are more interested in establishing themselves in NL1. But great to see how Dudley lives rent free still in some of your heads.

You're surely having a laugh with your analogy. Comparing qualifying for the biggest tournament in the world held every 4 years to an annual cup tournament is bizarre.

And defeatist attitude in a cup tournament by some NL1 sides - how would you know what they were thinking? To apply a more realistic analogy, it happens the world over in cup competitions every year. Clubs for different reasons prioritise matches/competitions for a number of reasons, an outcome of which may be resting 1st team players. One of the positives is giving a number of younger players an opportunity and experience they normally wouldn't get. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - they call those one's cupsets. You still go into those matches wanting to win though. Liverpool a case in point a couple of times this year. Not a defeatist attitude, but simply prioritising their season for them and their goals.

ok so how about we say, in part you are all correct in some way, but clubs do things that suit them, decisions made by coaches and their inner sanctum are not made public for various reasons.
Sometime the players don't know exactly what these decisions are.

In the end, these are made for the betterment of their club to either go further in their main comp, manage their way through a few injury problems by playing lower grade players (this happens during the comp also), playing lower grade players against a lesser side (this also happens during the season)or maybe they just place one comp higher on a priority list.

We can jump up and down all you like, but in the end, what's done is done, and unless they change the structure of the early rounds, this will continue to happen.

It was an entertaining game indeed. Stockton lead the first half 1-0 and missed a couple of open goals too.
Croatia came back fired up in the 2nd half and forced them back, and pressured them. Congrats to Croatia for winning 3-1. Also credit to Stocko for trying to play good football.

Stockton were very impressive today. They will actually be quite annoyed that they failed to put the game beyond Croatia in the first half. Too much class from the Croats in the end though.

I really think it's in the best interests of the competition if Bar TV only showed the major matches in ZL1. That being the matches involving teams 1 to 8. If you were going to show a ZL2 match maybe show Croudace Bay vs Southern United or Norths United.

If they weren?t penalties I?m not sure what is. If Croatia were honest they would say they got away with one. I think Croatia with that team should win the comp. The only thing that will stop them is the fact they can?t keep a clean sheet. It would be interesting how many they have kept in their 3 years back. Very competitive game. Not as physical as I expected. Skilled, fast, and end to end.
Cardiff missed some gilt-edged chances in the first half and almost pinched a draw with a late shot against the base of the post, but the score is a fair reflection of the game

The Kotara v Olympic game was a belter. Both scored in the first half, and Olympic got the winner with about 10-15 left. Kotara nearly levelled deep in stoppage time.
Really fast game. Olympic brought on the big names in the second half but it wa still very even.
Kotara goal was an opportunity created by a defensive error but very quickly seized upon.
Both Olympic goals were shots from outside the box that took deflections.
No rubbish tackles or tactics, just really good fast football.

What happened to the world? I grew up in the era where if you lost a game you would never be ‘proud’ . one thing I have learned watching ffa cup is northern npl is a complete joke, how these beep-test amateurs get paid is beyond me.

Well considering Suns were missing their best attacker, best midfielder and best defender yeah they were definitely full of luck.

Despite this they battered Mayfield especially in the 2nd half. The green tigers did well to hold them out for as long as they did but you must have been watching a different match if you consider that to be a lucky result for Suns.
