Question for the podcast?
Can your podcast be about the top 3 divisions of football in the region?

It will certain attract more viewers if it contained talk from NPL, NL1 and ZL1.

If it is just a Zone League show can we just have discussion about ZL1? It's a little hard to have discussion about bottom 2 divisions when not much is known about them.

Obviously an initiative by Newcastle Football to promote the zone. Northern could do the same for the top 2 comps if they wanted to.

Not much is known about the other zone comps because the podcast would rather spread rumours and gossip from the forum instead of doing basic research on clubs and games.

I have listened to a few episodes for the record Richo. Maybe my point wasn't well presented. What I'm trying to say they should stick to higher leagues and if Newcastle Football are behind it why not mainly stick to ZL1. I apologise, forget about NPL or NL1.

My point is simple, CT and Wilso only really know teams and players from ZL1 and above. Why get them to talk about ZL2 or ZL3 when it's quite clear on the podcast they or the other bloke don't have much input into these divisions?
Maybe Richo if you listened to the ZL2 or ZL3 talk you would have noticed this?, No offence but silly comment.

It would be like getting a national political commentator talk about local government elections.

Go have a look at the New Fm and Northern npl threads … check views and posts… there is barely any interest in either league… one of the npl teams just lost to crabs lol.

The worst Sydney teams would absolutely annihilate the Newcastle npl amateurs. If anything I would like the zone leagues to break away from northern nsw comps.

I rate it highly, let club volunteers, referees and players all spend the time with their families

Yep, all very well for people who don't play, don't coach and don't volunteer to demand games be played on Easter, but those actually involved are glad there is a week off.

That would make for quite an interesting watch, at least Cardiff aren’t one-dimensional like every northern npl team, I could see them scoring a few even if it meant conceding a dozen. Maybe they could organise a trial next year, I would certainly watch

At what point do azzurri just start forfeiting matches? I can’t imagine losing by a double digit margin once let alone twice in the first few rounds.

What’s the score line going to be when they play suns or Croatia?

We will find out next week when they play Croatia … if the fast blonde kid for Croatia plays we may see 15-0. Azzurri over past decade have wasted talent they could have Messi in their team and they’d have him come off the bench in 3rds. Completely self inflicted

Back again for another year of football in Newcastle's most entertaining competition.

1. Suns
2. Croatia
3. Cardiff
4. Uni
5. Olympic
6. Warners Bay
7. Kotara
8. Mayfield
9. Swansea
10. Westlakes
11. Azzurri
12. Stockton

Quick rundown:

Stocko are in big trouble this year, I'd be surprised if they win a game.

Cardiff will surprise everyone.

Teams in positions 6-10 basically nobody cares about, just there to fill numbers.

Olympic got lucky last year and will regress to their level (5th).

Suns way too strong, basically their team is the NSWIS team from years ago...

Azzurri may still go down even if they don't finish last. Zombie club.

Croatia with deep pockets and lots of quality. If they can stay out of trouble, it will help them big time and they will be challenging for the title + grand final. Don't be surprised to see them get promoted even if they come second because Suns won't want to go up. What a success story that would be from the bottom tier to NewFM.

The paper bags a bit light this week for a few bloke ha

There will be a day where some blokes think they are worth more then they sign another guy and pay him more than the first guy and he has the shits and the results dry up.

Their model of paying a top 15 or so and not paying attention to the rest of the club I think has a short window and gets you so far and it?s worked well so far but as you go up that model can make it hard especially for a relatively new club really. Their 2 lower grades are average and the conference team forfeited last week. I wouldn?t be surprised if some lower grade guys get the shits they have to pay rego and some are on big money.

Each club to their own it?s worked so far for them. Let?s see if the wheels stay on the bus

Extremely poor, only 2 good zl1 games listed. Is the new boss of Newcastle football selecting these games? They should be promoting the best football, it appears they are trying to run Zone league football into the ground with so many zl2 and zl3 games.

15% zone league 3

One thing for sure is Croatia vs suns 2 must be streamed! suns players are still pissed about getting humbled in round 1. Can?t wait to watch that grudge match. I also think a no brainer would be to have one zone league game on a Friday per week for league 1. And it should be played at no.2 sports ground. Newcastle football hate innovation though

Tv allocation should be:
60% zone league 1
25% zone league 2
15% zone league 3

Why does a two bit rugby club get precedent over a national woman?s football team, there?s something very wrong there.

That is Newcastle Council for you. The jets got kicked off mid march from training and had to find a new training venue. Games had to cease once the Wildfires started their season.

The Federation made it pretty clear in pre-season that clubs could elect to play Friday nights and on Sundays - mainly for the purpose of higher chance of getting Refs. But as you can see by the draw, Saturday is by far the preferred option for clubs.

I am all for every game being streamed, a fair number of clubs already have the VEO cameras already, surely something could be done there.

All games are on Saturday except for Kotara which is on Sunday. With the amount of rain we had, and the quality of most pitches, it will be nearly miraculous if we play on Saturday. I hope I am wrong, otherwise, it will be yet another mid week season.

Rugby are the primary lease holder. The other sports sub lease it from them so they allocate it around the rugby season.

They fronted money and lobbied council to get it built.

Soccer did nothing so can't bitch about being a 2nd class citizen at that facility.

Soccer knows what they need to do, up to them/us to make it happen.

The split needs to be heavily in favour of ZL1, I agree.

Although to grow ZL as a whole, high stakes games and derbies in ZL2 and ZL3 should still have some exposure too. But if there's no such fixture in the lower divisions, ZL1 should always be priority and would be another incentive for ZL2 and ZL3 clubs to push up the leagues.

Explain in more detail, you come off sounding like a micro-thinker. What money did union contribute? What do they pay as a lease? Newcastle council is all who you know and who you go to bed that?s a fact. The upgrade was a local council voting bargaining chip & an easy way to line a contractor that also had ties to the council and club pockets.

Also Merewether retreated have been around for 125 years and can?t even get a field in Merewether lol wanna know why ?.hint a player did something that pissed off someone high up in council but I?m not going to tell that story as it was probably before you were born. Merewether still have managed to get featured on bar tv twice for this season, they will probably make a trophy about it.

Maybe some people in this thread could volunteer their time every weekend to BarTV. That way those asking for it can deliver 1 ZL1 game each weekend to the viewers.

Maybe offer some solutions with your feedback.
Newcastle is a small place. The Newcastle football scene is even smaller. Reach out to those involved with BarTV and offer your services.

So you just explained exactly how it works and hence my point that if soccer wants the same they have the blueprint.

What else do you want out of me?

Sign up your heavy hitters (there are just as many in football as there is in rugby), find your angle and apply your pressure.

You think I'm out here saying anyone does this shit above board?

No 2 was always a rugby ground. It was the NHRU, HJRU & Wanderers that lobbied the council for years to upgrade it. The NHRU & Wanderers also contributed financially, not sure about the HJRU.

NHRU were the drivers behind the development of Number 2, securing the grants and private funding to make it happen. They would have made sure to get a decent lease as part of that process.

If last season taught us anything it?s that if you have a chance to get on the field you take it. Surely the Suns squad is deep enough to handle a midweek game after playing Sunday. Especially this early in the season. Some clubs have players not even kitting up on game day at the moment.
