Today is a public holiday in Canberra. The first Reconciliation Day.
You guys should reconcile, too.
This Trump/Kim Jong stuff is interesting.
If compared to previous Presidents, Trumps accomplishment (however 'staged' it is) should be applauded by the rest of the world.
but.
they just cant do it.
and this is how the bloke is gonna get re-elected in 2020.
i dont even know if that 'needs' to be the case.
the negotiations are pretty clear, and both sides have their chips to deal with.
Kim does have quite a few nukes ready to drop, so he does have a bit more leverage than most people give him credit for.
Trump has repeatedly said, if you give them up, we'll bring money in. Not 'aid' like the Iran deal, but investment by outside interests mostly from China, Japan and Sth Korea. It would look pretty enticing for Kim Jong to be known as the bloke that brought a whole country out of poverty. its a bit better legacy than being the bloke that got them all fried from a war.
Maybe Kim does have good intentions at heart, and maybe this can work. and in true Trump form hes doing it all with other peoples money, but will get the credit. And thats fine, because if it does in fact prevent a war, and makes the lives of Koreans better, then how the hell can anyone have a problem with that?
but yeah, people will.
Honest question:
Is there anyone on this foz that is legit gonna vote for Bill Shorten?
Not talking the Labor party, its policies, or even an 'anti Liberal' vote.
But is anyone basing their vote in next years general election on their wish to see Bill Shorten as our Prime Minister?
Because i clearly cant for the life of me think of a more dishonest, untrustworthy politician in my life than this guy.
everything he says, touches and looks at just reeks of grubbiness.
ive happily voted Labor and Liberal in the past.
Theres certainly been plenty of 'unlikeable' politicians out there. People HATED Rudd, Gillard, Howard, Keating and Abbott.
But personally i think they at least gave off a sense of believability. It was fine to hate on them because you saw who they were and there was a sense of dignity in at least being open about yourself.
but Shorten, oh man. just a despicable human being.
Or am i missing something?
Bill Shorten is right wing conservative scum much the same as Malcolm Turnbull. Why vote for a replica when you can vote for the genuine item ?
As for voting and elections in Australia - The Coalition / Liberal Party has NEVER LOST an Election. NEVER.
They have though handed over control to their subsidiary [Labour Party] when the economy had or was about to tank.
I take it you haven't met Tony Abbot then ? He's a bit like Anthony Mundine in that the media filter out all the good stuff and twist the shit out of everything else.
I know for a fact Abbot has some very left wing views when it comes to unemployment / welfare but his own party crucified him for it.

Labor/Shorten are lesser of two evils for me.
But I wish they'd scrap the whole thing and go benevolent dictatorship. The adversarial bullshit is so hard for me to stomach. And the bastards ruined the NBN so **** em
Actually just another sub point. If the leaders swapped parties. I'd be so down for hating a Shorten-led Libs and all over the Turnster's Labor.
I can't see the point in elections when we could simply elect public officials based on their social media stats.
And once they get into parliament let's make it a big brother style;e thing whereby every Sunday the public get to phone in and vote out a politician of their choosing.

Republic...
President Mark Latham farken.
All gags aside about the lunatic but Facebook etc are doing the right thing kicking Alex Jones off their platforms.
Hes still got his 1st amendment right to sprout his gospel, but its not up to a private company to be obliged to broadcast it.
having said that............................those cake bakers should also be allowed to choose their customers.
nah.
its actually a private company not liking someone using its 'brand' for their own advancement.
in the same way bad players get cut from football teams, a couple of companies have decided to better represent themselves.
people are out there thinking they have the 'right' to use someone elses dime to have their say.
its not the case.
Govt protects your right to say that stupid shit, but facebook aint the govt.
Facebook doesnt belong to the people, not any more than football teams 'belong' to the fans.
now.
having said that.
id love to see the same rules applied to people advocating for violence against police, politicians and certain religions.
but again, none of those decisions are up to me.
Facebook and co are only using their Terms of Service thing to deal with him based on a complaint from some snowflake out there
Absolutely nailed on that some self righteous leftiest bell end has taken offence to Alex Jones and has taken this approach to bully him as they disagree with his views
No way in Griffs green earth are the cunce at Facebook and You Tube and Apple sitting around going lets just **** this **** over
Some one has sent through a complaint to get them to act
Also it is funny how this has some what backfired on said snowflake
Infowars App is now trending at no 3 On Google Play
So it has actually dropped publicity on Jones door step
oh for sure, but this is how the system works.
just because facebook doesnt want you, it doesnt mean you cant be found.
sadly though, just like Bill O'Reilly, the move away from an established platform may bring an initial flood of followers to your new home but long term its just not the same as being on a major media site. it just isnt.
now, remembering that 10 years ago Facebook wasnt a major media platform, so it remains possible that an alternative will come along and wipe them all out.
but for now. nah, Jones has suffered a big hit. but thats the game they are all playing.
