Club wants young players to play and develop so they can sell them for profit. Bertolisso is decent and showing good promise. Aquliana is ok and was decent last season but he isnt miles ahead of Joel IMO so makes sense to focus on the young player

What has happened to club injury updates etc? Previously you would see regular injury reports on players and time expected to be out.

These days everything seems to be a big secret and that is how gossip starts.

Joel is younger but it’s only a two year age gap, not like ones 18 and the others pushing 30. Plus Aquilina is much more experienced and also got a few goals and assists last year, presumably would have gotten more had he not been deployed at CB throughout.

It is interesting in that article that it doesn't mention that we have any other injuries apart from the 3 guys with torn ACL's and Aquilina. As you said Jeterpool, maybe this is just reading into things, but that leads mr to believe James isn't injured, and if he's not why isn't he even making the bench when he's probably the next best guy GK in the team

What are people seeing or have seen that makes them want Noah as our number 1. He seems like a top lad but been in the Aleague since 2018 and never once shown performances that warrant having that conversation

Aquilina has s better final ball too, in my opinion

There will come a time where it may just be accepted Noah James might not make it at an A-League level. Lots of younger keepers coming through and, as Stanny said he's been around for a while (this is his 8th season listed with the first team under contract, with one spent at WSW) but only made 8 appearances.

Just looking, to put that in perspective there are only 3 players who have been contracted more than 8 A-League seasons (Kanta (15), Hoff (12), Kennedy(11)) and one other with 8 (Jobe).

I felt more confident with him between the sticks last season when Scott was struggling, and I felt when Delianov was struggling that there was a chance to replace him, but that time has passed for now.

The rumours turned out correct, with Zach Clough signing on. Joins for 2.5 seasons.

I think it's future proofing for the departure of Kota at seasons end.

Speaking of - I wonder at what point we start to look at extending contracts...quite a lot of the team off contract at season's end.

Rumours online that Lachie Rose is being courted by WSW. He's represented by Footballhouseplus - the same agent representing Clayton Taylor

Digging slightly under the surface - all of Footballhouseplus represented players at the Jets are off contract this year - Grozos, Taylor, Rose, Bayliss, Gibson, Bertolissio, James and Fryer

And we are reportedly trying to get Alex Rufer.
