    I will settle for 1

I actually couldn't care about beating the Gypos next Saturday either. Not winning is a means to an end of achieving 1

Just had a call from Phil. Tells me we have scored more goals than our opponents over the last 2 weeks except for penalties. Oh, and goals in general play.

Actually if you take out set plays we actually would have lost the game. We should be thankful for getting a point. #Moving forward

After careful analysis* I have concluded that when you remove all right footed goals and adjust results accordingly, the jets are in the top 6, that's big Phil's KPI's sorted time for a contract extension.

*analysis only as reliable as Phil Stubbins tactics.

We weren't in tinklers red and blue so today's result doesn't count.

A loss this weekend will take his loss % back below Theodorakopoulos. Sadly, his win percentage will never ever be that low.

FOR 10 years Jets fans have booed him more passionately than any rival player.

Now Central Coast skipper John Hutchinson has guaranteed himself one more hostile reception by making disparaging remarks about the Jets before the 31st and last F3 derby of his career.

The 35-year-old midfielder has announced his retirement at the end of this season, which means Saturday's showdown at Hunter Stadium will be his farewell appearance against his arch enemies.

He warmed up for the occasion by offering some typical cocky opinions about the Jets, which some fans will regard as inflammatory, while others might begrudgingly agree are hard to deny.

"At the start of the year I remember saying we were the better club, and I know they weren't very happy with that up there," Hutchinson said in an interview with Mariners media staff.

"But I think it just proves what kind of club we are.

"We're a stable club. We've only had [three] head coaches. We've hardly changed personnel around the place and every year we've achieved great things.

"We're one of the smallest clubs and smallest communities and I think we've proven that we can punch above our weight . . . if you look at Newcastle, they're meant to have the big community and the big-club mentality, but I don't remember the last time they made the finals.

"I'm sure the fans up there and the members would be very disappointed with what the club produces year in, year out."

Hutchinson, the only survivor of the first F3 derby in 2005, said it was "sad" to observe Newcastle's decline in recent years to the point where this season they have won only one of 18 games.

"I feel sorry for their fans and their members with what's going on up there. I don't even remember who their captain is at the moment.

"They just turn players over. I know Joel Griffiths - he's a friend, but we're enemies on the field - he's a competitor, but he's not there any more.

"I thought generally players like that, he's what they need.

"He's a competitor, a winner. I was sad to see him go."

One of five players shown the door by Jets owner Nathan Tinkler four weeks ago, Griffiths is expected to sign with Wellington this week.

"He gave his heart and soul to Newcastle Jets and it was sad to see the way he got treated, getting pushed out of the club," Hutchinson said.

"I'm sure all the other boys feel the same. They're trying to move on and I know they're trying to make the finals, but I'm sure their fans and members will be disappointed with another poor season."

In reference to another unwanted Newcastle veteran, David Carney, Hutchinson said whenever issues arose at the Mariners the players preferred to "keep it in-house".

"I don't think there's ever been a player here that's been pushed to the side and not played when he's been up for selection," he said.

"Especially someone of David Carney's calibre."

Jets coach Phil Stubbins has endured a tumultuous first season but Hutchinson said he had been impressed with the Englishman.

"He might be under instruction from the owner, but he's a good coach, from all reports," he said. "The boys really like him up there and I think he's doing a great job.

"It's hard when you're chopping and changing players. He's trying to come in and rebuild and make Newcastle a team that make the finals, but he's got a big job ahead of himself."

Hutchinson said it was "surreal" to think that his career had almost reached full-time after 19 years as a professional.

As for the reception he will receive on Saturday, he was clearly looking forward to it.

"I'll be greeted like I'm always greeted," he said.

"But for me, they do that because what we've achieved in the past . . . this season's obviously been a rebuilding phase for us. I know Newcastle's had a rebuilding phase for the last four years."

While Stubbins objected to Hutchinson showing "disrespect" before the 1-1 draw in Newcastle three months ago, he accepted his latest broadside with a wry smile.

"John has been at it now for quite some time and he's always been someone that has stood up for his own club," Stubbins said.
Allows Hutcho to get away with bad mouthing our club (With a pile of truth bombs none the less) but then gives him a compliment for doing so.

    What a tosser.
