They mustn't have thought much of it similar to what the referee and NNSWF made of this event. Now the alledged victim has gone to the police to press charges and it will be on him to prove that George committed an offence.

With the Ruben incident, if Olympic aren't doing anything about it and they agree with the Referee that there wasn't much too it (as stated in the Herald article), then the only reason the police would get involved is if the victim (as you rightly pointed out, is a police officer) lodges a complaint. I'm sure he's well aware of his rights and what does/doesn't constitute an offence and if he does nothing about it then I'd say it's safe to assume this was just a bit of handbags that doesn't look good but really doesn't need anything more than what's already been done.

Do we know why Ruben reacted like that? Was something said to him to provoke it? Was anyone there who saw it or heard anything?
It doesn't what was said by either Ruben or Scott Smith ( the Olympic player ) .
At the end of the day a First grade coach has over reacted and lashed out ( pushed ) an opposition player. A bad look for our game , A bad look for Magic and for mine a worse look for Northern for sitting on their hands and doing nothing about it.
As usual , they want a club to be the bad guy (Olympic ) and put in a for a formal complaint before they will take any action. Everyone can see what took place and as the governing body, it is Northern's responsibility to deal with this matter
