They then signed John Aloisi and Alvin Ceccoli to wages that did not go towards the salary cap as they were signed as injury replacement players for like Matt Osman and someone else, and the rules then said an IRP could be paid anything and not go to the cap. The FFA even labelled it publicly a "creative loophole". After that the FFA restricted IRP to be on the same or less money than the injured player, plus they had to be the same or similar position to the injured player (which we somehow convinced the FFA that Nick Ward was a right back a few years ago).
