An overwhelming majority of 76% of the more than 1500 Jets members who voted in the Club’s official poll, opted to acknowledge the Hunter region’s rich football history by voting for the emerald and cinnamon design, the club said in a statement.
The emerald and cinnamon strip are the official colours of the City of Newcastle.
KB United, the first Newcastle team to compete in the National Soccer League back in 1978, wore the same colours.
The club statement noted that of the two other away strip options, the charcoal-coloured design finished with second-highest number of votes with 13%, while the predominantly white third option gained the least amount of votes with 11%.
