HSG needing to rush the decision makes zero sense to me.
Why did they not sack GVE at the end of 12/13, and why did they insist on persisting with him for the start of the 13/14 season? What was the whole "be in top four by end of 6-8 rounds" rumour, and why would they have such patience with a guy that was quite noticeably going to fail? And then to have so much patience with GVE, to not waiting an extra week (even when the competition hasn't fully finished!) for Arnold, makes zero sense to me. The only reason I can see the club "needing to rush the decision" is the likes of Griff & Carney etc have said appoint a head coach and tell me my future or I'll sign elsewhere.
One of those articles say that there were four other candidates interviewed. Darren Stewart was confirmed to not have interviewed, so the list would be something like:
1. Zane
2. Mark Jones
3. ?
4. ?
I'm hoping Bridges wasn't one of the question marks.
The interesting thing for me is the article said all the interviewed coaches had been talked to about plyers on/off contract, and indications of who to keep and who not to have been made by them. What interests me with this is it says to me that all the interviewed coaches know a bit about the HAL/Jets landscape, and probably know each & every player. Therefore, I'm assuming it's not a foreign coach ala Gombau as a guy like that would have NFI about who James Brown the footballer is, and whether he's worth retaining or not.
