I got a request from Newcastle_DiscGolf_Pro over the weekend...

    Newcastle Jets ‏@NewcastleJetsFC 23h
The Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Johnny Warren Medal winner @MarcosFlores85! http://bit.ly/1xuPMZg #NTUA
    Luke T ‏@_Grimario 4m
@NewcastleJetsFC Is Marcos marquee or under the cap? And has the club released any info on Nick Ward? Kept or released?
    Newcastle Jets ‏@NewcastleJetsFC 55s
@_Grimario He is signed under the salary cap #NTUA

    No response on Ward though.

My optimism at Stubbins has been laughed at by a few footballing tragics down here in Adelaide.

You'll find over time that he talks the talk but can't get his team to walk the walk for him Grim.
He really struggled with Campbelltown City here in SA last year, with a team that on paper should have been in contention to win the whole thing.

That's at a state league level, let alone National. Damien Mori will be the next big coach to come out of Adelaide. He's doing good things with City.

When he played against my team, he was berating his players and yelling and screaming most of the match.
I just cannot see his reasoning behind getting a new bunch of players to do entry level coaching badges..... do team building in a way that will engage and physically challenge young lads more. Sitting studying isn't the way to do it.

And in the same interview, he's heaping pressure on his young new lads to perform before a ball is even kicked. That's coaching error 101. Say it in private to them while protecting them from the public eye. He's basically called them all out already in public.

It wont be long before the yelling and screaming starts again....

Unless it's a LB I don't think we need another defender

Back 3 would need another centre back. As it is right now, we only have 3 recognised in the middle, no depth beyond that.

Does Stubbins only play 3 at the back?

I have no idea. I just meant as an option and in terms of squad depth, going with ONLY 3 centre backs into a 30 game season is a bit of a risk.

Who do we have in the yoof that is a centre back that might step up to first team?

Alternatively, that gives Kanta more opportunities there if we have injuries.

He said when he joined us he will probably play either 4-3-3 or 4-1-2-1-2

Yep, everyone pissant fan I've spoken to thinks he'll play 442 diamond.

Agree with Mark - get us a LB Stubbs (or, alternatively, sort Goodwin's attitude out and re-mould him into one).
    OK

I hope this isn't the case if the jets talking again before the deal is completed. They've been saying for a while "striker to be signed" or "announced Monday". We've done it before and they've fallen through. (Re: striker)

The club has done well recently that I hope they don't shoot themselves in the foot.

Jets coach Phil Stubbins confirmed yesterday that a South American striker had agreed to terms and an announcement was expected as early as today.

He's an Adelaide native, wonder if he had any training time with them as a junior before Papas poached him to Oakleigh and then Heart? Maybe Stubbins knows him from way back when.

Herald also says last signing will be a midfielder. Am hoping it is Nathan Burns but if there isn't a lot in the cap would happily take Nick Ward back again.

I realise we have the FFA Cup this year, however if we do officially sign the Colombian Striker today thats 22 players signed and sealed before mid June. 3 and 1/2 months before kickoff for HAL. Some credit has to go to management for pulling this off rather than the usual days before the season starts then 6-8 weeks for visas to come through

But then we wouldn't have someone in the team that looks exactly like you??

Can someone compile all the hints that have been dropped about this South American striker?

I've tried to have a look in Football Manager and there are a few Colombian striker that seems to fit.

I've looked at Colombian, >1 int cap, Striker, contract expired or expiring in 1 year (from July last year) and not based in Europe or UK.

If I exclude people >35, I've come up with three names...
