As far as the jets signing Paartalu I'd say there is a good chance. After all, he's currently out injured so that would certainly put him into contention for a Jets contract.
You're right. We should completely discard players that were immense in the A-league but went to Asia and couldn't make it. It's not like we've ever signed those sorts of players before.

What makes any of you think that Carney has suddenly, in his 30s, developed a right foot?

When Carney was at the Smurfs years ago he actually played mostly on the right wing

Whatever happens this season, GVE will be partly responsible. The young squad are still Gary's squad. I trust the forum will give him whatever kind words are warranted come season end.

Not to mention that GVE is still at the club so all of our future youth will be tainted with his presence.

That starting team would be mine too based on what has been said so far.
In saying that, Edson and Steele are very much unknown and could easily be flops.
Also i believe Kanta can force his way into the best 11 if he gets into some form and stays injury free.

Reckon that Jeronimo and griff could interchange easily. Jeronimo spent some time last season on the wing did he not?

I'd prefer him diving in the box as opposed to out on the wings though..

Something I'm hoping we can see this year as well is goals from set pieces. Between Flores, Griffiths and Carney we have the delivery. We Madaschi, Jaliens, possibly Steele and with any luck Paartalu we have the aerial threat. With the nous to win a free kick high up the field, we have options

It's something we really haven't had since Topor-Stanley. Even then our delivery was suspect.

I've got to stop talking because I feel more and more positive about the team each time and I think I'll be gutted (again) if we fail to fire.

My best 11 is almost the same but I don't want to see either Joel or Jeronimo played out of position. I want to see Joel as true No 9 with the team based around him and Jeronimo playing off him. Both are out and out goal poachers and that is all they should be thinking about, and neither have the defensive qualities needed in 442 at RM.

Montana may turn out to be a weapon but if we are serious contenders we need 3 proven strikers and rotate based on form/injury/suspension. 5 man benches.

    ----------------------Birraz---------------------------

    ------------------Paartalu/Kanta--------------------

    --------Hoole-------------------------Steele--------

    ---------------------Flores-------------------------

    ------------Jeronimo
    ------------------------------Griffiths--------------------

    Regan
    Kanta/Paartalu
    Goodwin

Am I the only one not impressed that we are letting Jeronimo continue to play for AUFC at the moment. Played a trial over the weekend against PG and is playing this Friday against Malaga. Just praying he doesn't get injured.

Must have really wanted to play against Malaga, probably agreed that he could before moving. At least he's getting some match fitness which is good for us I suppose. He has already scored in their pre-season.

If we do sign Paartalu, not sure whether his thai team will want to let him go before the end of the season. They're currently in 1st and its pretty close. Their last game is Nov2, a month into our season.
