Because Americans don't like to look weak. They liked to think they had a tough all-powerful leader without all the bad stuff of a dictatorship. They want a Putin but still want to be able to finger each other's buttholes without being sent to the Gulag.

I just like to remind anyone that thinks he's doing a good job that he's a sham. He's an infomercial of a president. He said he was going to do so many things and has either not done them or done the exact opposite.
