I really don't get it. The thing about a Newy crowd is that they cheer in the right places, they applaud in the eright places, they groan in the right places, and they anticipate a goal. They know how to bring a team home. This tells me we have a very educated crowd. Tonight I had guys around me debating various aspects of tactics and player performance. A newy crowd is engaged in the game.

So what if Newcastle people don't sing. It's an anglo trait and a sign of the mainstream nature of the football in our city. Expect more of this if the game becomes more and more mainstream in the rest of the country.

These dicks want to turn crowds into performing seals, cheerleaders. For what? So that they can go on about how great the atmosphere is? Funny listening to Duvutovic say what needs to happen to create more active support like he is a chess master pushing the pawns around.

    Get stuffed.
I've been to Socceroos games at ANZ where you can hear a pin drop.

I guess last night also shows that NSW's second city has always had a raw deal stadium wise & that we deserve better.

I'm sure if there were 35,000 in a stadium that had a roof at either end to keep the noise in they'd be raving instead of complaining.

That said; I got to see Australia play and win an Asian Cup semi final and be home 20 minutes after leaving the stadium so I'm pretty stoked.

I thought the active support was pretty poor last night. Far too many bouts of silence mixed in with a sporadic song.

Blokes were outdone by 20 in the Squadron when the Jets are 2-0 down at home after 5 mins FFS

Most of the songs just make me cringe like the old fave Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi OI OI

Don't they realise no one wants to join in with this shit??

Why can't we find any decent material??

Thanks **** the Mexican wave the ultimate sign of new dawn plasticity got bitten in the arse before it got going

Atmosphere was as expected. Better than the Oman game in Syd, but then again it was a semi. The whole stadium was joining in on your clap clap clap clap Aussie chants and so on, silent for the rest of it.

Membah, not sure how it was in Bris but I thought the organised active was far better than the active support in Sydney which was a shambles. For future reference please note the difference between acoustics on the hill vs acoustics in the stands (UAE supporters).

Anyway it's a Socceroos game, who cares. I got to watch my team play in Newcastle and we didn't stink like the Jets.

The Koreans were ****ing out doing us something shocking in Brisbane.

45k crowd about 3-4k of Koreans were out doing us every time we had a chant going they would come back twice as loud.

They only seemed to have 1 chant though but they all got in on it.

I ain't expecting a RBB Wanderland wankfest etc from the NT active support but it should be a hell of a lot better than it is which is a ****ing shambles. At least stay involved in it for the majority of the match regardless of what the rest of the plastic fans are doing not a sporadic interlude like it is. The Active Support will never gain respect until they actually go the full 90 regardless of what the other non singing part or those that may be enticed to sing do

Had to love the 'fans' around me that booed in the 93rd minute when we were happy to play "keep ball" rather then look for a third. Some poeple are never happy.. not even with a 2-0 win to make an Asian cup final

BTW how good was the national anthem last night.

It was so manly it sounded like the stadium was full of men with beards.

Wow that was a great buzz standing on the southern hill. Helped prepare the Aussie flag pullover thing at games start too. I would have to rate that as one of the best experiences in the home end, the call and response Aussie chant with the eastern stand was amazing too. Fantastic visual presence too with the flag waving.

Hope that sent a message to the FFA that active support can work on the hill only issue is the acoustics are alot different.

those suited twats aint that precious. just more silent a**wipes arguing that the ground is too quiet.

So why can an AFC game have active support on grass? because they wanted to.

cue an avalance of pissweak rules and regs excuses from various competitions spouting why we cant but really has no legs.

Apparently the Russian WCQ Campaign is getting changed and we will have 2 groups of 5 to negotiate to get to Russia this time.

There was talk the other week that the FFA are looking at spreading the Socceroos around to places like Canberra Adelaide Newy Gold Coast etc instead of playing all the games before not full stadiums in Sydney Melburn Brisbane except when we play a Japan Korea etc

I think the Asian Cup has ensured this will be done with the large turnouts by locals for basketcase games between 2 sides most Australians wouldn't be able to find on a map

Rules are rules. Instead of moaning about them it is a shame the opportunity to push the politicians for the cash to fix this issue for good has been missed.

That is who is to blame for the 21000 crowd not the Asian Confederation. It's not unlike the State Government haven't had the time or money to do it but have continued to screw Newy in favour of Sydney
