    5 minimum spots left

    GK
    RW
    LW
    Possibly Alessi

Last spot has to be a LB, Cowbie then provides coverage in CM with Kanta providing the coverage at CB.

I think Clut will either play wide or in behind the striker, not up top.

And Lab is the backup striker if he gets fit. Plus he can backup both wing positions.

Move Cowburn to starting birth and we are 1 position short of a basic team. Still needs improvement but at least it's better than this time last year.

I would like to see us sign another striker.

Be great if Millertime had the option of playing Morty as a 10. Feel with his smarts he could do a great job in that role

I think if we are to have any chance of finishing 6th or 5th or higher we need a top line striker a la Fornaroli, Berisha, MacLaren or Keogh, someone who will score on a regular basis, otherwise we are probably realistically scraping for that 7th spot again.
I know Adelaide done the double without a striker amongst the top goalscorers but look at the allround quality in their squad compared to our current one.
Yes, agree about Morty, think he showed enough last season that would warrant him playing in the #10 role. We looked very disjointed in attack for the most part last season, he arrived and suddenly we were linking well in attack and playing with better purpose and fluidity.
Even if we could get an old style centre foward/target man, would give us an option to play 4-4-2 with Morty playing off him....very tasty option.
All depends though if Mr Lee is willing to open up the purse strings.

I think we need 2 up front. The lone striker seems too isolated all the time and is easy pickings for the defence imo

I've taken away so far that Clut and Brown will be direct replacements for Barresi and Watson. Immediately, we've gained a functional player in the squad but it remains to be seen whether they will contribute.

The quality of depth we are building in midfield to me suggest we will rely on that area of the park getting through a heap of work each match. Say we start with Poljak and Ugarkovic as the incumbents, if we have Cowburn, Kantarovski and Brown on the bench, there's additional legs in midfield form a quality player while also covering other positions as people have listed above.

Look at the profile of our players as well, we aren't going to aerially bombard teams either, which is probably a good thing because pretty much nobody in the A-League can cross. Things are building and the picture is becoming clearer.

I be very dissatisfied if Millertime is signing Clut and Brown to solidify our bench.

To my thinking if they ain't viewed as better than incumbents why sign them???

Yeah that's true, and I'm a big believer in not having a Visa spot used for a bench player - they need to be first teamers. That's why I think we will set up as a midfield 3 but with the one holder to accommodate Brown.

Barresi didn't contribute to the first team during his time here. He was hampered due to his knee injury initially but at the end of the day he was a Stubbins signing, not Miller's. Clut is and for that reason will probably get more of a look in

Yeah, let's sign an import just for bench depth??

Brown will be starting, Clut will be starting. Miller wouldn't be spending the money on those 2 if they aren't going to play.

Clut is young, quick and can beat a player 1v1, He's a winger at the moment. When he learns how to play in space and hold the ball well and then pick a pass he can move into the middle.

Miller is setting us up to be more flexible. There is no mistake that the first Visa player we sign outside the club can play multiple positions.

At the moment you would think it's 433 with 2 x 8's (Brown and Ugarkovic) and a 6 in Poljak, but by the time we sign the last 2 Visa spots we could easily be set up as 4231 with Brown as a 6/10/11.

For mine to get the most out of Nobby, who is all class, he needs movement around him and playing off him. There was a little of that from Trifunovic but no where near enough. And Leo just did his own thing.

But now we have 2 young box to box midfielders before we add the finishing touches on the wings. It's looking good.

Where Clut fits in is interesting. At the moment you would say on the bench but he could well line up at 10 with a strong preseason.

    Where's Poljak?

And I think we are saving a Visa spot for an attacking midfielder.

I agree. You summed up my thoughts perfectly.

well i just think the 3 i mentioned will be mobile enough to make our midfield very versatile and energetic. For all Poijak strengths he's too slow and gets bypassed by quick players and passes easy

I like the idea of 2 no8s and im sure millier has structures ans systems in place but i doubt he he currently thinking about a starting eleven just yet but rather getting as much starting quality into his squad as possible. Clut and brown would of been identified as players worthy of starting but will still need to prove it over the offseason. The under 20's players can to an extent be seen as not yet starting quality but having spots filled by brennan and pavicevic is a worry.

I for one hope he is thinking of his starting XI.

I will be pretty pissed if he is signing players that he doesn't rate doesn't want doesn't see as better than what we have already

If he not have some form of plan then WTF is he being paid to do???
