really not getting the "good thing". most of the public would see a fat guy with terrible fitness and rightly launch into him and the club about it. we tried that with jardel, it didn't work that time either.

We're officially a basket case - considering a 34 year old bloke who can't get a start in England's 4th tier, who's only famous for youtube videos and stunts about eating a fake twin

Scored more goals at Wembley than 23 million Aussies so I think we should consider making an offer.

    "cough cough"
Would 'beast' Akinfenwa be an A-League sensation?

    2/2
Records were smashed. New champions were crowned. Take a look back at some of the beautiful moments this season produced.
    Tuesday, 31 May 2016 -
Hyundai A-League coaches take note. Adebayo Akinfenwa can play…and he is available. Just hit him up on WhatsApp after he's been to Las Vegas!
The hulking striker – who's 100kg frame makes him look more like a rugby prop – added another chapter to his colourful career by starring at Wembley overnight.
Hyundai A-League transfer wrap for season 2016/17
Akinfenwa came off the bench with 15 minutes left and scored a goal as his AFC Wimbledon side beat Plymouth Argyle 2-0 to win promotion to England’s League One next season.
The 34-year-old striker is known as ‘The Beast’ – and it’s easy to see why, tipping the scales at more than 100kg..
But there’s more to his game than just size, scoring a stack of goals during his 12-year professional career in England’s lower leagues.
And this is where A-League clubs should take note. After helping Wimbledon secure promotion in the play-off final, the club announced they would be releasing him for next season.
"I think I'm technically unemployed, so any managers hit me up on the WhatsApp and get me a job," an entertaining and passionate Akinfenwa told Sky Sports after the match.
Akinfenwa and his Wimbledon teammates are set to celebrate their promotion with a trip to Las Vegas but once they have stopped partying, it could be worth trying to lure him Down Under.
Would he be a success in the Hyundai A-League? What do you think?

170 goals in 529 appearances including 58 league 1 goals. I'd rate league 1 higher than the HAL, but to be honest i'd rate almost every league in the world higher than the HAL. I love it when people compare it to like the dutch or swiss league and somehow conjure up enough imagination to believe such nonsense.

As stated a few posts up. This is literally hot air in the form of people waiting for next season to start. How many more months of this do we have left?

You just need to throw the smallest grenade on here and it goes off - I said in my original post why it wouldn't happen.

Put nearly all Euro leagues playing in the Australian summer conditions and I think you would be surprised how much poorer a lot of team would be compared to the HAL. Having spent a long time living in Europe. The HAL is a lot better than some make out.

More likely to play in the Championship than the HAL

I cannot disagree more with people who think that professional athletes can't deal with a little bit of heat. Not just aimed at you Camel because a lot of people would agree with you but i reckon this is up there with Anti-vaxxers and people who pay for extra warranty on toasters. Sorry not sorry

Performing in 30 degree heat is a little different to the almost zero temperatures played in Europe.

Physiological responses, hydration, nervous system activity etc all become affected and tend to lead towards reduced performance, output and power.

Do you not think that there is perhaps a reason why certain cultures have adapted their game based on their climate?

Other football codes are all played in the winter/cooler months.

The A-league and W-league players are phenomenal athletes in my eyes.

1 x preseason and professional athletes would be acclimatized.

Remember the Brazil World cup? Did all the euro teams struggle and the African teams succeed? I know that's a very simple way of looking at it but i think the margins here are so small that there's little to no advantage after a little while training in the heat.
