There are some things that also need to be considered when discussing Hoff:
1. When defending he has little help from the 7 position. Hoole provides little assistance for him and often reacts after the opposition left back has gone forward and there is an overload on Hoff.
2. Hoff has rarely gone forward this season. Either on Jones' instructions or because he knows that if the ball is lost it will be on him to get back and he might well doubt Hoole's ability to assist him.

While Hoff is not the best right back in the league he is up there toward the top. If he can improve going forward and crossing then Wolfman might well be right
I will go as far as agreeing with a lot of what you wrote.

Last year Alivodic actually done a shit load of work tracking back and assisting Hoffman making him look good to earn a new deal.

Hoole is actually doing us a favour here by helping put Hoffman closer to being back in the NBA league when he ain't offered a new deal
