Fifa announced the tickets will be opened up on 14th September I think until 12th October. Doesn't matter if you request things on first day or last day, allocation is random.

Anybody that has done it before?

Idk whether to wait and see if we qualify, because obviously I'd prefer to see Australia play.
Or to apply for one of those stadium only ticket groups and just be in Moscow or st Petersburg.

Anybody planning to go? What's your plan?

currently pre-planning. went on a tour in '06 so tix were included.
    never done the ballot.
    Member, please provide any input.
im not necessarily fussed whether Aust qualifies. we have a Russian local who is organising an apartment in St Petersburg so will prob just want to go to all possible games in the area.

I can give you a lot of info on this

Probably best I do it in little bits and pieces as I can instead of just doing it in one foul swoop

For a start don't go gung ho making plans until you hear me out on it as I will have some good insight to assist you

Firstly don't worry about getting tickets

You may not get them straight away but you will source them no drama before the games

Last time out they had a random ballot first up and I got none

Then they had a virtual queue and I got none

Next round was a ballot and I got 3 Aussie games and Honduras v Ecuador and Rd16 which was France V Nigeria although at the time no one knew for certain who it would be

After that they had a few more virtual queues and one of them I got lucky

Got Rd 16 Brazil v Chile although I didn't go **** you fog in Rio
    Rd 16 Argentina v Swiss
    QF France v Germany

I also at some stage picked up France Honduras ticket

    I also traded or negotiated
    Iran v Nigeria
    Argentina v Belgium QF
    Sth Korea v Belgium
    England v Costa Rica

So at one stage I was staring down the barrel of nothing and ended up with 13 tickets all up

    As for this first draw

Honestly don't expect to get them

Last time out the majority of tickets at this draw went to the locals rather than foreigners

There will be some tickets issued to foreigners but look at this as a free swing to try and belt a home run

My goal in this would be to maximise your ticket value here

Go for tickets that will be in high demand and give you trade bait so you can get what you want later

I would be looking at going for things like final semi qf tickets

You probably won't get them but if you do you are set

The other thing that may be worthwhile to try is for a team series ticket 5-6-7

A bloke I got the Iran v Nigeria ticket off got the Iran T7 last time out

He didn't give two ****s about Iran but he was more interested in getting the bigger end tickets

He also sussed out that there be minimal demand for Iran getting to the Final and got lucky

Because Iran got eliminated he got tickets to the Rd 16 QF SF and Final involving his group winner which just happened to be Argentina

The venue ones are not the worst if you can Jag them but they really are a mixed bag of shit

As for your ordering tickets I don't give a **** how many people are traveling in your group always apply for 4 or the maximum

You may only want one for your arse but 3 to trade gives you a lot of bargaining power

Just make sure you have enough room on your credit card to pay for them all if you get lucky

On another note they also allowed posting of tickets to your residence

I didn't take this up . But it is a great way of getting around their 7 ticket limit

So take it up if they do

The second draw is where you best off applying for Socceroos tickets if they do get there

This is where the bulk of them will be doled out to the Socceroos fans. I would say about 80-90% of Socceroos fans who went to Brazil got there tickets here
Some were unlucky but the vast majority got the good news with this draw

I also waited until the last minute to put this application in

As a result I was able to see the Rd 16 game France v Nigeria game was in low demand and the Honduras v Ecuador game were in low demand

As I bid for them I got them as the odds were in my favour

I would set my stall out to be prepared to watch any game
You may not get to see a Germany v Brazil match up but all games regardless of who is playing are exciting

Basically be prepared to take what you can get

    As for Category tickets

    Cat 1
    Cat 2
    Cat 3

Quite frankly Cat 1 we're at times dissappointing

I had Cat 1 for Socceroos games

I ended up about 25m out from the goal Chile scored twice at on the sideline

In the Holland game I ended up actually about 20 m behind the goal Robben scored in

At the Spain game I ended up about 25 minutes out from the goal Villa scored at on the sideline

So at 1 ain't the greatest seats as they are actually saved for media and sponsors etc

So be prepared to try for the Cat 2-3 seats as well

I actually had a Cat 3 seat at Porto Alegre France v Honduras that was in a better spot than my Cat 1 to see Aussies v Dutch

So your really up to the fate of the gods here

If any of you are considering going on a tour with Green and Gold Army or Fanatics

    Forget it

    Book everything yourself

    Hotels flights transport etc

    Easy to arrange

There is a thing called the internet you know to research things

Getting a group house as Plague is thinking isn't a bad idea if you prepared to live in people's pockets to save a few $$

If you can actually swing the holiday leave try and stay for the 2nd round at minimum and maybe the QFs if you can

2nd Rd tickets are not the hardest to get and the reality is you be looking at seeing some great teams play as the bigger teams will usually be drawn together now

If it all works out you could go to 4 games in 4 days in the 2nd Rd and 2 QFs in 2 days

haha yeah no chance going with fanatics.

having a Russian connection we were going to try and get tickets through them as locals. again, just try and get anything cheapish and available to then trade for better stuff.
my homies are def going im a late addition wont be making any decisions til end of the year anyway when the draw is done and what games will be available.

Other thing I would add is

Put in applications in your name
    In your wife's name
    In your parents name

Anyone who is happy to let you slug their credit card as they trust you to fix them up needs to be roped in

The more applications you can put in the better

This is why you want tickets posted as well

Last time I had multiple bank accounts set up with my parents name but my money

As a result when I was in the virtual queue I had numerous devices going

    Phone tablet laptop desktop etc
