Everyone knows the greatest player of all time was Irish. Neither Ronaldo or Iniesta are Irish.

There were no yellow or red cards until 1976 in English Football - meaning, defenders pretty much could chop / cut down players all day - and they did.. So, unlike Messi and CR7, Best was not a protected species and he had to contend with two footed tackles from behind, headbutts, elbows, rabbit punches... you name it.
Then you have the quogmire type pitches Best had to contend with and the leather ball......
CR7 and Messi are standouts in today's game - but I can't imagine either of them doing what Best did - certainly not Messi given his inability to win a game on his own.
Iniesta would have been great in any era.
