The more deadly a disease is the easier it is to contain / isolate from spreading globally. Ebola virus being a good example. You get Ebola - you die quickly limiting your chances of spreading it globally.
The problem with Coronavirus is that it takes quite a while for people to show any symptoms and hence why it's hard to contain it from spreading.
Young people appear to not face a death sentence from infection and as such make perfect hosts to transport the virus to those more vulnerable.
Nobody knows how things will pan out in Australia - but if Italy is any example then the sooner we act on limiting it spreading the better.
