Explain to me why he pointed to the spot with a horizontal arm. I know the tackle had no serious intent I want to hope no one makes a tackle with serious intent but contact in the box is contact in the box and should be dealt with accordingly. Also you are not allowed to "lunge" from behind whether you get ball or not. Anyways back to my original complaint which wasn't actually the pen it was the fact that then if the tackle was deemed as "fair" then why does the ball then go out and get called a corner?

And if that's the best ref you guys have had before then I'd be extremely extremely concerned
Just gave the situation to an A-league and state league ref, he said it doesn't sound like a foul. He pretty much said exactly what I just said about the rules. I will give you a link for the rules book and I will wait to see if you can find anything to do with the sort tackle you got on the weekend! like the linesman said, he got the ball and the contact was just from the follow through and that he believed you may have made it look worse than it was! which is a rule, hence him giving the free to Dungog.
I believe I wrote that you can not lunge from any angle and that any lunge should bring an immediate stop to play, with a caution to follow!
Yes true, the best referee we have had this year!
If you want to get right in to the rules, than your filthy mouthed coach would not have remained on the sideline, nor probably at least two players who deemed it necessary to constantly to produce the same language for most of the game at the top of their lungs.
