See Jetmasters reply for basically my summation of why doing it is a decent idea. It raises awareness, so women get their breasts checked earlier, setups like the McGrath foundation provide needed funds for nurses to support breast cancer victims, etc. And shows solidarity, etc.

FYI this is coming from a guy who him & his wife shaved their heads, and me full body ops: last year to raise money (and as another FYI, we raised $8k).
I apologise if anyone took offense.

As I said. We have very good survival rates in Australia.

Early Checking is rarely accurate or effective, nor does it in anyway improve mortality rates for breast cancer (there have been several studies showing this, just look at adelaide where almost 20,000 women were diagnosed incorrectly or not at all).

I do appreciate the Mcgrath Foundation funding nurses. Too much money goes to finding a cure that won't ever exist (I get this idea from a lecture I listened to from the guy heading Cancer research in the United States who has a $5billion/year budget and he says we should focus funds on treatment not prevention/cure).

In the end if people want to shave their head to show solidarity I appreciate that, however funds can go to much better methods of supporting those with cancer than to the research field which just burns it like dried grass.

Again apologies to anyone taking any pain from my post. I don't mean it to be personal against anyone.
