It's def that way for the Olympics. Was wondering the same for WC then remember someone telling me that ch9 morning show cut live into Aus v Srbia back in 2010 when Holman scored and we looked like making up the goal diff to qualify.
I'd say it's more that commercial networks are all shitcunce and don't give a toss.
