BK wouldnt have let 2 in.
BK wouldnt have let 2 in.
Birraz was way out of depth. Poorly positioned for the first, and way to slow to react for the second.
Bayer Leverkusen just cancelled his flights.
Q: So, why did the A-League all stars logo only have 10 stars on it???
A: (here)
Pogba's goal was a cracker though.
Middleby Gone
Lawrie Out
Jesus, just flicked on the Liverpool v Dortmund friendly and that mop haired Gypo is even getting a run.
Then the bad guy off Captain Phillips is a dead ringer for Hersi from the WSW.
Bad night for TV all round IMHO.
how did Griff go in the All Stars game?
hows all these blokes that were so dead against the concept tuning in ffs
every yeti spaghetti and jon bon pizza in sydney must have been there ay, some of the best kappa tracky tops you've ever seen
also juve ultras starting the mexican wave loòòòl
Overall, I enjoyed watching the match.
The flaws with the concept are:
- should not interfere with FFA Cup
- the replacements disrupted the flow of the game and ultimately affected the final result. I know it is an exhibition match but if Birra was put on just to give a token Jets player a run (like Chapman last year - who was clearly out of his depth) then it is little better than a Harlem Globetrotters match. Ultimately, in any football match, the coach should have the best team on the park to achieve a result and if other factors are causing substitutions etc I think the FFA risks turning people off the concept (not just people who want to watch a "real" football match but people who are just there for the entertainment too. Why would you pay to watch a match that is going to descend into a farce in the last 20 minutes?)
- I'm not a fan of this voting process. If the "A-League AllStars" is to mean anything to the players, it should be that they deserve to be there for being the best players in the League. This has merit, and I think the players would respond to the privilege, but making it a popularity contest and putting in players who clearly are not the best, just to get a spread of players through the clubs is just stupid. Just pick the coach and let the coach pick the team.

This was a similar opinion I had (though mercenary isn't how I'd describe them). The frontline and midfield consisted of Carrusca, Berisha, ADP, Broich and Riera. Only Ibini was a local player. Add in Galekovic, North and Rose and that was it for local guys (Smith is a foreign player, right?). I recognise it's reward for these players to be selected, but it just left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth.
I guess weneed to consider what the purpose of the game is - to showcase the quality of the league or place young Aussies in the shop window? My response is to showcase the league's quality.
I guess what's sad is, had we played local players, would the competition have been as close? I don't believe so.

So it could be termed the Aleague blowins v ....
The 10 stars are for how many times they have won something. Biraz winning the team poker comp was one
Are they all mercenaries? To me, by definition a mercenary wouldn't play in this game because there is little personal benefit in it. Think Heskey last year who preferred to stay on holiday, while Berisha and Broich did play.
We've got national teams to give young Aussie kids a crack. This is meant to be the A-League All-stars and it would really be dissappointing if the best players from the A-League (whoever they are) weren't in the team.
