despite being my favorite band, a good example of selling out is Linkin Park for me with their last two records (R.I.P Chester)

The Hunting Party was a thrashier and much harder album then most of their past releases had been for about 6 years (In a sense you can call those three albums post Meteora as also 'selling out') and then they went and released a straight up top 40 geared album.

I'm bias and loved all of their work but even I can admit that that's selling out hard for the extra cash

It took approx 35 years for ACDC to licence one of their songs for use in advertising.
It took 12 months for Indie darling Vance Joy to do the same.

The term sell out seems pretty impossible to define.

Stevie Wonder eventually sold out - but before that he was taking the piss out of his labels owner with songs like this one.

Green Day are a Stiff Little Fingers tribute band Stanny - and not a very good one either.

Musicians absolutely hate these types of events so to get acts of that quality on the one bill is pretty impressive.

Seriously, anyone with the opportunity to go to this event has to go - as you will probably never see a better lineup again in your life.

Disappointed that is the only show Ozzy will be doing. My son is desperate to see his final tour but cant go to Download.

Hopefully slayer and Anthrax do a side show or three. They have been playing together in the US.

Nah. My favourite song of all time isn't a metal tune.
