Anyone see the irony in that a factor in Carney signing for SFC was the carrot of playing ACL....and first game in, he is not even in the squad...blaaahhhhh

Here he was thinking...I get to showcase myself in the ACL and hopefully earn one last big paycheck with an Asian club....then the coach tells him that he needs to lose some kilos and would prefer younger players for the Urrawa Reds match!!!

See I could see the logic in SFC signing Dave and us letting him go as a win win.

Sydney are seriously lacking creative talent. Holosko is a good player and has great engines but isn't going to be scoring regularly plus Smeltz has been dire. Without Ninkovic and Brosque they have little in attack. I can see why Arnie's thought Dave would add a spark that they would need to have any hope of cracking defences in the ACL.

We on the other hand were getting over run every week. Our front 3 barely moved and Dave was the worst of all, just infront of Triffunovic.

So I can see why on paper it made sense to both teams, but we certainly seem to be getting the better of the deal

so am i right in remembering that Carney used to wear #23 in his first stint?

and now he's gone all the way back there and has to watch Rhyan Grant run around in it.

    the horror.

Absolutely. I know it's only four games in but we haven't missed him one bit, winning 2, drawing 1, scoring 7 goals in the process, and Sydney are yet to win in 5(?).

He wasn't there for Adelaide either. We lost that.

He was still part of the club, and presumably in a grumpy mood as we left in Newcastle - so I'm not counting that

It was the week after the 6-1 and SUG and Nobby came off the bench, the improvement was obvious.
